Blue Jackets' Denton Mateychuk: Reassigned to AHL Cleveland
Mateychuk was reassigned from WHL Moose Jaw to AHL Cleveland on Monday.
Mateychuk could make his professional debut in Tuesday's Game 3 Calder Cup clash with AHL Hershey, boosting the team's blue-line depth. With junior club WHL Moose Jaw, the 19-year-old Winnipeg native generated 17 goals and 58 assists in 52 regular-season outings before adding another 30 points in 20 postseason contests. Heading into the 2024-25 campaign, Mateychuk should at least have a chance to make the Blue Jackets' 23-man roster for Opening Night.

Blue Jackets' Denton Mateychuk: Racks up helpers at Traverse City
Mateychuk led the Traverse City Prospect Tournament with seven assists in only two games, including five on the power play, Max Bultman of The Athletic reports.
The 19-year-old blueliner was the 12th overall pick in the 2022 NHL Draft and spent last season with WHL Moose Jaw, piling up eight goals and 65 points in 63 games. Mateychuk still has a year of junior eligibility remaining and will likely head back to Moose Jaw, especially after the Blue Jackets bolstered their blue line this offseason with veterans Damon Severson and Ivan Provorov, but Mateychuk could be pushing for a spot on the Columbus power play within the next couple years.
