  • Broncos' Tony Jones: Signs with Denver

The Broncos signed Jones to a one-year deal Thursday, Mike Klis of 9News Denver reports. With the Broncos, Jones -- who spent time with the Saints and Seahawks last season -- is reunited with coach Sean Payton, who worked with the running back while both were with New Orleans. While Jones was limited to just 10 carries in six games last season, he could potentially carve out a third-string role in Denver behind Javonte Williams (knee) and Samaje Perine.

  • Tony Jones: Not tendered by Seattle

Jones wasn't tendered an offer from the Seahawks as a restricted free agent, according to Bob Condotta of The Seattle Times. Jones landed in Seattle late last year after he was cut by the Saints. He rushed eight times for 16 yards in a Seahawks uniform and will head to the open market, where he'll look to latch on as a camp body in an effort to make a team this summer.

  • Seahawks' Tony Jones: Inactive for wild-card game

Jones is listed as inactive for Saturday's wild-card matchup with the 49ers due to a coach's decision. Jones is the odd-man-out at running back, as Seattle will be suting up Kenneth Walker, DeeJay Dallas and Godwin Igwebuike.

  • Tony Jones: Back with Seattle's practice squad

Jones signed with the Seahawks' practice squad Monday. The Seahawks continue to expertly maneuver Jones' roster status as the third-year back has bounced between the active roster and practice squad for most of the year. Given Kenneth Walker's numerous injuries over the past couple of weeks, it wouldn't be surprising to see Jones crack the active roster before the end of the season.

  • Seahawks' Tony Jones: Let go by Seattle

The Seahawks waived Jones on Wednesday, Field Yates of ESPN reports. The Seahawks claimed Jones off waivers from the Saints back in October, but he's since been let go after failing to carve out a consistent backfield role despite numerous injuries to the position group. He'll now wait for further opportunities to compete for snaps elsewhere.

  • Seahawks' Tony Jones: Timeshare on tap Sunday?

GM John Schneider said on Seattle Sports pregame show that he expects Jones, Travis Homer and Godwin Igwebuike all to get work in the Seahawks backfield Sunday versus the Panthers with Kenneth Walker (ankle) and DeeJay Dallas (ankle) inactive. Jones has a chance to produce Week 14 with two of Seattle's top three running backs sidelined. Still, his overall stat line this season (seven carries for 14 yards, two catches for 18 yards) pales in comparison to Homer's (9-43-0 and 10-124-1, respectively). Adam Schefter of ESPN reported earlier Sunday that Jones could get the start over Homer, but considering Schneider's comment a timeshare may be in store for this backfield, which doesn't bode well for any of Jones, Homer or Igwebuike to put up a notable fantasy day.

  • Seahawks' Tony Jones: RBs to Sit

Jones could be looking at the featured role for the Seahawks with Kenneth Walker III (ankle), DeeJay Dallas (ankle) and Travis Homer (knee) all dealing with injuries. If all of them are out, Jones could share touches with Wayne Gallman and potentially Darwin Thompson or Godwin Igwebuike, and Jones should get the majority of work out of that group. He helped out in Week 13 against the Rams when Walker and Dallas were injured, and Jones had seven carries for 14 yards, along with two catches for 18 yards on four targets. But this is a tough matchup against the Panthers, who have allowed one running back to score a rushing touchdown since Week 6. If Jones starts for Seattle in Week 14 then I would consider him a flex, but he's only worth trusting in deeper leagues.

  • Seahawks' Tony Jones: Expanded role likely awaits

Jones and Travis Homer are both expected to take more prominent roles out of the Seattle backfield Sunday against Carolina with Kenneth Walker (ankle) and DeeJay Dallas (ankle) both listed as questionable but not expected to play, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports. While Homer was inactive for last week's 27-23 win over the Rams, Jones suited up for Seattle for just the third time all season as the team's third running back behind Walker and Dallas. With both Walker and Dallas suffering injuries during the contest, Jones saw his first snaps on offense for Seattle, finishing with seven carries for 14 yards and two catches for 18 yards on four targets across 23 plays. Homer returned to full practice activity Thursday and is good to go for Sunday's contest, but because Seattle has rarely used him as much more than a change-of-pace option during his time with the team, it's possible that he shares snaps out of the backfield with Jones. Though both Homer and Jones look like better fantasy options than usual because of the absences of Walker and Dallas, the uncertainty of how head coach Pete Carroll may divide up the backfield work makes it tough to bank on either player to produce a useful line. Seattle also added a third running back, Godwin Igwebuike, from the practice squad Saturday to further gum up the works.

  • Seahawks' Tony Jones: Week 14 Adds (RB Preview)

As of now, we're prioritizing Tony Jones over DeeJay Dallas, but the injury situation in Seattle is very uncertain. Neither Kenneth Walker nor Dallas has been ruled out. If Dallas starts, I'd rank him as a high-end flex, if it's Jones, he's a low-end flex. And beware if Travis Homer is cleared, he would likely dominate passing downs.

  • Seahawks' Tony Jones: Week 14 Waiver Priority List

The Seahawks backfield is a mess right now with Kenneth Walker III (ankle), DeeJay Dallas (ankle) and Travis Homer (knee) all banged up. That could leave Jones in the lead role, and he's someone to add in all leagues with up to 5 percent of your remaining FAB. Now, Walker could play in Week 14 against Carolina, and he would be the lead back. And if Dallas (2 percent) plays, I like him better than Jones also. But if Jones is the starter against the Panthers then he should be considered a flex option in all formats, especially with six teams on a bye.

