  • Devils' Frederik Gauthier: Reassigned to AHL

Gauthier was demoted to the minors Monday. Gauthier's reassignment could be temporary as it leaves the Devils without a full complement of forwards ahead of Tuesday's matchup with the Panthers, though Mason Geertsen could be an option to move into a fourth-line role if needed. In eight games this year, the 26-year-old Gauthier remains pointless while logging four shots, 16 hits and three blocks while averaging 11:06 of ice time.

Gauthier was waived by the Devils on Sunday, per CBS Sports. Gauthier spent most of last season with AHL Tucson, scoring seven points in 18 appearances. • Devils' Frederik Gauthier: Signs two-way deal with New Jersey

Gauthier signed a one-year, two-way contract with the Devils on Friday, Mike Morreale of NHL.com reports. Gauthier was attending New Jersey's training camp on a professional tryout offer, and he evidently performed well enough to earn a two-way deal. Nonetheless, the 26-year-old forward, who went scoreless in two appearances with Arizona last season, will likely spend most of the 2021-22 campaign in the minors.

Gauthier signed a professional tryout offer with the Devils on Friday. Gauthier appeared in just two games with the Coyotes last season, logging no points, one shot, one hit and one block over that span. If he's able to secure a contract with New Jersey during training camp, he'll likely have to settle for a two-way deal.

  • Frederik Gauthier: Doesn't receive qualifying offer

Gauthier wasn't qualified by Arizona, so he'll hit the market as an unrestricted free agent Wednesday, CapFriendly reports. Gauthier has appeared in 133 NHL contests over the past three campaigns, picking up 10 goals and 16 helpers over that span, so he shouldn't have too much trouble landing a two-way deal with a new team this offseason.

Gauthier was assigned to AHL Tucson on Wednesday. The Coyotes only have three games left this season, so Gauthier could end up staying in the minors for the rest of the campaign. He's gone scoreless through two top-level appearances this year.

  • Coyotes' Frederik Gauthier: Will attend Coyotes camp

Gauthier will attend Arizona's training camp on a professional tryout offer, Arizona Coyotes Insider Craig Morgan reports. Gauthier drew into 61 games with Toronto last season, picking up 12 points while averaging 9:23 of ice time per contest. He'll be a rotational, bottom-six option for the Coyotes if he's able to land a contract during training camp, so he won't warrant consideration in any fantasy formats.

  • Frederik Gauthier: Non-tendered by Toronto

Gauthier did not receive a qualifying offer from the Maple Leafs and will be a UFA on Friday, Elliotte Friedman of Sportsnet reports. Gauthier established himself as a physical presence in Toronto's bottom-six over the last two years, racking up 10 goals, 26 points and 164 hits in 131 contests over that span. The 25-year-old center will now test the waters in free agency, with a decent chance of latching on somewhere in a similar bottom-six capacity.

  • Maple Leafs' Frederik Gauthier: Pots sixth goal

Gauthier scored a goal and blocked two shots in Tuesday's 7-4 win over the Devils. Gauthier entered this season with six goals over 107 NHL games, and he's already up to six markers through 43 games this year. The 2013 first-round pick (21st overall) is stuck on the fourth line averaging 9:33 per contest, so his production isn't dependable for fantasy purposes.

  • Maple Leafs' Frederik Gauthier: Ice time dropping

Gauthier's ice time dropped in half in his last two games. The Goat has proven his skating is no longer a liability and has played in just about every game the Leafs have played. But we had expected his ice time to remain stable around the 10-minute mark given injuries to Trevor Moore, Andreas Johnsson and now Ilya Mikheyev. Gauthier skated just seven shifts in each of his last two games and that resulted in 4:39 and 5:31 of ice time against the Hurricanes and Devils, respectively. His four goals and four assists in 35 games just aren't enough to make him fantasy relevant, and despite his size, he doesn't hit enough to elevate him in specialty categories. He's safe to ignore.
