Karlsson is the NHL's third-best assist man this season, behind only Connor McDavid (78) and Nikita Kucherov (74). Johnsson (undisclosed) will miss more than Saturday's game against Calgary, Curtis Pashelka of The San Jose Mercury News reports.

Johnsson was thought to be day-to-day after getting hurt in Edmonton on Monday, but coach David Quinn said Saturday that Johnsson will be out a while. Johnsson has three assists in 11 games with the Sharks after starting out the campaign with New Jersey, where he was pointless in two games.

  • Sharks' Jacob Peterson: Grabs helper in team debut

Peterson logged an assist, two shots on goal, two hits and two PIM in Thursday's 7-2 loss to the Canucks.

Peterson made his Sharks debut and picked up a helper on a Tomas Hertl tally in the first period. The 23-year-old Peterson has spent most of the season in the AHL, logging 32 points over 52 contests. The forward had 17 points in 65 games with the Stars last season, and he may get an extended look in the NHL to close out 2022-23.

  • Sharks' Noah Gregor: Offers shorthanded assist

Gregor provided a shorthanded assist and added three hits in Thursday's 7-2 loss to the Canucks.

Gregor set up an Andrew Agozzino tally in the third period. The helper was Gregor's first career shorthanded point. The 25-year-old winger hasn't done much this season with eight points, 95 shots on goal, 81 hits, 32 PIM and a minus-10 rating through 47 outings, though he was given a look alongside Tomas Hertl at even strength in Thursday's loss.

  • Sharks' Erik Karlsson: Provides helper in loss

Karlsson notched an assist, four shots on goal and a minus-2 rating in Thursday's 7-2 loss to the Canucks.

Karlsson's fantastic season has seen him produce three goals and eight assists in March -- and it's strange to think that's somewhat of a down month for him. The 32-year-old blueliner is up to 88 points, 193 shots on net, 74 blocked shots and a minus-16 rating through 72 contests overall. He'll need 10 points over the Sharks' last 12 games to earn a 100-point season.

  • Sharks' Andrew Agozzino: Tallies shorthanded goal

Agozzino scored a shorthanded goal on three shots, logged five hits and blocked two shots in Thursday's 7-2 loss to the Canucks.

Agozzino is making the most of his time in the NHL, with two points through two contests this season. He scored in the third period Thursday to briefly cut the deficit to 4-2. The 32-year-old forward has never had more than three points in a season, and his tally Thursday was his first career shorthanded point. He saw time on the Logan Couture line at even strength, so it's possible Agozzino could be an ultra-budget option in DFS if he can keep that place in the lineup.

  • Sharks' Tomas Hertl: Reaches 20-goal mark in loss

Hertl scored a goal, logged three hits and went minus-3 in Thursday's 7-2 loss to the Canucks.

Hertl reached the 20-goal milestone for the fifth time in his career, though he'd need an impressive run to match the 30 he scored last season. It's been a somewhat challenging season for the 29-year-old, who has 57 points, 164 shots on net, 84 hits, 51 blocked shots and a minus-26 rating through 69 appearances. He's been solid in March with five goals and four helpers over 11 contests.

  • Sharks' James Reimer: Awful in Thursday's loss

Reimer gave up seven goals on 21 shots in Thursday's 7-2 loss to the Canucks.

Reimer has lost his last four outings, giving up 18 goals over that span. While his team's defense can usually take some of the blame, this was simply a poor all-around effort for the Sharks, Reimer included. The 35-year-old netminder dropped to 10-18-8 with a 3.40 GAA and an .891 save percentage through 37 appearances. The Sharks' next game is Saturday in Calgary.
