  • Raiders' K.J. Wright: Placed on COVID list

Wright (illness) was placed on the reserve/COVID-19 list Monday after testing positive for the virus, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports. Wright and fellow linebackers Denzel Perryman, Cory Littleton and Patrick Onwuasor all tested positive for COVID-19 on Monday. The Raiders' linebacking corps will have its depth tested if none of them are able to clear the health and safety protocols in time to play Week 17.

  • Raiders' K.J. Wright: Role change for Monday

Wright will start at middle linebacker for the Raiders on Monday against the Cleveland, Steve Wyche of NFL Network reports. With Will Compton being ruled out Monday due to personal reasons and Denzel Perryman already confirmed to be unavailable with an ankle injury, Wright will shift from his usual role of starting strong-side linebacker to the middle. Patrick Onwuasor is the most likely candidate to start on the strong side for the Raiders on Monday against Cleveland.

  • Seahawks' K.J. Wright: Able to rebound for Week 10

Wright (ankle) is active for Sunday's matchup against the Rams. The one-time Pro Bowl linebacker seemed to have a bleak outlook for this NFC West showdown late in the practice week, sitting out both Wednesday and Thursday because of his recent ankle injury. Coach Pete Carroll remained optimistic, however, indicating the veteran still had a chance to go against Los Angeles despite a curtailed practice workload. Wright, in fact, has powered through the issue, and he will make his ninth start of the season against a Rams team that ranks No. 6 in the NFL in total offense.

  • Seahawks' K.J. Wright: Outstanding in Week 4 win

Wright recorded eight tackles, three pass breakups and a forced fumble in Sunday's 31-23 win over the Dolphins. Wright put together his best game of the season, consistently sniffing out screen passes and nearly intercepting a pass in the first half. The 31-year-old linebacker has stepped up admirably with a good chunk of the secondary, including Jamal Adams (groin), out of the lineup, and with 17 tackles over the last two contests, he's a solid IDP play as well.

  • Seahawks' K.J. Wright: Hits double-digit tackles Sunday

Wright made 10 tackles (seven solo) in Sunday's 38-31 win over the Cowboys. After handling limited workloads over the first two games of the season, Wright played every snap against the Cowboys and predictably made a major impact. With Bruce Irvin (torn ACL) out for the season and Jordyn Brooks (knee) expected to miss time, Wright has virtually no competition for reps at outside linebacker moving forward. Coming off a career-high 132 stops in 2019, Wright is a solid IDP play in Week 4 against the Dolphins

  • Seahawks' K.J. Wright: On track for Week 1

Wright (shoulder) said Thursday that he's ahead of schedule in his recovery from offseason surgery and expects to be fully healthy for Week 1, Curtis Crabtree of Sports Radio 950 KJR Seattle reports. Wright handled 93 percent of snaps on defense for the Seahawks last season while starting a full 16-game slate. If he's indeed able to make a full recovery in time to kick off the 2020 campaign, he'll once again serve as a pillar of the team's linebacker corps. Coming off a career-high year in terms of tackles (132 total) and defended passes (11), Wright should once again be a valuable IDP asset entering his age-31 season.

  • Seahawks' K.J. Wright: Recovering from surgery

General manager John Schneider said Thursday that Wright underwent surgery this offseason and is focusing on rehab, Bob Condotta of The Seattle Times reports. The nature of Wright's procedure remains undisclosed, though Schneider did say that it wasn't a serious surgery, per Michael-Shawn Dugar of The Athletic. Wright is coming off a 2019 campaign in which he notched a career-best 132 tackles, 11 passes defensed and three interceptions. Barring any setbacks in his recovery, he stands to once again play a starting role in Seattle's linebacker corps for the 2020 season.

  • Seahawks' K.J. Wright: Reaches career highs in 2019

Wright, who made 12 tackles and 1.5 sacks over two playoff games, finished with 132 tackles, 11 pass breakups and three interceptions over 16 regular-season contests in 2019. This was essentially a contract year for Wright, as he carries a $10 million cap hit in 2020 but only $2.5 million if he's cut before the new league year begins in March. The 30-year-old answered the bell with career highs in tackles, pass breakups and interceptions.

  • Seahawks' K.J. Wright: Absent from injury report

Wright (finger) wasn't listed on Wednesday's injury report, John Boyle of the Seahawks' official site reports. Despite dislocating his finger in Week 14's loss to the Rams, Wright won't miss a beat. It's possible the veteran linebacker wears extra protection on his finger going forward, but there's no indication he'll fall out of his typical every-down role. Wright continues to be a valuable IDP asset, as he's second on the team with 109 tackles while already reaching a new career high of eight pass breakups.

  • Seahawks' K.J. Wright: Picks up shoulder issue

Wright (shoulder) was a limited participant in Wednesday's practice, John Boyle of the Seahawks' official site reports. This is a new injury for Wright, who has battled a knee injury at points this year but hasn't missed any time. The veteran linebacker doesn't appear to be in jeopardy of sitting out Sunday against the Eagles, but it's worth monitoring his practice status. Wright is a premier IDP option, as he's racked up 83 tackles and seven pass breakups through 10 contests.

