Hurricanes' Dmitry Orlov: Won't play Sunday
Orlov (upper body) has been ruled out for Sunday's game against the Jets, Cory Lavalette of the North State Journal reports.
Orlov was unavailable for Thursday's game against the Bruins due to a minor upper-body injury, and head coach Rod Brind'Amour said Sunday that the defenseman isn't yet back to 100 percent. Scott Morrow will enter the lineup against Winnipeg, while Orlov's next chance to return will be Tuesday against the Lightning.

Hurricanes' Frederik Andersen: Starting against Winnipeg
Andersen is starting Sunday's home game against the Jets, Walt Ruff of the Hurricanes' official site reports.
Andersen and Pyotr Kochetkov have alternated starts recently, and that trend will continue against Winnipeg. Over his last five starts, Andersen has gone 1-4-0 with a 2.67 GAA and .894 save percentage. The Jets rank third in the NHL with 3.52 goals per game this season.

Hurricanes' Scott Morrow: Summoned from minors
Morrow was recalled from AHL Chicago on Saturday.
Riley Stillman was assigned to the Wolves in a related transaction. Morrow did not record a point in two appearances with the big club earlier in the campaign. Dmitry Orlov (undisclosed) might not be available for Sunday's home game against the Jets, which would open the door for Morrow to draw into the lineup.

Hurricanes' Riley Stillman: Quickly recalled
Stillman was called up from AHL Chicago on Saturday, per Walt Ruff of the Hurricanes' official site.
Stillman was sent down Friday after clearing waivers. He was injured Thursday on his opening shift against the Bruins and did not return, but is well enough to play Sunday versus the Jets. Stillman could play versus Winnipeg if Dmitry Orlov (undisclosed) is unavailable.

Hurricanes' Riley Stillman: Shipped to AHL
Stillman was assigned to AHL Chicago on Friday.
This move indicates the facial injury Stillman suffered Thursday is not serious, and it also preserves the 26-year-old's playoff eligibility for the Wolves. If the Hurricanes want him back for defensive depth in the NHL, he could be called up again prior to Sunday's game versus the Jets after clearing waivers Friday.

Hurricanes' Mark Jankowski: Swapped for pick
Jankowski was acquired by Carolina from Nashville on Friday in exchange for a 2026 fifth-round pick, according to Brooks Bratten of the Predators' official site.
Jankowski has four goals, nine points, 15 PIM, 23 hits and 20 blocks in 41 appearances with Nashville in 2024-25. He gives Carolina another veteran option for its bottom six, but it wouldn't be shocking if he is also a healthy scratch on occasion.

Hurricanes' William Carrier: Expected to return for playoffs
Carrier (lower body) is expected to be available to return before the start of the postseason, Chip Alexander of The Raleigh News & Observer reports Friday.
Carrier underwent surgery in late January to address a lower-body injury, and while he doesn't yet have a precise timetable to return to action, it appears as though he'll be back on the ice before the playoffs begin in late April. Over 39 appearances with the Hurricanes this season, Carrier has recorded four goals, five assists, 136 hits and 16 PIM while averaging 11:37 of ice time.

Hurricanes' Brent Burns: Lights lamp Thursday
Burns scored a goal on three shots, blocked three shots and went plus-2 in Thursday's 3-2 win over the Bruins.
Burns ended his five-game point drought with the second-period tally. He's picked up four points over 11 outings since the start of February, but his ice time has dipped slightly -- he's averaging 21:01 in that span compared to 21:23 per game this season. At 39 years old, he remains an effective defender, but his offense has taken another hit with just 22 points across 63 appearances in 2024-25.

Hurricanes' Seth Jarvis: Tallies game-winner
Jarvis scored a goal on two shots and blocked two shots in Thursday's 3-2 win over the Bruins.
The Hurricanes had one go-ahead goal wiped out for being offside, but Jarvis capitalized on a turnover to put them ahead for good with 19 seconds left in the third period. The 23-year-old snapped a three-game slump with the game-winner, his second such goal this season. Overall, he has 24 tallies, 23 assists, 144 shots on net, 79 hits and a plus-3 rating through 56 appearances while seeing time in all situations.

