  • Panthers' Laviska Shenault: Injury-shortened season

Shenault finished the regular season with 10 catches on 10 targets for 60 yards and 12 carries for 55 yards in eight games. He also returned six kickoffs for 167 yards. Shenault landed on injured reserve in late November due to an ankle injury. When healthy, he remained in a gadget role that attempted to highlight his tackle-breaking potential. After seeing his production drop off in consecutive seasons upon joining the Panthers, the former second-round pick will now become an unrestricted free agent this offseason.

  • Panthers' Laviska Shenault: Lands on IR with ankle injury

Carolina placed Shenault (ankle) on injured reserve Thursday, Darin Gantt of the Panthers' official site reports. Shenault suffered a high-ankle sprain in Carolina's Week 6 loss to the Miami, and though he was never placed on IR, he missed three consecutive games before returning to action Week 11. However, while playing his second straight game this past Sunday against the Titans, Shenault sustained a new ankle injury after playing just two snaps on offense before being ruled out for the rest of the contest. The Panthers haven't clarified the extent of Shenault's new injury, but as a result of landing on IR, he'll be sidelined for at least the next four games. Given Carolina's league-worst 1-10 record, Shenault could be a candidate to get shut down for the season rather than preparing for a potential return from IR when first eligible to return Week 17.

  • Panthers' Laviska Shenault: DNP due to ankle injury

Shenault (ankle) didn't practice Wednesday. After leaving this past Sunday's loss to Tennessee due to an ankle injury, Shenault remains bothered by the injury. If Shenault's able to recover by Sunday's game against the Buccaneers, he could work as a depth option out of the slot or in the backfield for the Panthers in interim head coach Chris Tabor's debut. Shenault will have two more opportunities to practice before the Panthers release their final injury report Friday.

  • Panthers' Laviska Shenault: Won't return against Tennessee

Shenault (ankle) has been ruled out for the rest of Sunday's game against the Titans, Darin Gantt of the Panthers' official site reports. Shenault briefly came back to Sunday's game after sustaining an ankle injury, but he left again and won't return. He caught his only target for eight yards.

  • Panthers' Laviska Shenault: Gets back in

Shenault (ankle) has returned to Sunday's game against the Titans, Mike Kaye of The Charlotte Observer reports. Shenault exited early in the first half, but he was able to return to the field to start the third quarter. His return should strengthen the Panthers' depth at receiver.

  • Panthers' Laviska Shenault: Questionable to return

Shenault (ankle) is questionable to return to Sunday's game against the Titans, Joe Person of The Athletic reports. The wide receiver did not record a catch before exiting. Shenault has nine catches for 52 yards and 12 carries for 55 yards this season.

  • Panthers' Laviska Shenault: Makes two grabs

Shenault caught both of his targets for nine yards in Sunday's 33-10 loss to the Cowboys. Shenault hadn't played since Week 6 due to an ankle injury. Although he managed merely three offensive snaps, Shenault got the ball on two of them. Still, as a depth utility option on one of the league's worst offenses, Shenault holds little fantasy value.

  • Panthers' Laviska Shenault: Good to go vs. Dallas

Shenault (ankle) is officially active for Sunday's game versus the Cowboys. Shenault was considered questionable despite putting in a full practice Friday, so it's not a huge surprise he's suiting up Sunday. The 25-year-old could face some limitations in his return from a three-game absence, with coach Frank Reich indicating the wideout's workload would be gradually increased.

  • Panthers' Laviska Shenault: Questionable after full practice

Shenault (ankle) was a full practice participant Friday and is listed as questionable for Sunday's game against Dallas, David Newton of ESPN.com reports. Coach Frank Reich said Friday that the Panthers will gradually increase Shenault's workload if he is able to return this weekend. The full practice suggests he's more likely than not to be back in action, but perhaps only as the fourth or fifth WR and without a role in the return game.

  • Panthers' Laviska Shenault: Limited Thursday

Shenault (ankle) was a limited participant in Thursday's practice. Shenault was able to log limited practices both Wednesday and Thursday as he continues to nurse an ankle injury that's held him out of Carolina's last three games. The 2020 second-round pick out of Colorado will likely carry an injury designation into the weekend unless he's able to log a full practice Friday.

