  • Dolphins' Braxton Berrios: Signing with Dolphins

The Dolphins are slated to sign Berrios to a one-year deal, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports. The 27-year-old will provide the Dolphins with added wide receiver depth behind top options Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle, as well as give the team a capable option in the return game. In 17 games for the Jets in 2022, Berrios logged a modest 18-145-0 receiving line while adding two rushing touchdowns, but if he's able to secure steady snaps out of the slot with Miami, the 5-foot-9, 190-pounder could see an uptick in production this coming season.

  • Braxton Berrios: Cap casualty for Jets

New York informed Berrios on Thursday that he will be released, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports. Berrios will be officially released at the start of the new league year, after he and the Jets were unable to come to terms on a contract restructure. The depth wideout saw his production dip to an 18-145-0 receiving line with an added two rushing touchdowns in 2022, but he's shown enough in his career to find another reserve spot on the open market. The 27-year-old is also able to contribute in the return game.

  • Jets' Braxton Berrios: Two rushing TDs in 2022

Berrios wasn't targeted in Sunday's season finale against the Dolphins. Berrios took a major step back as a receiver in 2022 after totaling 825 yards and five touchdowns over the previous two seasons. He finished the campaign with just 18 catches for 145 yards on 32 targets, though he was able to find the end zone twice as a rusher while gathering 91 total yards on the ground. He also threw a two-yard touchdown pass and contributed 840 yards as a return man. The 27-year-old receiver has one more year left on his contract with the Jets and should reprise his role as a return man and part-time player on offense in 2023.

  • Jets' Braxton Berrios: One catch in Week 17

Berrios caught his only target for 24 yards in Sunday's 23-6 loss to the Seahawks. Berrios added a pair of kickoff returns for 51 yards and two punt returns for eight yards. He has caught multiple passes in only three games this season after notching at least five receptions five times in 2021.

  • Jets' Braxton Berrios: Not targeted Week 16

Berrios wasn't targeted in Thursday's 19-3 loss to the Jaguars. Berrios is usually used on gadget plays, and the Jets didn't have the luxury of getting fancy when Zach Wilson couldn't even hit the simple stuff. As a result, Berrios' Week 16 contributions were limited to three kick returns for 80 yards.

  • Jets' Braxton Berrios: Catches one of six targets

Berrios caught one of six targets for 14 yards in Sunday's 20-17 loss to the Lions. Zach Wilson tried to find Berrios deep downfield on a few occasions, but the quarterback and receiver couldn't get on the same page. Berrios' six targets tied his Week 1 season high, and he has yet to match his five catches or 37 receiving yards from the season opener.

  • Jets' Braxton Berrios: One catch in Week 14

Berrios caught one of three targets for 25 yards in Sunday's 20-12 loss to the Bills. After failing to come down with what would have been the winning touchdown in the previous game, Berrios made a nice catch over his shoulder in this one, albeit in a far less important situation. He also returned two kickoffs for 23 yards and four punts for 88 yards in addition to diving out of the way of a punt that missed hitting him by a hair.

  • Jets' Braxton Berrios: Drops game-winning TD

Berrios caught two of three targets for nine yards in Sunday's 27-22 loss to the Vikings. Berrios will be remembered for the ball he didn't catch in this one. On fourth down from Minnesota's one-yard line with less than two minutes to play, Mike White fit the ball into a tight window to a sliding Berrios in the end zone, but the wide receiver failed to secure the catch, allowing the would-be winning touchdown to hit the ground. Berrios is a nice gadget player, but the costly drop showed why the Jets are loath to deploy him as a consistent part of the offense.

  • Jets' Braxton Berrios: Three touches on offense in win

Berrios caught his only target for four yards and rushed twice for nine yards in Sunday's 31-10 win over the Bears. Berrios played a limited role on offense as usual. He added 38 yards on a pair of punt returns and did well to handle the ball cleanly in wet conditions. Up next for the Berrios and the Jets is a Week 13 trip to Minnesota.

  • Jets' Braxton Berrios: Targeted once in Week 11

Berrios didn't catch his only target in Sunday's 10-3 loss to New England. Berrios added a 21-yard kick return and nine yards on two punt returns. He narrowly avoided disaster when he muffed a punt with less than two minutes remaining and the game tied at three, but Berrios' fumble rolled out of bounds. It turned out to be only a matter of time until disaster struck on special teams for the Jets, as New England scored the game-winning touchdown on a punt return in the final minute. Berrios has played more on special teams than offense of late, though it's worth noting that the Jets' Week 12 opponent will be a Bears team that just allowed a kickoff return touchdown to Atlanta's Cordarrelle Patterson.