Hurricanes' Logan Stankoven: Traded to Carolina
Stankoven was acquired by Carolina, along with two first-round picks and a pair of third-round selections from Dallas for Mikko Rantanen, Emily Kaplan of ESPN reports Friday.
Stankoven has been seeing fourth-line time with the Stars of late, but he should move up to a top-six role with the Hurricanes. Stankoven had nine goals, 20 assists and 148 shots on goal over 59 games with the Stars. The 22-year-old should also see plenty of power-play time with Carolina.

Hurricanes' Sebastian Aho: Stays hot with shortie
Aho scored a shorthanded goal in Thursday's 3-2 win over the Bruins.
Defensive miscues by Boston in its own end led to Carolina's first and last goals of the night, and Aho was the recipient of the first gift early in the first period. It was the 27-year-old center's fourth tally in the last five games, and over his last 14 appearances he's piled up 10 goals and 14 points. Aho sits one goal short of his seventh career 25-goal campaign.

Hurricanes' Pyotr Kochetkov: Wins third straight start
Kochetkov made 32 saves in Thursday's 3-2 win over the Bruins.
The 25-year-old goalie won his third straight start, and Kochetkov's 23 wins on the season tie the career high he set in 2023-24. He's allowed more than three goals only once in 15 outings since the beginning of January, going 9-4-2 over that stretch with a 2.40 GAA and .909 save percentage, and Carolina has little reason right now to deviate from its strict rotation in the crease between Kochetkov and Frederik Andersen.

Hurricanes' Riley Stillman: Leaves Thursday's game
Stillman (face) won't return to Thursday's game versus the Bruins, Cory Lavalette of the North State Journal reports.
Stillman took a skate to the face on his first shift, Lavalette adds. Stillman's exit is reportedly for precautionary reasons -- he was a fill-in for Dmitry Orlov (undisclosed) in this contest, who was a late scratch just before puck drop, so it's possible the Hurricanes are just being careful with their defense in a precarious position.

Hurricanes' Riley Stillman: Playing Thursday
Stillman remains on the Hurricanes' roster for Thursday's game versus the Bruins, per the NHL media site.
Stillman was waived Thursday, but he can continue to play while on waivers. The move was likely made to give the Hurricanes more roster flexibility. Stillman will be in the lineup Thursday because Dmitry Orlov (undisclosed) is dealing with a minor injury that will keep him out of action for at least one game.

Hurricanes' Dmitry Orlov: Out of action Thursday
Orlov (undisclosed) won't play Thursday versus the Bruins due to a minor injury.
Orlov will miss a game, but it doesn't sound like the team is overly worried about his status. Riley Stillman will fill in as a third-pairing defenseman after being waived earlier in the day. The Hurricanes' next game is Sunday versus the Jets.

Hurricanes' Pyotr Kochetkov: Expected to start Thursday
Kochetkov is slated to start at home against Boston on Thursday.
Kochetkov won his previous two starts while stopping 28 of 31 shots (.903 save percentage). He's 22-11-3 with a 2.49 GAA and a .902 save percentage in 37 outings. The Bruins rank 28th in goals per game with 2.70.

Hurricanes' Riley Stillman: On waiver wire
Stillman was designated for waivers by Carolina on Thursday, Walt Ruff of the Hurricanes' official site reports.
While it could be nothing more than a technical paper transaction, the decision to waive Stillman could be an indication the Hurricanes are looking to bolster their defensive group ahead of Friday's trade deadline. The 26-year-old blueliner has played in just two NHL games for Carolina this season in which he averaged a paltry 4:46 of ice time. Assuming he clears, Stillman should link up with AHL Chicago -- at least until the 23-man roster limit lifts.
