Kirkland signed a one-year, two-way contract with Arizona on Saturday.
Kirkland spent last season in the Anaheim organization, playing seven games with the Ducks with nary a point. It was the first time in the NHL for the 26-year-old, who also spent time at AHL San Diego, where he managed nine goals and 18 points in 32 games.

Kirkland was on the injured reserve list, but he was presumably activated before being waived. If he clears, the 26-year-old will likely be sent to the minors. This is obviously great news for Kirkland and the Ducks, but at this point it remains to be seen if the 26-year-old winger will be available for Wednesday's game against Edmonton or Friday's matchup with New Jersey. Kirkland's gone scoreless through seven top-level appearances this season.

Kirkland tallied a phenomenal 31 goals and 36 assists in 69 contests in the WHL this season for an average of just under a point per game. The third-round pick will likely join AHL Milwaukee to start the 2016-17 campaign, but if he can continue to write his name onto the scoresheet with consistency, he could make an appearance in the NHL sooner rather than later.
