  • Bills' Matt Milano: No timeline yet

Milano (leg) doesn't have a rehab timeline, though Bills GM Brandon Beane said Tuesday that the linebacker is "probably closer to being through rehab" than cornerback Tre'Davious White (Achilles), Katherine Fitzgerald of The Buffalo News reports. The Bills lost two of their best defenders to season-ending injuries in early October, with Milano fracturing his leg one week after White tore an Achilles' tendon. The latter is more likely to be a concern for 2024, though it's certainly possible Milano's rehab process impacts his spring/summer as he prepares for his age-30 season. The linebacker is under contract through 2026, including a fully guaranteed $4.125 million base salary (and $12.437 million cap hit) for 2024.

  • Bills' Matt Milano: Not expected to return this season

Coach Sean McDermott said Friday he doesn't believe Milano (leg) has a chance to return from IR this season, Joe Buscaglia of The Athletic reports. Milano suffered a fractured right leg in early October, one of numerous brutal injuries for Buffalo's defense this season. At the time of Milano's injury, McDermott insinuated that the All-Pro linebacker could have a chance to return down the stretch, but it sounds like that's no longer in play. As such, Milano's attention will be turned to making a full recovery for the 2024 campaign.

  • Bills' Matt Milano: Leaves with knee injury

Milano suffered a knee injury in the first quarter of Sunday's game against the Jaguars in London and won't return. He recorded three tackles prior to departing. Milano was carted to the locker room and had an air cast on his leg. The seventh-year linebacker fills a key role on the Buffalo defense and had compiled 30 tackles, two interceptions and a forced fumble through five games this season. Dorian Williams came off the bench to replace Milano in the lineup.

  • Bills' Matt Milano: Picks off another pass

Milano recorded four tackles and an interception in Sunday's 38-10 win versus Las Vegas. With the game already in hand and the Raiders in desperation mode, Milano jumped in front of a Jimmy Garoppolo pass intended for Josh Jacobs late in the third quarter to notch his second interception of the year. He's also still on pace for more than 100 tackles over a full season and is therefore a fine option at IDP heading into a Week 3 matchup at Washington.

  • Bills' Matt Milano: Good to go Week 15

Milano (knee) does not carry an injury designation ahead of Saturday's game versus Miami. Milano has been considered day-to-day with a knee injury that kept him sidelined during practice Tuesday and Wednesday. While he only managed to log a limited session Thursday, the linebacker is nonetheless still scheduled to play Saturday. Milano followed a similar practice structure last week before playing every defensive snap in Sunday's win over the Jets, so his usage doesn't figure to be limited while facing Miami's high-flying offense either. The 28-year-old has accumulated 77 tackles, one sack, two fumble recoveries and eight passes defended, including two interceptions, over 12 games this season.

  • Bills' Matt Milano: Unavailable for practice

Milano (knee) will not practice Wednesday, Michael Giardi of NFL Network reports. Milano continues to deal with the knee injury that hobbled him last week in practice, but considering he played in Week 14, he seems likely to be able to go Saturday versus the Dolphins. In the off chance he can't play, Tyrel Dodson would step into a larger role.

  • Bills' Matt Milano: Logs nine tackles, recovers fumble

Milano recorded nine tackles (seven solo), two passes defensed and one fumble recovery in Sunday's 20-12 win over the Jets. Milano, who entered the Week 14 matchup versus the Jets with a questionable tag due to a knee issue, didn't show any signs of injury with his game-high nine stops. The 28-year old also recovered a fumble late in the fourth quarter to keep it a two-score game, and he'll now enter this weekend's contest against Miami with another anticipated every-down role.

  • Bills' Matt Milano: Playing Sunday

Milano (knee) is active Sunday against the Jets. Milano closed out the week with a limited practice Friday, paving the way for him to take the field Sunday. His ability to suit up is certainly good news for the Bills' defense when they host the Jets on Sunday.

  • Bills' Matt Milano: Back at practice Thursday

Milano (illness) was listed as a full participant on the Bills' injury report Thursday. Milano returned to practice Thursday after he and several other Bills players were sidelined with an illness during the team's first practice for Week 11. Outside of his lone absence against the Jets in Week 9, the 28-year-old linebacker has played a prominent role for the Bills' defense this season, recording 43 tackles, five passes defended, two interceptions and a defensive touchdown. With team-leading tackler Tremaine Edmunds (groin) sidelined during practice Thursday, Milano could be used as Buffalo's primary run stopper against the Browns' rush-heavy offense Sunday.

