The blueliner added a second point later in the frame with an assist on Jake Guentzel's tally. • Hurricanes' Brendan Lemieux: Rare two-point showing

Lemieux notched a goal and an assist in Sunday's 7-2 win over Ottawa.

Lemieux set up Dmitry Orlov on a breakaway for the opening goal midway through the first period before adding a tally of his own in the third, deflecting a Brent Burns shot to extend Carolina's lead to 7-2. It's the first multi-point effort of the season for Lemieux, whose last goal was Nov. 28 versus the Flyers. He now has three goals and five points through 27 games this season while frequently serving as a healthy scratch -- a role he'll likely return to when Jack Drury (lower body) and Teuvo Teravainen (upper body) are both healthy.

Kuznetsov recorded a goal and an assist in Sunday's 7-2 win over the Senators.

Kuznetsov put the Hurricanes ahead 2-1 early in the second period with a power-play marker, beating Anton Forsberg with a wrister from the circle, before adding an assist on a Dmitry Orlov tally in the third. The 31-year-old Kuznetsov has looked like his old self in Carolina, picking up two goals and four points in his last three contests. He's up to 21 points (eight goals, 13 assists) through 49 games this season between the Hurricanes and Capitals.

Aho's up to 74 points (27 goals, 47 assists) through 65 games this season, eight shy of his career high set in 2018-19.

  • Hurricanes' Frederik Andersen: Sharp in fourth straight win

Andersen stopped 30 of 32 shots in a 7-2 win over Ottawa on Sunday.

Andersen didn't have to do much behind Carolina's seven-goal outburst but was solid again Sunday. He has won each of his four starts since returning from IR while allowing two goals or fewer in each outing. Overall, the 34-year-old netminder is 8-1-0 this season with a .917 save percentage and 2.17 GAA. While he continues to split time with Pyotr Kochetkov in net, Andersen could be playing his way back into a clear starting job down the stretch.

  • Hurricanes' Dmitry Orlov: Reaches 20-point mark Saturday

Orlov recorded an assist for a second straight game in Saturday's 5-4 shootout win over the Maple Leafs.

Although the helper gives Orlov 20 points on the season (3G, 17A), he's still on pace to fall short of the 36 points he posted last year. Part of the problem is Orlov's ice time is down more than five minutes conpared to last season (17:03 vs. 22:33), which is not surprising as Carolina boasts one of the deepest blue lines in the NHL. Temper your expectations accordingly.

  • Hurricanes' Jordan Martinook: Finds twine in Saturday's win

Martinook recorded a goal on three shots, one hit and a pair of penalty minutes in Saturday's 5-4 shootout win over the Maple Leafs.

Now with 25 points in 67 games (12G, 13A), Martinook has a shot at cracking the 30-point plateau for the second consecutive season given his current pace. Although he continues to skate primarily on the Canes' third line, he makes for a decent fantasy pickup in deeper formats.

  • Hurricanes' Brent Burns: Two helpers Saturday

Burns recorded a pair of assists, two hits, a blocked shot and one shot on goal in Saturday's 5-4 shootout win over the Maple Leafs.

Now with just 35 points in 67 games, Burns is having an off-year following his 61-point season in 2022-23. It may be that Father Time has finally caught up with the 38-year-old blueliner, who is now in his 19th NHL season. For now, he continues to see healthy minutes with an average TOI of 21:48, although this represents a decline from his previous two seasons (23:13 and 26:08, respectively).

The game was scoreless heading into the second frame, and then the Leafs racked up three consecutive goals by the 12:03 mark. Kochetkov buckled down and waited for his teammates to respond, and they did. The Leafs scored another early in the third, but the Hurricanes remained patient and managed to force overtime with only seven seconds left in regulation. Kochetkov is 18-12-3 with a 2.40 GAA and .911 save percentage through 35 appearances, including 6-4-0 with two shutouts in his last 10 outings.

Aho has 27 goals this season in 64 games and is just three away from his fifth 30-goal campaign. He's also on track for close to 90 points, which would surpass his career high of 83 points (2018-19). His 71 points this year lead the Canes in scoring by a wide margin. Jake Guentzel sits second (55), though most of his production came as a member of the Penguins before being acquired by Carolina. Seth Jarvis is third among all skaters in Raleigh with 52.
