  • Avalanche's Kevin Mandolese: Signs with new team

Mandolese signed a one-year, two-way contract with the Avalanche on Tuesday.

Mandolese's rights were acquired from Ottawa on Monday, and it didn't take Colorado long to get the 23-year-old goalie under contract. Mandolese is likely to spend most of 2024-25 with AHL Colorado, though he has three games of NHL experience and could see some time with the big club if Alexandar Georgiev or Justus Annunen are sidelined at any point.

  • Avalanche's Kevin Mandolese: Acquired in trade

Colorado acquired Mandolese and a 2026 seventh-round pick from Ottawa on Monday in exchange for a 2026 sixth-round selection.

Mandolese posted a 10-9-2 record with a 3.07 GAA and a .901 save percentage across 23 regular-season appearances for AHL Belleville in 2023-24. He also went 0-2-0 with a 3.53 GAA and a .918 save percentage in two outings with ECHL Allen. With Alexandar Georgiev and Justus Annunen poised to occupy the top-two goaltending spots with the Avalanche in 2024-25, Mandolese will likely start the season in the minors.

  • Avalanche's Calum Ritchie: Inks entry-level deal

Ritchie signed a three-year, entry-level contract with Colorado on Monday.

Ritchie produced 28 goals and 80 points across 50 regular-season appearances with OHL Oshawa in 2023-24. He also earned eight tallies and 22 assists in 21 playoff contests. The Avalanche chose Ritchie with the No. 27 overall pick in the 2023 NHL Entry Draft. The 19-year-old forward will probably be back with the Generals for the beginning of the 2024-25 campaign.

  • Avalanche's Jason Polin: Inks one-year deal

Polin signed a one-year, two-way deal with Colorado on Friday.

Polin scored one goal in seven regular-season games with the Avalanche last season and tallied 10 points in 44 appearances with AHL Colorado between the regular season and playoffs. The 25-year-old could compete for a bottom-six role in training camp but will likely spend most of the year at the AHL level.

  • Avalanche's Wyatt Aamodt: Picks up one-year deal

Aamodt inked a one-year, two-way contract with Colorado on Tuesday.

Aamodt has spent the last two seasons playing with AHL Colorado on a minor-league-only deal. It appears that was enough to convince the Avs to offer the blueliner a two-way deal, which could see him earn an NHL call-up for the first time in his career. Still, Aamodt figures to play the bulk of his games with the Eagles this upcoming season.

  • Avalanche's Chase Bradley: Signs entry-level contract

Bradley signed a two-year, entry-level contract with Colorado on Tuesday.

Bradley notched 11 goals and 11 assists in 31 regular-season games with the University of Connecticut in 2023-24. The 22-year-old forward was the No. 203 overall pick of the 2020 NHL Entry Draft by Detroit but became a free agent this summer. Bradley will probably begin the 2024-25 campaign at the AHL level after getting a look during Colorado's training camp.

  • Avalanche's Erik Brannstrom: Grabs one-year contract

Brannstrom signed a one-year, $900,000 contract with Colorado on Tuesday, Elliotte Friedman of Sportsnet reports.

Brannstrom won't find minutes easy to come by with the Avs, especially after the team re-signed Jacob MacDonald and brought in Calvin de Haan. At best, Brannstrom figures to be the sixth or seventh blueliner heading into the 2024-25 campaign.

  • Avalanche's Artturi Lehkonen: Could be ready for camp

Lehkonen (shoulder) should be ready around the start of training camp, Corey Masisak of The Denver Post reports.

The team will have a better outlook on Lehkonen's timeline in the coming months but for now, it seems to be good news. The 28-year-old tallied 16 goals and 34 points in 45 regular-season games before adding another 11 points in 11 playoff appearances. Assuming he's healthy, Lehkonen will be locked into a top-six role during the 2024-25 season.

  • Avalanche's Calle Rosen: Agrees to one-year deal

Rosen signed a one-year contract with the Avalanche on Monday, per Lou Korac of NHL.com.

Rosen had two goals and 33 points in 68 regular-season appearances with AHL Springfield in 2023-24. He also had an assist in six outings with St. Louis. Rosen is likely to start the 2024-25 campaign in the minors.

  • Avalanche's Parker Kelly: Inks two-year agreement

Kelly signed a two-year, $1.65 million contract with the Avalanche on Monday, per Elliotte Friedman of Sportsnet.

Kelly had eight goals, 18 points, 30 PIM, 171 hits and 67 blocked shots in 80 contests with Ottawa last season. He became an unrestricted free agent after the Senators declined to present him with a qualifying offer. Kelly is likely to be a mainstay on the Avalanche's fourth line for the duration of his new contract.

  • Avalanche's T.J. Tynan: Joining Colorado

Tynan signed a deal with the Avalanche on Monday.

While the details aren't official, Tynan's contract is likely a two-way deal. He hasn't seen any NHL action since skating in two games with the Kings during the 2021-22 campaign. However, he's been terrific with AHL Ontario over the last few years. Tynan scored 245 points at the AHL level over the last three seasons and chipped in another 11 playoff points during that span.

