A positive in yesterday’s loss was Adley Rutschman had his best game at the plate since joining the Red Sox. He had three hits along with two doubles, and now is riding a four game hit streak. That’s his best since early July. Play his combination line over, and don’t be surprised if he hits a home run.

    Analysis

    Are the Jays mailing it in? Their Game 1 lineup is quite bad in Baltimore sans Vladimir Guerrero Jr., former All-Star catcher Alejandro Kirk and good-looking rookie outfielder Brett Bateman. It's perhaps the final start in the first-ballot Hall of Fame career for Max Scherzer, who is winless with a 5.70 ERA in five road starts. It's former Blue Jay Chris Bassitt for the Orioles, and he has been good this month at 2-1 with a 3.12 ERA. He has a 2.45 ERA in 11.0 innings against his former club.
