Hofer allowed four goals on 15 shots before being pulled in the second period of Friday's 8-3 loss to Nashville. The Blues played about five or six minutes of collected hockey, and then the proverbial wheels fell off. Neither Hofer or Jordan Binnington, who surrendered four goals on 20 shots in relief, had a chance. The best Hofer can do is shake off the game and prep for his next one.... See More ... See Less

Blues' Joel Hofer: Set to face Predators
Hofer is expected to start in Friday's home game versus Nashville, Jeremy Rutherford of The Athletic reports. Hofer will attempt to earn his third straight win after saving 42 of 43 shots (.977 save percentage) over his last two outings. He's 5-2-0 with a 2.54 GAA and a .919 save percentage in seven contests this season. The Predators rank 19th offensively this campaign with 3.11 goals per game.... See More ... See Less -
Blues' Joel Hofer: Comes on for relief victory
Hofer kicked aside all 12 of the shots he faced for a relief win in Wednesday's 6-5 victory against the Coyotes. Hofer was summoned from the bench at 8:00 of the second period after Nick Schmaltz beat Jordan Binnington for the fifth time on just 13 shots, and bench boss Craig Berube had seen enough. Hofer didn't give up a goal in his 32 minutes of playing time, and it wouldn't be shocking to see him have earned a start heading into Friday's game against the visiting Predators.... See More ... Blues' Joel Hofer: Holds Ducks to one goal
Hofer turned aside 30 of 31 shots in a 3-1 win over Anaheim on Sunday. Hofer's only blemish was a goal scored by Mason McTavish midway through the second frame. The 23-year-old netminder improved to 4-2-0 with a 2.80 GAA and a .914 save percentage in six games this season. Those are solid results, but No. 1 goaltender Jordan Binnington has excelled with a 2.47 GAA and a .922 save percentage over 12 outings, so Binnington is expected to continue to get the majority of St. Louis' starts.... Blues' Joel Hofer: Tending twine Sunday
Hofer will get the starting nod in Anaheim on Sunday, Matthew DeFranks of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports. Hofer is looking to bounce back after getting tagged with four goals on 21 shots before getting yanked during Thursday's 5-1 loss to the Sharks. The 23-year-old had allowed just four goals over his previous three outings. He's now 3-2-0 with a .902 save percentage and a 3.19 GAA through five appearances this season.... See More ... See Less -
Blues' Joel Hofer: Yields four goals before pull
Hofer allowed four goals on 21 shots in Thursday's 5-1 loss to the Sharks. Hofer was given the hook early in the second period after giving up three goals over the first 3:25 of that frame. The damage was already done, as the Blues couldn't bounce back. Hofer has two really good games, two really bad outings and one average showing to his name this season. He's 3-2-0 with a 3.20 GAA and a .902 save percentage. While this was an ugly outing, Hofer should get a chance for redemption over the weekend -- the Blues have a back-to-back versus the Kings on Saturday and the Ducks on Sunday.... See More ... Blues' Joel Hofer: Makes 19 saves in win
Hofer stopped 19 of 20 shots in Thursday's 2-1 win over the Coyotes. After allowing a power-play goal in the first period, Hofer settled in and blanked the Coyotes over his final two frames en route to a one-goal victory. The 23-year-old Hofer has won his last three starts, posting an impressive .950 save percentage in that span. Overall, he's 3-1-1 with a .918 save percentage and 2.50 GAA on the campaign while backing up Jordan Binnington.... See More ... See Less -
Blues' Joel Hofer: Starting against Arizona
Per Matthew DeFranks of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, Hofer was the first goalie off the ice at morning skate, putting him on track to guard the home goal against the Coyotes on Thursday. Hofer was decent in his last start Saturday against the Canadiens, turning aside 30 of 33 shots en route to a 6-3 victory. The 23-year-old netminder will try to extend his personal winning streak to three games in a home matchup with a middling Arizona offense that's averaging 3.25 goals per game this campaign, 14th in the NHL.... Blues' Joel Hofer: Second straight win
Hofer made 30 saves in a 6-3 win over Montreal on Saturday. Juraj Slafkovsky beat him on the power play early in the first to tie the game at 1-1. Hofer was also beat by Brendan Gallagher on a bang-bang play from the slot to cut the game to 3-2, and when Nick Suzuki deflected a Cole Caufield shot from the blue line at 18:32 of the third for the 6-3 final. Hofer has settled down after allowing six goals in his first game, winning two straight decisions with just three goals allowed. Jordan Binnington has gotten off to a strong start, but Hofer will be there for your fantasy roster when -- not if -- Binnington misses time.... See More ... See Less -
Blues' Joel Hofer: Starting Saturday
Hofer will patrol the home crease Saturday against Montreal, per Matthew DeFranks of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch. Hofer has stopped 63 of 69 shots in two outings this season en route to a 1-1-0 record. He registered a 27-save shutout victory over Calgary on Oct. 26 in his last appearance. Montreal ranks 20th in the league this campaign with 2.09 goals per game.... See More ... See Less -
Blues' Joel Hofer: Earns first career shutout
