Hurricanes' Jalen Chatfield: Set to play Thursday
Head coach Rod Brind'Amour said Wednesday that Chatfield (undisclosed) will play in Thursday's Game 5 in Washington, Cory Lavalette of the North State Journal reports.
Chatfield tweaked something during Monday's Game 4 and missed practice Wednesday, but Brind'Amour clarified the absence as a maintenance day. Chatfield will be available as the Hurricanes attempt to advance to the conference finals. Over his first nine playoff appearances this year, he's recorded a goal, 11 blocked shots, nine hits, six PIM and a plus-6 rating while averaging 20:24 of ice time.

Hurricanes' Jalen Chatfield: Misses practice Wednesday
Chatfield (undisclosed) missed Wednesday's practice after tweaking something toward the end of Carolina's 5-2 victory over Washington on Monday, Walt Ruff of the Hurricanes' official site reports.
Head coach Rod Brind'Amour suggested Tuesday that Chatfield should be fine for Game 5 on Thursday, so his absence from the morning skate might just be to give him a chance to rest whatever is ailing him ahead of him dressing for the upcoming tilt. Chatfield has a goal, plus-6 rating, six PIM, eight shots, nine hits and 11 blocks across nine playoff outings this year while averaging 20:24 of ice time. If he doesn't play, then Alexander Nikishin might draw into the lineup.

Hurricanes' Sean Walker: Two-point effort in Monday's win
Walker produced a goal and an assist Monday in the Hurricanes' 5-2 win over the Capitals in Game 4 of their second-round series.
Both points came in the third period as the 'Canes fended off a comeback attempt. Walker had been held off the scoresheet in eight straight games to begin the team's postseason run, and his role on the third pairing doesn't give him much of a fantasy ceiling after a regular season that saw him collect five goals and 16 points while playing all 82 games.

Hurricanes' Taylor Hall: Two points including Game 4 winner
Hall scored the game-winning goal and added an assist Monday in the Hurricanes' 5-2 win over the Capitals in Game 4 of their second-round series.
With Carolina leading 2-1 in the third period, the veteran winger got sprung for a breakaway by a blue line-to-blue line pass from Jack Roslovic, and Hall made no mistake as he ripped the puck blocker side past Logan Thompson. After managing just one point in the first round against the Devils, Hall has a goal and three points in the last two contests. He'll look to stay hot as the 'Canes try to advance to the Eastern Conference Finals with a Game 5 win Thursday.

Hurricanes' Frederik Andersen: Sharp again in Monday's win
Andersen made 19 saves Monday in the Hurricanes' 5-2 win over the Capitals in Game 4 of their second-round series.
Jakob Chychrun ended Andersen's playoff shutout streak at 123:24 when the defenseman found the back of the net in the third period, but Andersen was stout once again, and Carolina never trailed in the contest. The 35-year-old netminder has yet to allow more than three goals in an outing this postseason, and he'll take a 1.41 GAA and a .935 save percentage through eight appearances into Game 5 on Thursday as the 'Canes look to punch their tickets to the Eastern Conference Finals.

Hurricanes' Mark Jankowski: Not expected to play
Jankowski (undisclosed) isn't expected to play in Game 4 versus Washington on Monday, per Walt Ruff of the Hurricanes' official site.
Jankowski didn't participate in line rushes during Monday's morning skate, indicating he will miss his third straight game. He has earned one assist, four shots on goal, two hits and three blocked shots in three appearances this postseason. Jack Roslovic has performed well in the last two games, and he could remain in the lineup once Jankowski receives the green light to return.

Hurricanes' Frederik Andersen: Slated to start Monday
Andersen is expected to start Game 4 at home versus Washington on Monday, Dan Rosen of NHL.com reports.
Andersen is coming off a 21-save shutout victory in Game 3, so there was really never any doubt regarding who might start Game 4. In the postseason, the veteran backstop is 5-2 with a remarkable 1.32 GAA and .940 save percentage. At this point, Andersen has probably earned enough leash to keep the crease over Pyotr Kochetkov even if Andersen stumbles.

Hurricanes' Frederik Andersen: Posts shutout in Game 3
Andersen turned aside all 21 shots he saw during Saturday's 4-0 Game 3 win over the Capitals.
Andersen missed the end of the Hurricanes' first-round series against New Jersey due to an injury, but he's been back in net over the first three games of the second round. He hasn't been tested much, as the 21 shots on goal by the Capitals in Game 3 marked their highest total of the series. However, he's posted a 0.99 GAA and .945 save percentage to help give Carolina a 2-1 advantage in the series.

Hurricanes' Mark Jankowski: Doubtful Saturday
Jankowski (undisclosed) is doubtful for Game 3 versus Washington on Saturday, Walt Ruff of the Hurricanes' official site reports.
Jankowski skated at practice Saturday, and while it looked like he would be an option to return after practice Friday, coach Rod Brind'Amour all but ruled the 30-year-old forward out of Game 3. Look for Jack Roslovic to remain in the lineup due to Jankowski's likely absence.

Hurricanes' Mark Jankowski: Might return Saturday
Jankowski is trending in the right direction and could be an option for Game 3 versus Washington on Saturday after head coach Rod Brind'Amour told reporters, "I know he's close, that's for sure," Walt Ruff of the Hurricanes' official site reports.
Jankowski has appeared in three postseason contests in which he's notched one assist, four shots and three blocks while averaging 11:21 of ice time. In his 19 regular-season contests for the Canes, the 30-year-old center registered eight goals on 21 shots, zero assists and 18 PIM. If Jankowski gets back in the lineup, it figures to be in a bottom-six role with Jack Roslovic relegated to the press box.

Hurricanes' Frederik Andersen: Solid in Game 2 loss
Andersen made 18 saves in a 3-1 loss to Washington in Game 2 on Thursday.
He allowed two goals. Andersen is an important ballast for the second-place team from the Metropolitan Division. After starting just 22 regular-season games, Freddie is 4-2 with a 1.55 GAA and .930 save percentage in six starts. As Andersen goes, so go the Canes it would seem.

Hurricanes' Sebastian Aho: Franchise playoff PP-point leader
Aho picked up an assist in Thursday's 3-1 loss to the Capitals in Game 2.
It was his 21st career postseason power-play point, passing Rod Brind'Amour (20) and Eric Staal (20) for the most in franchise history. Aho's nine points (three goals, six assists) lead the Canes this postseason.

Hurricanes' Shayne Gostisbehere: Gets team's only goal in loss
Gostisbehere scored a power-play goal in Thursday's 3-1 loss to Washington in Game 2.
Gostisbehere scored on a one-timer from the right circle after the puck slid to him following a block by John Carlson. The defender has two goals, three assists and 14 shots in seven games this postseason. Ghost has really stepped up in the playoffs this year -- he had eight points, including two goals, in 32 games in four other postseasons combined.
