There's a lot of talk about peaking at the right time in the NHL. The Los Angeles Kings are doing just that these days.
With one month until the end of the regular season, the Kings have been playing excellent hockey. They are 5-0-1 in March and own a dominant 60.47% of the expected goals at five-on-five in that stretch, per Natural Stat Trick.
The most encouraging aspect has been the goaltending. For most of the season Los Angeles was playing well, but poor goaltending prevented the team from getting the results it deserved. Over the last couple of weeks, Phoenix Copley and Joonas Korpisalo have provided some stability at that position, and the Kings suddenly look like one of the most dangerous teams in the West.