  • Bills' Matt Milano: Sheds injury designation

Milano (oblique) was a full participant during practice Thursday. Milano missed the Bills' loss to the Jets on Sunday and was a limited participant in practice Wednesday. His return to full participation Thursday is certainly good news for the Bills' defense while also signaling the veteran linebacker should take the field Sunday against the Vikings.

  • Bills' Matt Milano: Inactive, as expected

Milano (oblique) is inactive Week 9 against the Jets. Despite entering the week with a questionable tag following a limited showing in Friday's practice, Milano wasn't expected to suit up for this contest. Terrel Bernard -- who had primarily been a special-teamer until recently -- is in line to get the start in Milano's stead.

  • Bills' Matt Milano: Not expected to play

Milano (oblique), who is listed as questionable, isn't expected to play in Sunday's game against the Jets, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports. Milano managed to resume practicing in a limited capacity Friday, but he still doesn't appear to have made enough progress in his recovery from the oblique injury he suffered last Sunday against the Packers to play this weekend. If Milano is indeed placed on Buffalo's inactive list ahead of Sunday's 1 p.m. ET kickoff, rookie third-round pick Terrel Bernard will likely enter the starting lineup in his place.

  • Bills' Matt Milano: Doesn't practice Wednesday

Milano (oblique) was a non-participant during Wednesday's practice. Milano suffered an oblique injury during the Bills' primetime win over the Packers in Week 8 and will remain sidelined to start Week 9 prep. The starting linebacker will have two more opportunities to practice before the team needs to make a decision on his status for Sunday's matchup against the Jets.

  • Bills' Matt Milano: Full participant Wednesday

Milano (neck) was a full participant during Wednesday's walk-through practice, Chris Brown of the Bills' official site reports. Milano was ruled out for the remainder of Monday's blowout win over the Titans after suffering what was initially reported as a stinger. He's now being listed with a neck injury, but it doesn't appear to be a major issue and he should be good to go for Sunday's matchup against the Dolphins. Through two games, the veteran linebacker has 10 tackles and an interception, which he returned for a touchdown.

  • Bills' Matt Milano: Won't return Monday

Milano (stinger) was ruled out for the remainder of Monday's game against the Titans. Milano appears to have sustained a stinger injury at some point Monday night, though the exact nature and severity of this injury are unclear. However, with Buffalo up big late in the fourth quarter, it's possible that the linebacker's absence could be more of a precautionary move heading into the team's next game against the Dolphins on Sunday.

  • Bills' Matt Milano: Avoids injury designation

Milano (shoulder) doesn't have an injury designation for Sunday's matchup with the Colts. Milano was limited at practice all week due to a shoulder injury, but the issue won't affect his availability for Sunday's contest. The 27-year-old should fill his usual every-down role for the Bills this weekend.

  • Bills' Matt Milano: Starts week with DNP

Milano missed Wednesday's practice due to a shoulder issue. Milano didn't appear injured during Sunday's lopsided win over the Jets, so perhaps this absence is more of the maintenance-related variety. With teammate Tremaine Edmunds out of action in Week 10 and starting Week 11 with a DNP, Milano's level of participation as the week goes on is worth watching for those using the Buffalo defense.

  • Bills' Matt Milano: Sheds injury designation

Milano (hamstring) doesn't have an injury designation heading into Monday's game against Tennessee, Chris Brown of the Bills' official site reports. Milano practiced fully Saturday after his reps were limited Thursday and Friday. As a result, he'll be back on the field following his one-game absence.

  • Bills' Matt Milano: Limited again

Milano (hamstring) was limited at practice for the second straight day Friday. Milano missed last week's big victory over the Chiefs after hurting himself in Week 4, so his presence for this week's trip to Tennessee is no sure thing. He does get the benefit of an extra day this week, as the Bills don't play until Monday. We'll get an official status for the key linebacker Saturday.

  • Bills' Matt Milano: Murky for Week 5

Millano did not practice Thursday for the second straight day due to a hamstring injury. The starting linebacker is probably going to have to log some form of activity Friday ahead of a big matchup against the Chiefs. The Bills have had a difficult enough time trying to slow down Patrick Mahomes & Co. in recent matchups, so coming up with a scheme to do so without one of their key defenders would add even more to the challenge.