  • Seahawks' K.J. Wright: Headed for open market

Wright is expected to test free agency, Bob Condotta of The Seattle Times reports. Long overshadowed in a star-studded Seattle defense, Wright survived the veteran purge last offseason but then missed 11 games due to knee issues in 2018. He did play in 63 of a possible 64 games over the previous four years, averaging 114 tackles, two forced fumbles and 1.8 sacks per season. Wright helped his cause when he proved his health during the playoffs with eight tackles (seven solo) and an interception in a loss to the Cowboys. Now scheduled for unrestricted free agency ahead of his age-30 season, the veteran linebacker may need to leave Seattle if he wants another multi-year contract with significant guarantees. The Seahawks have ample cap space for the first time in years, but they seem to be more focused on the other side of the ball while implementing a youth movement around Bobby Wagner on defense.

  • Seahawks' K.J. Wright: Return on tap

Wright (knee) doesn't carry an injury designation into Sunday's game against the Chiefs, Curtis Crabtree of Sports Radio 950 KJR Seattle reports. Wright has missed the last five games due to a lingering knee injury but should be ready to return to his starting role in the Seattle linebacking corps. The 29-year-old's presence will be a boon for Seattle's defense as the unit attempts to contain Patrick Mahomes in a primetime matchup.

  • Seahawks' K.J. Wright: Inactive for Week 11

Wright (knee) is inactive for Thursday's game against the Packers. Wright was unable to participate in practice at all this week, so his lack of availability is anything but surprising. The veteran linebacker aggravated a lingering knee issue during a Week 10 loss to the Rams, and he'll remain sidelined for Thursday Night Football as he works to recover. Shaquem Griffin and Austin Calitro are expected to receive increased defensive roles in Wright's absence.

  • Seahawks' K.J. Wright: Good to go for Week 10

Wright (knee) is active for Sunday's game against the Rams, John Boyle of the Seahawks' official site reports. After missing the Seahawks' first six games while recovering from knee surgery, Wright's practice reps have been limited ahead of each of the subsequent three contests. There wasn't any indication that the linebacker suffered any setbacks with the knee coming out of the Week 9 loss to the Chargers, so he should be in store for a full load of snaps in the divisional showdown.

  • Seahawks' K.J. Wright: Slots into Sunday's lineup

Wright (knee) is active for Sunday's game versus the Chargers. Wright made his season debut in Week 8 against the Lions, and he made five tackles and broke up a pass. The veteran linebacker averaged 7.2 tackles per game last year, but he may still be feeling the side effects of his knee issue and be hindered from reaching that rate again. Regardless, he'll look to slow down Chargers' running back Melvin Gordon in this matchup.

  • Seahawks' K.J. Wright: Questionable for Sunday

Wright (knee) is listed as questionable for Sunday's matchup with the Chargers, Curtis Crabtree of Sports Radio 950 KJR Seattle reports. Wright made his 2018 debut last week after sitting out to recover from an arthroscopic knee procedure he underwent in late August. Despite not practicing Wednesday or Thursday, head coach Pete Carroll said he expects Wright to play Sunday. If Wright did in fact aggravate his injury last week and misses time Sunday, Austin Calitro would likely fill in again.

  • Seahawks' K.J. Wright: No practice Wednesday

Wright (knee) sat out Wednesday's practice, John Boyle of the Seahawks' official site reports. Wright -- who underwent arthroscopic knee surgery in late August -- made his 2018 debut on Sunday against the Lions, compiling five tackles and one pass breakup. It's unknown if Wright re-aggravated his knee during the game, but it's likely the Seahawks are just giving him extra time to rest by keeping him out of practice.

  • Seahawks' K.J. Wright: Shows well in 2018 debut

Wright logged five tackles and one pass breakup during Sunday's 28-14 victory over Detroit. Making his first appearance of the season, Wright instantly commanded a hefty workload, logging 50 of a possible 59 defensive snaps. It's possible he could see an even higher percentage of the snaps once he's fully back into the swing of things. In his full-time role with the Seahawks last season, Wright averaged 7.2 tackles per game.

  • Seahawks' K.J. Wright: Returns to practice field

Wright (knee) returned to practice in a limited fashion Tuesday, Liz Matthews of USA Today reports. Coach Pete Carroll could not commit to Wright's availability for Sunday's game at Detroit, but his return to the practice field is a solid step in the right direction. The Seahawks official injury report comes out Wednesday, which should provide additional clarification on the 29-year-old's status for Week 8.

  • Seahawks' K.J. Wright: Will miss another game

Coach Pete Carroll ruled Wright (knee) out for Sunday's game against the Raiders, Brady Henderson of ESPN.com reports. Per Gregg Bell of The Tacoma News Tribune, Carroll said Wright will resume running this week, but it would be "too much to ask" for the linebacker make the trip with the Seahawks to London for Sunday's matchup. Though Wright has yet to suit up this season, the expectation is that with two more weeks to ramp up from the injury -- the Seahawks are on bye in Week 7 -- the 29-year-old will be ready to make his debut in Seattle's subsequent game Oct. 28 in Detroit. Shaquem Griffin and Jacob Martin will likely lose out on snaps once Wright is back to full strength.
