Devils' Isaac Poulter: Recalled from AHL
Poulter was called up from AHL Utica on Friday.
The Devils have lost Jacob Markstrom for the next 4-6 weeks with a sprained MCL, necessitating the recall of Poulter. Jake Allen is expected to play the majority of the games until Markstrom returns, with Poulter picking up an occasional start. Poulter was 8-7-3 with a 2.90 GAA and an .897 save percentage over 19 AHL starts before being recalled. He has yet to make his NHL debut.

Devils' Jacob Markstrom: Set for 4-6 week absence
Markstrom is expected to be out of action for 4-6 weeks after suffering a sprained MCL, the Devils announced Friday.
Fortunately for Markstrom and the Devils, that recovery period includes the two-week break for the 4 Nations Face-Off, so he won't miss as many games as he otherwise might have. In fact, if the veteran netminder can return in the four-week range, he would only miss seven games and would be ready to face the Stars on Feb. 22. Still, fantasy managers should probably plan for the backstop to miss a little more time and to return in early March. Don't be surprised to see Markstrom land on injured reserve in the next day or two in order to free up a roster spot for Nico Daws or Isaac Poulter to be called up from AHL Utica. Jake Allen figures to see the bulk of the netminding duties in Markstrom's absence.

Devils' Justin Dowling: Snags assist in win
Dowling notched an assist, three shots on goal and a plus-2 rating in Wednesday's 5-1 win over the Bruins.
Dowling had not gotten on the scoresheet in his last 16 games. The 34-year-old has filled in as a depth center at various times in 2024-25, earning four points, 20 shots on net, 23 hits, 13 blocked shots and a minus-3 rating across 32 appearances. He'll likely remain in the lineup as long as Erik Haula (ankle) is unavailable, but Dowling doesn't add enough to help in most fantasy formats.

Devils' Jack Hughes: Nabs power-play assist
Hughes logged a power-play assist and four shots on goal in Wednesday's 5-1 win over the Bruins.
Hughes had been held off the scoresheet over the prior two games, which had seen the Devils limited to a total of two goals against the Flyers and Senators. The 23-year-old was able to get back on the scoresheet Wednesday when he assisted on a Stefan Noesen tally in the second period. Hughes is up to 56 points (25 on the power play), 185 shots on net and a plus-9 rating over 50 appearances this season.

Bratt logged a power-play assist and three shots on goal in Wednesday's 5-1 win over the Bruins.
Bratt has just one goal over his last 16 outings, but he's added 10 assists (five on the power play) in that span. Four of those helpers have come over his last six games. The 26-year-old remains a significant part of the Devils' offense with 15 goals, 38 assists, 112 shots on net, 54 hits and a plus-8 rating over 50 appearances, and 22 of his 53 points have come on the power play.

Devils' Jake Allen: Perfect to earn win in relief
Allen stopped all 16 shots he faced in relief of Jacob Markstrom (lower body) in Wednesday's 5-1 win over the Bruins.
Markstrom is set to miss time, so Allen is likely to see a heavier workload for a while. This was Allen's first win since Nov. 23 -- he had lost all six of his appearances from Nov. 30 to Jan. 18. The 34-year-old netminder has done alright in limited action with a 6-8-1 record, a 2.66 GAA and a .901 save percentage through 15 games played. The Devils' next game is against one of Allen's former teams, as they're in Montreal on Saturday.

Noesen scored a power-play goal and took five shots on goal in Wednesday's 5-1 win over the Bruins.
Noesen gave the Devils a 3-1 lead in the latter stages of the third period with a backhand shot that went past Jeremy Swayman as part of a four-goal second period for New Jersey. This was the first time the 31-year-old cracked the scoresheet since returning from a two-game absence due to an illness. He's notched a career-high 18 goals this season, and he's also on pace to surpass his previous career-high mark of 37 points, established in 2023-24.

Devils' Timo Meier: Records two assists in win
Meier recorded two assists, two shots on goal, one blocked shot and a plus-2 rating in Wednesday's 5-1 win over the Bruins.

He has recorded assists in three of his last five outings and is up to 33 points across 49 games this season, tallying 14 goals and 19 helpers.

Hischier recorded one power-play goal and two power-play assists in Wednesday's 5-1 win over the Bruins.
Hischier was the most productive player for the Devils on Thursday, as he was involved directly in three of the team's five goals to record his second multi-point game over his last four appearances. The 26-year-old has been one of the strongest contributors for the Devils this year, logging 42 points across 50 appearances, and he could be on pace to reach the 60-point plateau for the fourth straight season.

Devils' Dougie Hamilton: Scores, assists Wednesday
Hamilton scored a power-play goal and added a power-play assist in Wednesday's 5-1 win over the Bruins.

Devils' Jacob Markstrom: Will miss time
Markstrom (lower body) is feeling better after sustaining an injury Wednesday versus the Bruins, but he will miss time, Mike Morreale of NHL.com reports.
Markstrom doesn't have a specific timeline for his recovery. Expect Jake Allen to take over the starting role in the short term, while the Devils will make a move to call up a goalie -- likely Nico Daws or Isaac Poulter -- to fill the backup role.

Devils' Jacob Markstrom: Departs Wednesday's contest
Markstrom (lower body) limped off the ice after a collision with Justin Brazeau in the second period of Wednesday's game against the Bruins, Mike Morreale of NHL.com reports.
Markstrom stopped six of seven shots prior to his injury. The 34-year-old was replaced by Jake Allen between the pipes, and it would likely be Allen to take on a starting role should Markstrom miss additional time. The Devils' next game is Saturday in Montreal.

Devils' Jacob Markstrom: In goal Wednesday
Markstrom will get the starting nod at home versus the Bruins on Wednesday, Mike Morreale of NHL.com reports.
Markstrom has lost three straight games during which he posted a 2.29 GAA to go with a 0-1-2 record. Despite the recent slump, the 34-year-old backstop has already reached the 20-win mark for the eighth consecutive season and should be capable of pushing for 30 for just the second time in his career.

Palat (illness) will miss Wednesday's game against Boston.
Palat has 10 goals, 19 points, 78 hits and 42 blocks in 48 outings in 2024-25. Kurtis MacDermid is likely to draw into the lineup due to Palat's absence while Paul Cotter moves into a first-line role.

Devils' Erik Haula: Resumes skating
Head coach Sheldon Keefe relayed that Haula (ankle) is skating on his own but does not have a timetable to return, Catherine Bogart of the Devils' official site reports.
Haula was placed on injured reserve Friday -- the left-shot center hasn't suited up since Jan. 4 in San Jose. The 33-year-old will need to ramp up his activity level and join the team at practice before he becomes a candidate to re-enter the lineup. Haula has recorded five goals and 11 points through 42 appearances in 2024-25.