  • Avalanche's Jacob MacDonald: Returns to Mile High City

MacDonald (undisclosed) signed a two-year, $1.55 million contract with Colorado on Monday, according to PuckPedia.

MacDonald provided seven goals, two assists, 49 shots on net and 40 hits in 34 regular-season contests with the Sharks in 2023-24. The 31-year-old has played three of his first five years with the Avalanche, so he should be familiar with the organization. He missed San Jose's final three games because of an injury but should be available for training camp. MacDonald could see playing time in a depth capacity as a forward or a defenseman in 2024-25.

  • Avalanche's Calvin de Haan: Signs one-year deal

De Haan signed a one-year, $800,000 contract with the Avalanche on Monday, per Bruce Garrioch of Postmedia.

De Haan had three goals, 10 points, 96 hits and 82 blocked shots in 59 regular-season appearances with the Lightning in 2023-24. The 33-year-old should be in the mix for a third-pairing role, but it wouldn't be surprising if he ends up as Colorado's seventh defenseman on the depth chart.

  • Avalanche's Joel Kiviranta: Pens two-way deal

Kiviranta inked a one-year, two-way contract with Colorado on Monday.

In his first season with the Avalanche, Kiviranta played in 56 regular-season contests, recording three goals, six assists and 78 hits. The 28-year-old winger's lack of offensive upside likely factored into the team's decision to only offer him a two-way deal. While Kiviranta should make the Opening Night roster, he is far from a lock as evidenced by his contract, and he's unlikely to see much more than bottom-six minutes when he plays.

  • Avalanche's Jonathan Drouin: Staying put with one-year deal

Drouin signed a one-year contract with the Avalanche on Monday. The agreement is reportedly worth $2.5 million, according to Aarif Deen of Mile High Sports.

Provided those reported financial terms are accurate, this is a great deal for Colorado after Drouin supplied 19 goals and 56 points, including 19 points with the man advantage, in 79 regular-season contests with the Avalanche in 2023-24. Drouin is likely to serve in a top-six capacity in 2024-25 just as he did last season, but with Casey Mittelstadt gearing up for his first full campaign in Colorado, there's also a chance that the Avalanche will experiment with using Drouin as the third-line center.

  • Avalanche's Will Zellers: NoDak commit picked by Colorado

Zellers was the 76th overall pick by the Avalanche in the 2024 NHL Entry Draft on Saturday.

A product of the famed Shattuck St. Mary's school in Minnesota, Zellers is a top-six offensive talent. His skating is strong, he plays hard, and he's also shown well for Team USA on the international stage. The main concern at this point is whether or not Zellers has enough dynamic skill to score in the NHL as an undersized player. He's only 5-foot-10, 165 pounds right now. Zellers is committed to the University of North Dakota for 2024-25.

  • Avalanche's Ilya Nabokov: First goalie taken in '24 draft

Nabokov was the 38th overall pick by the Avalanche in the 2024 NHL Entry Draft on Saturday.

Nabokov becomes the first goaltender selected in the draft. An overage player, the 21-year-old Nabakov was named KHL Rookie of the Year and Playoff MVP after a season in which he went 23-13-3 with a 2.15 GAA and .930 save percentage for Magnitogorsk. He was even better in the postseason, going 16-6 with a 1.82 GAA and a .942 save percentage. Nabokov lacks ideal size for a goaltender at 6-foot and 180 pounds, but he reads plays extremely well, particularly side to side, and his positioning is exceptional. Nabokov is nothing more than a long-term lottery ticket for Colorado, but we've seen numerous KHL goaltenders come to the NHL and have success, so he's a worthy gamble at this stage of the draft.

  • Avalanche's Casey Mittelstadt: Pens three-year contract

Mittelstadt signed a three-year, $17.25 million deal with Colorado on Tuesday.

Mittelstadt put up solid numbers for the Avs after being acquired at the trade deadline last season. The 25-year-old center garnered four goals on 25 shots to go with six helpers, 12 hits and eight blocks in 18 regular-season appearances. Previously scheduled to be a restricted free agent this offseason, Mittelstadt avoids a protracted contract negotiation by getting this deal done early. Heading into the 2024-25 campaign, the Minnesota native should be capable of reaching the 50-point threshold for a third consecutive season and even challenging for 60-plus.

  • Avalanche's Jere Innala: Signs entry-level deal

Innala signed a one-year, entry-level contract with the Avalanche on Thursday.

Innala had 16 goals and 28 points in 42 regular-season contests with Frolunda of the Swedish Hockey League in 2023-24. He also had 11 goals and 15 points across 14 playoff games with the team this year. The 26-year-old wasn't drafted by an NHL team, and this will be his first pro stint in North America.

  • Avalanche's Logan O'Connor: Recovering well from surgery

O'Connor (hip surgery) is expected to be ready for the start of training camp, according to Corey Masisak of The Denver Post.

O'Connor underwent surgery in March and missed the rest of the season. O'Connor had 13 goals and 25 points in 57 appearances for the Avalanche, giving them secondary scoring from an unexpected source, as his previous career high was nine goals in 82 games during the 2022-23 campaign. Look for O'Connor to compete for a spot on the third line in 2024-25.