  • Seahawks' Tony Jones: Logs seven carries in relief

Jones rushed seven times for 14 yards and caught two of four targets for 18 yards in Sunday's 27-23 win over the Rams. Jones entered the game as the No. 3 running back because Travis Homer (knee/illness) was inactive, but he was the last man standing in the backfield after Kenneth Walker (ankle) and DeeJay Dallas (ankle) both exited with injuries. Head coach Pete Carroll said that both Walker and Dallas underwent MRIs and haven't been ruled out for Week 14 versus the Panthers, and he won't know Homer's status until later in the week. At 5-foot-11, 224 pounds, Jones has the frame to carry a hefty workload, but he hasn't been efficient at the NFL level with 66 rushes for 177 yards (3.9 YPC). The Seahawks would likely sign a free agent or activate Godwin Igwebuike and/or Darwin Thompson from the practice squad as depth options in the event Walker, Dallas and Homer can't go.

  • Seahawks' Tony Jones: Healthy scratch Sunday

Jones (coach's decision) was ruled inactive ahead of Sunday's game against the Giants. Jones signed with Seattle after being waived by the Saints on Oct. 8, though he has yet to see any action on offense with the Seahawks. The 24-year-old played 11 special-teams snaps over the past two weeks, and his next opportunity to play will come against the Cardinals on Sunday, Nov. 6.

  • Seahawks' Tony Jones: No offensive snaps

Jones didn't play an offensive snap in Sunday's 37-23 win over the Chargers. Jones has suited up in two games for the Seahawks this season, but he has played exclusively on special teams while Kenneth Walker and DeeJay Dallas handled the offensive duties. Once Travis Homer (ribs) returns, Jones' chances of seeing the field will be essentially eliminated.

  • Seahawks' Tony Jones: Finds new home

Jones was claimed off waivers from the Saints on Monday, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports. Jones hit the waiver wire Saturday, and with Rashaad Penny suffering a season-ending ankle injury against the Saints in Week 5, the former will now provide depth at running back for the Seahawks. Jones appeared in two games for the Saints this season, recording two carries for eight yards, while also hauling in each of his two targets for 12 yards.

  • Tony Jones: Waived by New Orleans

The Saints waived Jones on Saturday, Field Yates of ESPN reports. Jones appeared in the first two games of the season, and after playing just one offensive snap in the opener, he garnered four touches for 20 yards across 32 offensive snaps in Week 2. However, he's been inactive for back-to-back weeks and has been let go to make room for depth at other positions.

  • Saints' Tony Jones: Gets 10 touches in preseason finale

Jones rushed eight times for 23 yards and caught both targets for 12 yards in Friday's 27-10 preseason win over the Chargers. Alvin Kamara and Mark Ingram were the only running backs to feature on the Saints' first drive, but Jones got some touches with Ingram still in the game after that, providing a possible showcase of New Orleans' backfield distribution in the event Kamara misses time in the regular season due to suspension or injury. Jones appeared to hurt his leg late in the first half, per Katheirne Terrell of ESPN, but he continued to play in the second half. Jones should be available for the Sept. 11 regular season opener in Atlanta, assuming he makes the team.

  • Saints' Tony Jones: Surprise scratch Thursday

Jones (coach's decision) is inactive for Thursday's game against the Cowboys. Even with Alvin Kamara (knee) sidelined for a fourth straight contest, the Saints will keep Jones in street clothes in this one. Instead, Mark Ingram is slated to handle the bulk of the reps out of the backfield, with wide receiver Ty Montgomery, fullback Adam Prentice and special teamer Dwayne Washington on hand for complementary work.

  • Saints' Tony Jones: Minimal role in return to lineup

Jones rushed three times for two yards during Sunday's 40-29 loss to the Eagles. In his first game back from an ankle injury, Jones barely saw any work despite the absence of Alvin Kamara (knee). Instead, Mark Ingram (24 combined carries and targets) almost exclusively carried the load. Even if Kamara remains sidelined in Week 12 against Buffalo, Jones does not seem like an advisable fantasy option in any format.

  • Saints' Tony Jones: Opening looms in return from IR

Jones (ankle) was activated off injured reserve Saturday, per the NFL media's transactions page. Jones is back on the roster just in time for an intriguing opportunity Sunday in Philadelphia, as workhorse Alvin Kamara (knee) has been ruled out. While Mark Ingram is expected to get the starting nod in Kamara's absence, Jones is slated to work as his top backup ahead of special teams contributor Dwayne Washington. Jones averaged a respectable 4.1 yards per carry on 19 attempts in four games prior to injuring his ankle.

  • Saints' Tony Jones: Heads to injured reserve

The Saints placed Jones (ankle) on injured reserve Wednesday, Field Yates of ESPN reports. Jones is expected to miss 3-to-4 weeks anyway after injuring his ankle this past Sunday versus the Giants. With this transaction, he'll officially be out for at least the next three games, as he won't be eligible to return from IR until prior to the Saints' Nov. 7 contest against the Falcons. While Jones is sidelined, New Orleans may rely on Alvin Kamara even more out of the backfield, with the remaining touches going to depth backs Dwayne Washington and newcomer Devine Ozigbo.