  • Jets' Braxton Berrios: One catch in win

Berrios caught one of two targets for six yards in Sunday's 20-17 win over the Bills. Berrios put together an impressive touchdown streak earlier in the season, but sustaining that momentum was always going to be a challenge given his limited opportunities on offense. He remains an integral player on special teams, where Berrios totaled 40 yards on two kickoff returns in the Week 9 win.

  • Jets' Braxton Berrios: Quiet in Week 8 loss

Berrios didn't catch his only target in Sunday's 22-17 loss to the Patriots. Berrios was a nonfactor on offense, as the Jets didn't try any jet sweeps or trick plays. He added 36 yards on two kick returns.

  • Jets' Braxton Berrios: Five touches in Week 7 win

Berrios caught three of four targets for 15 yards and rushed twice for 27 yards in Sunday's 16-9 win over Denver. Berrios' touchdown streak came to an end, but he still contributed in a game that didn't feature much offense from either side. He was decent down the stretch last season as New York's starting slot receiver after injuries piled up, and Berrios could be in line for similar usage Week 8 against the Patriots with uncertainty around the status of both Corey Davis (knee) and Elijah Moore (personal).

  • Jets' Braxton Berrios: Cleared of injury designation

Berrios (back) logged a full practice Friday and doesn't have an injury designation for Sunday's matchup with the Broncos, Rich Cimini of ESPN.com reports. Berrios began the week with two limited sessions after picking up a back injury, but the issue doesn't appear to be serious because he was able to practice in full Friday. The kick returner and wide receiver thus will be able to participate in Sunday's contest, and he'll look to extend a two-game touchdown-scoring streak. Despite the recent success finding the end zone, Berrios has only two touches (one catch and one carry) in each of his past two contests, so he's a very risky fantasy play.

  • Jets' Braxton Berrios: Picks up injury

Berrios was a limited participant in the Jets' practice Wednesday due to a back injury, Rich Cimini of ESPN.com reports. Berrios is tending to the injury following Sunday's win over the Packers. While the All-Pro kick returner has played more than 30 percent of the Jets' offensive snaps just once this season, he's coming off back-to-back games with rushing touchdowns. Berrios will have two more practices to increase his activity before Sunday's contest against Denver.

  • Jets' Braxton Berrios: Extends TD streak in Week 6

Berrios scored a 20-yard touchdown on his only rushing attempt and caught his only target for six yards in Sunday's 27-10 win over Green Bay. Berrios took an end-around to the house for his second rushing touchdown in as many weeks. While he's used sparingly, Berrios has excelled in his role as a gadget guy in the creative Jets offense. His two-game rushing touchdown streak was preceded by a passing touchdown to quarterback Zach Wilson. Berrios added three punt returns for 34 yards and a 29-yard kickoff return.

  • Jets' Braxton Berrios: Notches rushing TD in Week 5 win

Berrios scored a 15-yard touchdown and caught his only target for minus-1 yard in Sunday's 40-17 win over the Dolphins. After throwing a touchdown in the Week 4 win over the Steelers, Berrios found the end zone again, this time with his legs. Berrios continues to play sparingly on offense, but the All-Pro return man has proven he can provide an occasional spark outside of his role on special teams. He added 61 yards on two kick returns.

  • Jets' Braxton Berrios: Throws TD in win

Berrios caught his only target for six yards and threw a two-yard touchdown pass in Sunday's 24-20 win over the Steelers. Berrios got the ball on a reverse, but rather than run it, he threw a two-yard touchdown pass to wide open quarterback Zach Wilson as the Jets perfectly executed a trick play to take a 10-0 lead. While Berrios provided a highlight in the Week 4 win, his usage remains modest as New York's No. 4 wide receiver.

  • Jets' Braxton Berrios: No targets in Week 2

Berrios (heel) wasn't targeted but rushed twice for 22 yards in Sunday's 31-30 win over the Browns. Berrios didn't play much of a role on offense while Garrett Wilson, Corey Davis and Elijah Moore combined for 23 targets. The All-Pro return man had three kickoff returns for 75 yards and a 16-yard punt return, so Berrios' reduced role didn't seem linked to the heel injury he battled in practice throughout the week. Berrios is the Jets' No. 4 wide receiver heading into a Week 3 visit from the Bengals.

  • Jets' Braxton Berrios: Active against Cleveland

Berrios (heel) is active for Sunday's game against Cleveland. Berrios remained on the injury report despite consecutive full practices this week, but his "questionable" status won't prevent him from suiting up against the Browns. The return specialist -- who also caught five passes in the opener -- shouldn't have any limitations for the Week 2 matchup.
