  • Islanders' Alexander Romanov: Scoreless in eight straight

Romanov was scoreless once again as the Islanders lost to the Blues 7-4 on Tuesday.

That makes eight straight games that Romanov has failed to put up a crooked number on the scoresheet. Romanov was also a minus-3 in the loss Tuesday but overall has a rating of plus-3 in 27 games this season.

  • Islanders' Jean-Gabriel Pageau: Caps late charge

Pageau scored a third-period goal during Tuesday's 7-4 loss to the visiting Blues.

Pageau scored at 15:04 of the third period Tuesday, pulling the Islanders to within 5-4. The 30-year-old's seventh goal this season was his first in five games. Pageau, who recorded two shots, converted 21 seconds after Hudson Fasching's goal, but that was as close as Islanders would come. The third-line center recorded a minus-2 rating for the second time in three outings.

  • Islanders' Hudson Fasching: Ends six-year goal drought

Fasching scored a goal during Tuesday's 7-4 loss to the visiting Blues.

Deflecting in a shot at 14:43 of the third period Tuesday, Fasching ended a long wait between NHL goals. The 2013 fourth-round draft pick has dressed for 40 games over six seasons but has yet to stick for more than 11 outings during a season. Attempting to forge a bottom-six role with the Islanders, Fasching converted his first marker since his NHL debut against the Jets on March 26, 2016. Fasching finished with two shots during 12:27 of ice time in the loss.

  • Islanders' Zach Parise: Ignites three-goal surge

Parise scored a power-play goal and drew an assist during a 7-4 loss to the visiting Blues on Tuesday.

Trailing 5-1 following two third-period goals by the Blues, Parise sparked a rally that pulled the Islanders to within one goal with 4:56 to go. The 38-year-old left winger converted from the left face-off circle, his ninth this season and third with the man advantage. Parise, who produced four shots Tuesday, has notched makers in consecutive contests and has four goals in five games.

  • Islanders' Noah Dobson: Notches game-tying tally

Dobson scored a first-period goal and earned a third-period assist during Tuesday's 7-4 loss to the visiting Blues.

Dobson, who scored his second goal in four games Tuesday, continues to emerge as one of the NHL's top young defensemen. At 22 years old, Dobson, with eight goals in 27 games, is trending toward blowing by the career-best 13 markers he collected last season. Dobson's goal Tuesday developed off a first-period one-timer, tying the game at 1-1. He finished with a team-best five shots on goal during 21:25 of ice time.

  • Islanders' Ilya Sorokin: Drops third consecutive start

Sorokin turned aside 21 of 26 shots during Tuesday's 7-4 loss to the visiting Blues.

Sorokin entered Tuesday second in the NHL in save percentage (.932) and third in GAA (2.17) but surrendered five goals for the third time this season as the Islanders suffered their third loss in four outings. The 27-year-old netminder dropped his third consecutive decision Tuesday, his first prolonged losing streak since he dropped four straight last season (Nov. 11-26). Sorokin, who has allowed three or fewer goals in 16 appearances, fell to 10-8-0.

  • Islanders' Adam Pelech: Leaves Tuesday's game

Pelech (upper body) left Tuesday's game versus the Blues, and head coach Lane Lambert had no update on his status after the contest, Andrew Gross of Newsday reports.

Pelech looked dazed on a hit from Robert Bortuzzo in the third period. The 28-year-old Pelech didn't return to the game, and an update on his status will likely have to wait until prior to Friday's game versus the Devils. If he can't play, Robin Salo would likely draw into the lineup.

  • Islanders' Jean-Gabriel Pageau: Leader on the power play

Pageau leads the team in power-play goals, with four entering the game Tuesday versus the Blues.

This is unexpected as Pageau only has six goals on the season in 26 games. Pageau has only posted one season with more than 20 goals, which happened during the 2019-20 campaign. The four power-play goals this season already match his total from last year and are just one off his career high.

  • Islanders' Cal Clutterbuck: Not ready to return

Clutterbuck (upper body) won't play Tuesday against St. Louis, Andrew Gross of Newsday reports.

Clutterbuck took part in the morning skate, which suggests he is getting closer to a potential return to the lineup. He has been out since Nov. 29. Clutterbuck has recorded two goals, one assist and 85 hits in 22 games this season.