  • Panthers' Laviska Shenault: Gets back on field

Shenault (ankle) logged a limited practice Wednesday. Shenault has missed each of the Panthers' last three games, but his ability to get in a limited practice Wednesday should be a step in the right direction for the wideout. Considering the amount of time he's missed, he'll likely need to ramp up to a full participant Thursday or Friday if he's going to suit up Sunday against the Cowboys.

  • Panthers' Laviska Shenault: Missing another practice

Shenault (ankle) is not expected to practice Tuesday, Augusta Stone of the Panthers' official site reports. The fourth-year wideout has already missed two games in a row with an ankle issue, and with Shenault likely recording another DNP on Tuesday, he seems to be a longshot to suit up for Thursday night's contest. Through six games this year, Shenault has recorded 98 yards from scrimmage on 19 total touches.

  • Panthers' Laviska Shenault: DNP at walk-through session

Shenault (ankle) was a non-participant at Monday's walk-through practice, Darin Gantt of the Panthers' official website reports. Shenault has missed two straight games since the Panthers' bye week due to an ankle injury sustained against the Dolphins in Week 6. His failure to participate in any way at the walk-through practice does not bode well for his chances to suit up on a short week. Still, more clarity will be gained as the week progresses.

  • Panthers' Laviska Shenault: Misses Thursday's practice

Shenault (ankle) did not participate in Thursday's practice. Shenault recorded his second consecutive DNP on Thursday, and it seems as if he's still recovering from the ankle sprain he suffered during Carolina's Week 6 loss to the Dolphins. The 25-year-old receiver will likely carry an injury designation into the weekend after missing Thursday's practice.

  • Panthers' Laviska Shenault: Misses practice Wednesday

Shenault (ankle) did not participate at practice Wednesday, Darin Gantt of the Panthers' official site reports. Shenault sat out of Sunday's game versus Houston tending to his high ankle sprain, and he's still not ready for activity to begin Carolina's new week of practice. He'll probably need to practice in some capacity Thursday or Friday to have a chance to play in Week 9.

  • Panthers' Laviska Shenault: Won't play against Houston

Shenault (ankle) has been ruled out for Sunday's game against the Texans, David Newton of ESPN.com reports. Shenault suffered a high-ankle sprain in Week 6 against the Dolphins, and Carolina's Week 7 bye didn't afford him enough recovery time. Without Shenault available to handle a change-of-pace role out of the backfield, a few extra touches could go to Miles Sanders and Chuba Hubbard, who are expected to split carries. Shenault's next chance to suit up will come Week 9 against the Colts on Nov. 5.

  • Panthers' Laviska Shenault: Idle for another practice

Shenault (ankle) didn't participate in Thursday's practice. Shenault has sat out both of Carolina's first two practices of Week 8 and could be headed for an absence this Sunday against the Texans coming out of the Panthers' Week 7 bye. The 25-year-old exited early in the Panthers' final game before the bye Oct. 15 against the Dolphins with a high-ankle sprain, an injury that often entails a multi-week recovery. Though he's listed as a receiver, Shenault has seen more involvement as a runner (12 carries for 55 yards) than a pass catcher (seven receptions for 43 yards on seven targets) through Carolina's first six games.

  • Panthers' Laviska Shenault: Misses Wednesday's practice

Shenault (ankle) did not participate at practice Wednesday, Darin Gantt of the Panthers' official site reports. Even with the benefit of a Week 7 bye, Shenault is still tending to the high ankle sprain he sustained in Week 6 at Miami. Unless he can get back to practice Thursday or Friday, it's not likely he'll play Sunday versus Houston.

  • Panthers' Laviska Shenault: Leaves game with leg injury

Shenault is questionable to return to Sunday's contest against the Dolphins due to a fibula injury, Joe Person of The Athletic reports. Shenault was carted to the locker room after sustaining the injury in the first half. He had three catches for 15 yards and one carry for two yards before exiting Sunday's contest.

  • Panthers' Laviska Shenault: Could play more with Sanders out

Head coach Frank Reich said Friday that Shenault will have a role in Carolina's rushing attack with Miles Sanders (shoulder) out Sunday in Miami, though Chuba Hubbard is expected to lead the team's backfield, David Newton of ESPN.com reports. While Shenault is listed as a wide receiver, most of his usage has come on the ground, as he has 11 carries for 53 yards compared to four catches for 28 yards through five games. Sanders' absence could lead to more opportunities for Shenault, though the biggest beneficiary of the lead back's absence Sunday is likely to be Hubbard, who actually out-snapped and out-touched Sanders over the past two weeks.
