Golden Knights' Akira Schmid: Lands two-year deal
Schmid signed a two-year, $1.75 million contract with the Golden Knights on Wednesday, per CapFriendly.
Schmid was traded from the Devils to the Golden Knights at the draft, but he did not receive a qualifying offer. This allowed the 24-year-old goalie to test free agency, but Vegas was able to get a deal done with him anyway. The Golden Knights also signed Ilya Samsonov on Monday to a one-year, $1.8 million deal, so it's likely Schmid will spend the bulk of 2024-25 at AHL Henderson.

Golden Knights' Callahan Burke: Signs with Vegas
Burke signed a one-year, two-way contract with the Golden Knights on Tuesday, per PuckPedia.
Burke spent almost all of last season on loan with AHL Colorado, where he racked up 39 points in 57 regular-season outings. He also appeared in one game with the Hurricanes. Burke's a proven minor-league scorer, but he's unlikely to see much NHL action.

Korczak had nine points in 26 regular-season games last season but was a healthy scratch throughout Vegas' postseason run. Dorofeyev signed a two-year, $1.835 million AAV extension with the Golden Knights on Monday.
Dorofeyev took on a bigger role with Vegas last season, scoring 13 goals and 24 points in 47 regular-season appearances. However, he only dressed in one postseason game after the team got a bit healthier. Dorofeyev could compete for a consistent middle-six role during the 2024-25 campaign.

Samsonov signed a one-year, $1.8 million deal with Vegas on Monday.
Samsonov went 23-7-8 during the regular season with Toronto last year despite producing a lackluster .890 save percentage. The 27-year-old appears to be the favorite to serve as the backup behind Adin Hill during the 2024-25 campaign. Samsonov has registered. 2.76 GAA and a .904 save percentage in 171 career NHL games.

Golden Knights' Tanner Laczynski: Inks two-year agreement
Laczynski signed a two-year, $1.55 million contract with the Golden Knights on Monday, per Elliotte Friedman of Sportsnet.
Laczynski had 17 goals and 44 points in 49 regular-season games with AHL Lehigh Valley in 2023-24. He also has two goals and four points across 38 career NHL appearances. Laczynski should get a look during training camp, but he'll probably start the campaign in the minors.

Golden Knights' Zach Aston-Reese: Lands in Sin City
Aston-Reese signed a one-year, two-way contract with Vegas on Monday, according to Jesse Granger of The Athletic.
Aston-Reese registered 14 goals and 30 points in 61 regular-season outings for AHL Grand Rapids in 2023-24. He didn't find the scoresheet in three NHL appearances with Detroit this past campaign. Aston-Reese will compete for a bottom-six spot at Vegas' training camp but may spend most of 2024-25 in the minors again.

Golden Knights' Akira Schmid: Moving to Sin City
Schmid and Alexander Holtz were acquired by the Golden Knights from the Devils on Saturday in exchange for Paul Cotter and a 2025 third-round draft pick.
Schmid had a 5-9-1 record, 3.15 GAA and .895 save percentage in 19 appearances with the Devils during the 2023-24 campaign. He also posted a 3.06 GAA and an .894 save percentage across 23 regular-season outings with AHL Utica. The 24-year-old netminder is expected to begin the 2024-25 campaign as the third goaltender on the franchise's depth chart, per Danny Webster of the Las Vegas Review-Journal Adin Hill will serve as the starter, while Vegas will attempt to sign a backup netminder when the free agent market opens Monday. Schmid is likely to start the campaign in the minors, though he would be the first option for a promotion if one of the Golden Knights' goaltenders suffers an injury.

Golden Knights' Alexander Holtz: Involved in trade
Holtz was acquired by the Golden Knights from the Devils along with Akira Schmid on Saturday in exchange for Paul Cotter and a 2025 third-round pick.
Holtz provided 16 goals and 28 points in 82 contests with the Devils in 2023-24. The 22-year-old forward was selected with the No. 7 overall pick in the 2020 NHL Draft and has the potential to make significant strides offensively. Holtz might start the 2024-25 campaign serving in a middle-six capacity.

Golden Knights' Pavel Moysevich: Overager drafted by Vegas
Moysevich was the 83rd overall pick by the Golden Knights in the 2024 NHL Entry Draft on Saturday.
Moysevich was eligible for last year's draft and wasn't selected. He split time this past season between Russia's KHL and the league's second-tier VHL. He performed well at both levels. In 13 KHL games for SKA, Moysevich went 3-2-2 with a 1.25 GAA and a .942 save percentage. Everything we've seen thus far suggests Moysevich is a solid goaltending prospect, but we likely need a few more years of full-time KHL duty before any final determinations.

Golden Knights' Trevor Connelly: Top-10 skill slips to 19th at draft
Connelly was the 19th overall pick by the Golden Knights in the 2024 NHL Entry Draft on Friday.
Connelly is a high-skill winger with strong hockey IQ and dynamic wheels, but whose character gave NHL teams indigestion (and then some) all season long. He cycled through four teams between 2020-22, including a short two-week stint with one. He's dealt with a number of issues both on and off the ice, raising big questions about his character. On pure talent, Connelly is a potential game breaker on the ice, but NHL teams remember the pre-and-post draft dilemmas surrounding Tony DeAngelo, Mitchell Miller and Logan Mailloux. If he matures, Connelly could be a home run pick with Tim Stutzle skill. The Golden Knights saw value and took it. The rest is up to Connelly.

Golden Knights' Michael Amadio: Sends assist in loss
Amadio notched an assist and two hits in Sunday's 2-1 loss to the Stars in Game 7.
Amadio played the final four games of the series after being scratched in favor of Pavel Dorofeyev early on. Amadio had two points, four shots on net, two hits and a plus-2 rating. The 27-year-old is set to be an unrestricted free agent this summer after posting back-to-back 27-point campaigns for Vegas.

Golden Knights' William Karlsson: Plays through injury
Karlsson played through a lower-body injury during the Golden Knights' first-round playoff series versus the Stars, which concluded with a 2-1 loss in Game 7 on Sunday, Danny Webster of the Las Vegas Review-Journal reports.
The injury wasn't bad enough to keep Karlsson off the ice, but it was obvious he was struggling, as he was limited to two helpers over seven games. He added nine shots on net, eight hits, five blocked shots and a plus-4 rating from a third-line role. Karlsson was a 60-point contributor in the regular season, and he should fill a middle-six role again in 2024-25.

Golden Knights' Brett Howden: Nets lone goal in loss
Howden scored a goal on four shots, added two hits and blocked two shots in Sunday's 2-1 loss to the Stars in Game 7.
Howden tied the game at 1-1 with a goal late in the second period. The 26-year-old played in all seven of the Golden Knights' postseason contests, earning two points, seven shots on net, 23 hits and five blocked shots from a bottom-six role. He remains under contract for 2024-25 after posting 19 points in 72 regular-season outings during 2023-24.

Golden Knights' Adin Hill: Loses in Game 7
Hill surrendered two goals on 24 shots in Sunday's 2-1 loss to the Stars in Game 7.
A turnover led to the Stars' first goal, and they scored again early in the third period on the first shift of the frame. Hill went 1-2 with five goals allowed on 72 shots over the final three contests of the series after losing the starting job to Logan Thompson at the beginning of the playoffs. Hill is under contract for next year and should continue to split the goaltending duties with Thompson, barring any trades that change the composition of the Golden Knights' crease.
