Islanders' Jean-Gabriel Pageau: Goalless streak at 13 games
Pageau hasn't lit the lamp in his last 13 games.
Pageau might be the definition of a player who parlayed a career season into a big contract. He had 26 goals during the 2019-20 campaign but hasn't scored more than 18 goals in any season since. It would seem that Pageau will remain at center as he is top five in the NHL in faceoff win percentage (Horvat is also top five). This would make one believe that either Mathew Barzal or Brock Nelson will be moved to the wing when the Islanders next play Monday versus the Flyers.... See More ... See Less
Islanders' Jean-Gabriel Pageau: Collects assist Monday
Pageau produced an assist and two shots on goal in Monday's 4-3 overtime loss to the Capitals.
Pageau is in a six-game goal drought, but he's managed three assists in that span. The 30-year-old center also failed to record a hit for the first time since Dec. 19. He's at 10 goals, 16 helpers, 81 shots on net, 125 hits, 39 blocked shots and a minus-5 rating through 45 contests overall.... See More ... See Less
Islanders' Jean-Gabriel Pageau: Supplies helper Friday
Pageau notched an assist, four hits and three blocked shots in Friday's 4-1 loss to the Flames.
Pageau set up Zach Parise's goal in the first period. In the second, Pageau had a chance on a shorthanded rush, but Jacob Markstrom made the save. With three goals and three assists over his last seven contests, Pageau's offense is in good form. The 30-year-old center has 24 points (eight on the power play), 74 shots on net, 115 hits, 37 blocked shots and a minus-5 rating through 41 outings overall. He's on pace to top his career high of 43 points from 2015-16.... See More ... See Less
Islanders' Jean-Gabriel Pageau: Does damage on special teams
Pageau scored a pair of goals and added eight hits in Tuesday's 6-2 win over the Canucks.
Pageau's first goal put the Islanders up 2-1 in the second period, and it came on a power play. He also added an empty-netter in the third, which was officially a shorthanded goal. The center has eight power-play points and a pair of shorthanded goals through 39 contests this season. He's at 23 points, 73 shots on net, 106 hits, 31 blocked shots and a minus-5 rating while playing big minutes compared to what would be expected of a third-liner. Tuesday was his third multi-point effort in the last eight games.... See More ... See Less
Islanders' Jean-Gabriel Pageau: Nets Thursday's first tally
Pageau notched a goal and was credited with an assist during a 2-1 victory over the visiting Blue Jackets on Thursday.
Breaking a scoreless tie by jamming in a second-period rebound, Pageau notched his first goal in 10 games and eighth of the season. The 30-year-old center also earned a secondary helper on Mathew Barzal's game-winning, power-play marker. Pageau, who added two shots and two hits Thursday, earned his fifth two-point game this season.... See More ... See Less
Islanders' Jean-Gabriel Pageau: Reaches milestone
Pageau played in his 600th NHL game on Thursday versus the Rangers.
The game Thursday was also the 165th for Pageau in an Islanders uniform. Pageau is having an underwhelming season with only seven goals, 11 assists, and a rating of minus-5 in 33 games. Pageau parlayed what is looking like a career season in 2019-20, when he had 26 goals, into a six-year $30 million contract with the Islanders. A contract that right at this moment, two-plus years in, the Islanders might be regretting.... See More ... See Less
Islanders' Jean-Gabriel Pageau: Posts pair of helpers
Pageau collected two assists and went plus-2 in Saturday's 5-2 win over the Golden Knights.
Pageau ended a three-game skid with helpers on goals by linemates Simon Holmstrom and Zach Parise in this contest. With four points in eight games in December, Pageau has returned to scoring more in line with his third-line role after a hot November. He's at seven tallies, 11 assists, 55 shots on net, 86 hits, 24 blocked shots and a minus-5 rating through 32 outings while seeing time in all situations.... See More ... See Less
Islanders' Jean-Gabriel Pageau: Leader on the power play
Pageau leads the team in power-play goals, with four entering the game Tuesday versus the Blues.
This is unexpected as Pageau only has six goals on the season in 26 games. Pageau has only posted one season with more than 20 goals, which happened during the 2019-20 campaign. The four power-play goals this season already match his total from last year and are just one off his career high.... See More ... See Less
Islanders' Jean-Gabriel Pageau: Caps late charge
Pageau scored a third-period goal during Tuesday's 7-4 loss to the visiting Blues.
Pageau scored at 15:04 of the third period Tuesday, pulling the Islanders to within 5-4. The 30-year-old's seventh goal this season was his first in five games. Pageau, who recorded two shots, converted 21 seconds after Hudson Fasching's goal, but that was as close as Islanders would come. The third-line center recorded a minus-2 rating for the second time in three outings.... See More ... See Less
Islanders' Jean-Gabriel Pageau: Notches second-period marker
Pageau scored a goal during Friday's 3-2 win over the host Blue Jackets.