  • Islanders' Kyle Palmieri: Resumes skating

Palmieri (upper body) has resumed skating on his own, Andrew Gross of Newsday reports.

While this is certainly a step in the right direction for Palmieri, he'll likely need to log at least a few full practices with his teammates before returning to game action. He's picked up six goals and nine points through 20 contests this campaign.

  • Islanders' Ilya Sorokin: Starting against St. Louis

Per Andrew Gross of Newsday, Sorokin was the first goalie off the ice at morning skate, indicating he'll start between the pipes in Tuesday's home game against the Blues.

Sorokin was a little shaky in his last start Friday against Nashville, surrendering two goals on only 21 shots en route to a 4-1 defeat. He'll try to snap his personal two-game losing streak in a home matchup with a struggling St. Louis squad that's lost four straight contests.

  • Islanders' Oliver Wahlstrom: Scoreless in four straight

Wahlstrom hasn't registered a point in his last four games.

Wahlstrom has six goals and six assists in 25 games this season but only two goals in his last. Currently, Wahlstrom is playing on the top line with Mathew Barzal and Josh Bailey, but one has to wonder if coach Lane Lambert will shake up his lines once Kyle Palmieri and Cal Clutterbuck return from upper-body injuries.

  • Islanders' Scott Mayfield: Ends drought Sunday

Mayfield picked up an assist in Sunday's 3-0 win over the Blackhawks.

Mayfield ended a nine-game point drought with the helper. In that span, he made an impact in different ways, collecting 32 PIM, 14 blocked shots, eight hits and a plus-2 rating. The 30-year-old defenseman is more of a defensive presence for the Islanders, and he's at four goals, three helpers, 35 shots on net, 42 blocked shots, 28 hits, 34 PIM and a plus-6 rating through 26 appearances.

  • Islanders' Casey Cizikas: Assist and fight in win

Cizikas notched an assist, a fighting major, two shots on goal, two hits and two blocked shots in Sunday's 3-0 win over the Blackhawks.

Cizikas got the fight out of the way early, dropping the mitts with Reese Johnson in the first period. In the second period, Cizikas set up Matt Martin for a goal that wasn't confirmed until a review after the play initially went on. The helper was Cizikas' fifth of the season, but he's still looking for a goal 26 games in. He's added 34 PIM, 59 hits, 18 blocked shots and 27 shots on net in his usual fourth-line role.

  • Islanders' Anthony Beauvillier: Puts up assist

Beauvillier logged an assist and five shots on goal in Sunday's 3-0 win over the Blackhawks.

Beauvillier hadn't gotten on the scoresheet in the last two games, but he has two goals and two helpers in his last seven outings. The 25-year-old set up Brock Nelson on the Islanders' third goal. Beauvillier has had some ups and downs in 2022-23, logging five goals, six assists, 55 shots on net, 22 hits and an even plus-minus rating through 25 contests.

  • Islanders' Ryan Pulock: Contributes assist in win

Pulock notched an assist, three shots on goal and three blocked shots in Sunday's 3-0 win over the Blackhawks.

Pulock had been held off the scoresheet in the last two games following a four-assist explosion last Saturday versus the Flyers. The 28-year-old blueliner is up to 12 points, 35 shots on net, 45 hits, 44 blocked shots and a plus-9 rating in 26 contests. He's a solid all-around player who can provide strong category coverage in deeper fantasy formats.

  • Islanders' Adam Pelech: Notches assist

Pelech produced an assist, two shots on goal, two PIM and a plus-2 rating in Sunday's 3-0 win over the Blackhawks.

Pelech set up a Zach Parise goal in the second period. The helper was Pelech's third point in the last six contests as he continues to contribute offense from the blue line. The 28-year-old defenseman has three goals, eight assists, 33 shots, 39 blocked shots, 38 hits, 24 PIM and a plus-13 rating in 26 appearances this season.

  • Islanders' Anders Lee: Manages helper Sunday

Lee notched an assist in Sunday's 3-0 win over the Blackhawks.

Lee ended a four-game point drought with the secondary helper on Brock Nelson's second-period tally. It's been 12 games since Lee scored a goal, and he has a passable six assists and 28 shots in that span. The 32-year-old winger is up to 20 points, 68 shots, 50 hits, 28 PIM and a plus-2 rating through 26 contests, but fantasy managers would obviously want to see him find twine soon.