Hofer posted a 26-save shutout in Thursday's 3-0 win over the Flames. Hofer earned his first shutout in his 10th career appearance. The 23-year-old netminder struggled in his previous start this season, yielding six goals on 42 shots against the Coyotes. With Jordan Binnington starting the season hot, Hofer will have to keep playing like he did Thursday to earn a respectable share of playing time. It's expected Binnington will get the nod Friday in Vancouver.... See More ... See Less -
Blues' Joel Hofer: Falls to Coyotes
Hofer allowed six goals on 42 shots in Thursday's 6-2 loss to Arizona. It was a tough night for the 23-year-old Hofer in his first start of the year. He allowed five goals over the final two periods -- he was bombarded with 31 shots in that span. Hofer is expected to serve as Jordan Binnington's backup this season. Hofer played just six games last year, where he went 3-1-1 with a .905 save percentage.... See More ... See Less -
Blues' Joel Hofer: Returning to AHL
Hofer will be reassigned to AHL Springfield on Thursday, Lou Korac of NHL.com reports. Hofer gave up five goals on 37 shots in a loss to the Stars on Wednesday, which will be his last NHL outing of the season. He went 3-1-1 in six appearances, allowing 17 goals in a solid but unremarkable showing this year. Hofer will likely have a chance to win the backup job in training camp next fall.... See More ... Blues' Joel Hofer: Gives up five again
Hofer allowed five goals on 37 shots in Wednesday's 5-2 loss to the Stars. Hofer was handed his first regulation loss of the season by the surging Stars, falling to 3-1-1 in six starts. He allowed five goals in his previous start as well but didn't wind up with a decision in that one. Hofer provided a spark for a while, but his last couple outings suggest the 22-year-old netminder may need more seasoning in the AHL. Jordan Binnington is expected to start St. Louis' season finale Thursday against these same Stars.... See More ... See Less -
Blues' Joel Hofer: Slated to start
Per Jim Thomas of The St. Louis Post-Dispatch, Hofer was the first goalie off the ice at morning skate, putting him on track to guard the home goal versus the Stars on Wednesday. Hofer has been pretty solid during his limited time in the NHL this season, going 3-0-1 while posting a respectable 2.79 GAA and .915 save percentage through five games. He'll try to secure his fourth win of the year in a home matchup with a red-hot Dallas team that's won four straight games.... See More ... See Less -
Blues' Joel Hofer: Assigned to AHL
Hofer was assigned to AHL Springfield on Monday. Hofer has a 3-0-1 record at the NHL level this season with a 2.79 GAA and a .915 save percentage through five starts. He got the hook in the first period against Los Angeles on Sunday after giving up five goals on 17 shots in a 7-6 loss. Hofer's demotion puts Jordan Binnington back in the No. 1 goalie slot for the Blues.... See More ... See Less -
Blues' Joel Hofer: Remains undefeated in regulation
Hofer made 25 saves in a 4-3 win over the Red Wings on Thursday. Hofer is 3-0-1 with one shutout and seven goals allowed in four starts this season. He is auditioning for a role with the big club for next season and so far, so good. Hofer may continue to see more ice time than the other Blues' goalies over the next few weeks, and he has the talent to deliver decent starts for a deep fantasy squads.... See More ... See Less -
Blues' Joel Hofer: Gets win but not shutout Sunday
Hofer turned aside all 33 shots he faced in Sunday's 3-0 win over the Jets. He would have gotten a shutout in his fourth career NHL appearance, but Hofer left the ice briefly in the second period to get his skate checked out and Thomas Greiss made one save in his absence. It was still a stellar performance for Hofer, who has won two straight starts since being called up Thursday while stopping 65 of 67 shots. Jordan Binnington's suspension is now up, but the fact that the rebuilding Blues gave both starts to Hofer rather than Greiss in his absence suggests the youngster may not immediately be headed back to AHL Springfield. With Greiss headed for free agency in the offseason, Hofer could get a longer look over the final weeks of the regular season.... See More ... See Less -
Blues' Joel Hofer: Starting Sunday
Hofer will defend the home goal versus Winnipeg on Sunday, Matthew DeFranks of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports. Hofer was outstanding Friday in his season debut, stopping 32 shots in a 5-2 win over Washington. He has spent most of the season with AHL Springfield, going 22-14-4 with a 2.50 GAA and .920 save percentage. Hofer is currently replacing the suspended Jordan Binnington, who will be eligible to return Tuesday in Detroit. Should Hofer perform well against his hometown Jets team, he could earn more playing time even after Binnington's return. Winnipeg is averaging 3.06 goals per contest.... See More ... See Less -
Blues' Joel Hofer: Earns win in NHL season debut
Hofer saved 32 of 34 shots in a 5-2 victory over Washington on Friday. Hofer was making his season debut, and the Blues provided him with plenty of offensive support to secure the victory. Jordan Binnington was serving the first outing of his two-game suspension, which is why Hofer is up with St. Louis. Once Binnington's eligible to return for the Blues' game against Detroit on March 21, the 22-year-old goaltender will probably head back to AHL Springfield, where he's posted a 2.50 GAA and a .920 save percentage in 40 contests....