After recovering Mathew Barzal's errant shot off the end boards Friday, Pageau stuffed the puck past goalie Joonas Korpisalo, who was slow to cover the left post. The 30-year-old center's tally on his lone shot Friday gave the Islanders a 2-0, second-period advantage. Pageau, who is shaking off a slow start, has collected five goals in six games after connecting just once in his first 16 outings this season.... See More ... See Less
Islanders' Jean-Gabriel Pageau: Scores twice in win
Pageau scored a pair of goals in Wednesday's 3-0 win over the Oilers.
Pageau opened the scoring with a shorthanded goal early in the second period. He'd record a power-play tally just two minutes later after an attempted pass deflected off an Edmonton defenseman and into the net. Pageau now has five goals and eight assists through 21 games this season.... See More ... See Less
Islanders' Jean-Gabriel Pageau: Caps Thursday's scoring
Pageau scored a goal and drew an assist during Thursday's 5-4 loss to the host Predators.
Pageau, who connected on just one tally during his opening 16 outings this season, has collected markers during back-to-back outings. On Thursday, Pageau slam-dunked a no-look pass from Anders Lee with 4:21 remaining, creating the final margin. The 30-year-old center delivered a game-high six hits and added two shots. Despite the loss, the Islanders have won four of their past six games.... See More ... See Less
Islanders' Jean-Gabriel Pageau: Scores vs. Ottawa
Pageau scored a goal in the Islanders' 4-2 win against Ottawa on Monday.
Pageau has two goals and nine points in 17 games this season. He logged 20:01 of ice time Monday and is averaging around 18:00 this season, but he's not a major offensive contributor and you shouldn't count on his scoring pace getting any better as the campaign progresses. He does record plenty of hits, though, with 48 already in 2022-23.... See More ... See Less
Islanders' Jean-Gabriel Pageau: Helps out on game-winner
Pageau notched a power-play assist in Monday's 4-3 overtime win over the Flames.
Pageau didn't have much offense to show for a good game, but he went 20-for-25 at the faceoff circle. The defensive center also helped out on Noah Dobson's game-winning tally in overtime. Pageau hasn't had a point streak longer than two games in 2022-23 so far, contributing a goal, six helpers, 19 shots on net, 40 hits, 10 blocked shots and a plus-2 rating through 13 appearances. His assist Monday was his first power-play point of the campaign.... See More ... See Less
Islanders' Jean-Gabriel Pageau: Physical in win
Pageau racked up six hits in 20:49 of ice time in Tuesday's 3-1 win over Chicago.
Pageau has yet to score a goal through 10 games this season, but he's picked up five helpers and 36 hits over that span, making him particularly useful in fantasy formats that reward physicality. The 29-year-old pivot should continue to see middle-six minutes and skate with the second power-play unit, so look for him to break his goalless streak sooner rather than later.... See More ... Islanders' Jean-Gabriel Pageau: Two helpers in physical game
Pageau dished out two assists in Wednesday's 3-0 win over the Rangers. He didn't record a shot on goal but supplemented his stat line with two blocked shots, two PIM, seven hits and a plus-2 rating.
Pageau threw his body around in this physical rivalry game but also contributed offensively by assisting on both of Kyle Palmieri's goals. The aging third line of Pageau, Palmieri and Zach Parise came in with one combined goal through six games, so those rostering Pageau in fantasy are likely doing so for his physicality rather than his offense.... Islanders' Jean-Gabriel Pageau: Yet to light lamp
Pageau has yet to score a goal and only has two assists in six games this season.
Arguably the strongest position group for the Islanders is center. They have Mathew Barzal, Brock Nelson, Casey Cizikas, and Pageau as their centers, yet none of this quartet has wrinkled the twine this season. New head coach Lane Lambert has already changed his lines multiple times and benched multiple players to try to shake the team out of their early-season scoring troubles.... See More ... See Less
Islanders' Jean-Gabriel Pageau: Leads team in shots
Pageau led the Islanders with three shots on goal as they defeated the Rangers 3-1 on Saturday.
The Islanders acquired Pageau from the Senators before the trade deadline during the 2019-20 season. The Isles almost immediately signed him to a six-year, $30 million contract. It was a curious signing at the time for a player who was essentially a third-line center for the team. In his two full seasons for the team, Pageau only has 32 goals, and 35 assists, along with a rating of plus-10 in 131 games. Pageau may play with rotating linemates again this season, but as of now, it looks like he will open the season flanked by Oliver Wahlstrom and Josh Bailey.... See More ... See Less
Islanders' Jean-Gabriel Pageau: Finishes season hot
Pageau had three goals in his last four games and ended the season with 18 goals and 39 points in 77 contests.
Like many of the forwards for the Islanders, Pageau got off to a slow start, which hurt his overall line.... See More ... See Less
