  • Bills' Taylor Rapp: Tending to calf injury

Rapp (calf) did not participate at Buffalo's walkthrough practice Wednesday. It's not immediately clear when Rapp picked up the calf issue, but his availability for the wild-card round is now in question. If he can't get back to practice Thursday or Friday, he'll likely have to sit out Sunday.

  • Bills' Taylor Rapp: Logs one tackle in Week 17

Rapp logged one tackle on seven defensive snaps in Sunday's Week 17 win over the Patriots. With Jordan Poyer and Micah Hyde healthy and playing every defensive snap, Rapp took a back seat after starting the previous two games. He's quality depth for the Buffalo defense and has 49 tackles (33 solo), one fumble recovery and 0.5 sacks on the year.

  • Bills' Taylor Rapp: Gets back on field

Rapp (neck) logged a full practice Wednesday. Rapp has come out of the Bills' bye week healthy after missing the team's Week 12 loss to the Eagles. Ultimately, it's a quick recovery, considering the 25-year-old left Buffalo's Week 11 win over the Jets in an ambulance. His return should be a boost to the depth of the Bills' secondary when they play the Chiefs on Sunday.

  • Bills' Taylor Rapp: Unavailable vs. Eagles

Coach Sean McDermott said Friday that Rapp (neck) is ruled out for Sunday's game against Philadelphia, Alaina Getzenberg of ESPN.com reports. Rapp's absence will be significant for Buffalo's already-shorthanded secondary, especially with Dane Jackson (concussion) also ruled out for Week 12. With Rapp out, Damar Hamlin could get a chance to handle depth work on defense for the second time this season. Rapp's next chance to play will come Week 14 vs. the Chiefs, after a much-needed bye.

  • Bills' Taylor Rapp: Set to start Week 10

Rapp is expected to take over the starting role at strong safety with Micah Hyde (neck) ruled out for Monday's game against the Broncos, Alaina Getzenberg of ESPN.com reports. Rapp has mostly contributed in a depth safety role and on special teams this season. With Hyde out, Rapp will fill in at strong safety opposite Jordan Poyer. Rapp got the start in Week 4 against the Dolphins when Poyer was ruled out with a knee injury, and the former played every single defensive snap and recorded six tackles (five solo).

  • Rams' Taylor Rapp: Logs 92 stops in 2022

Rapp recorded 92 tackles (58 solo), six pass defenses, two interceptions and recorded a fumble over 16 games in 2022. Rapp's final year of his rookie deal saw him put together a nearly identical season to two of his previous three, discounting his 2020 season where he only played in nine games. In his other three campaigns, he's combined for 286 tackles, 20 pass defenses and 10 interceptions. A return to the Rams for the unrestricted free agent would mean fighting for playing time against Jordan Fuller (hamstring), who started the season as a co-starter at strong safety until injuries kept him off the field for all but four games.

  • Rams' Taylor Rapp: Picks in back-to-back weeks

Rapp recorded seven tackles (six solo), an interception and one pass defended during Monday's 24-12 loss to the Packers. Rapp's first-quarter interception of Aaron Rodgers was the safety's second pick in as many weeks, as Rodgers sailed a pass over the head of Allen Lazard and Rapp capitalized with the easy pick. Denver's anemic offense is next up in Week 16, and even with Russell Wilson (concussion) likely returning at quarterback over Brett Rypien, Rapp should be in line for another strong performance.

  • Rams' Taylor Rapp: Snags first pick of season

Rapp recorded three tackles (one solo) and one interception during Thursday's 17-16 win against the Raiders. After Baker Mayfield's improbable 98-yard touchdown drive to put the Rams up by a point with just seconds remaining, Derek Carr attempted to start a game-winning drive of his own by dialing up Davante Adams on his first pass attempt. Rapp was ready, however, and stepped in front of Adams to bring down Carr's desperation heave and give the Rams their first win since defeating the Panthers all the way back in Week 6. Rapp will look to add to his interception total in Week 15 against the Packers and Aaron Rodgers, who already has thrown nine picks so far in 2022 after throwing just nine combined in 2020 and 2021.

  • Rams' Taylor Rapp: Back in full Thursday

Rapp (ribs) was listed as a full participant on the Rams' injury report Thursday, Jourdan Rodrigue of The Athletic reports. Rapp was limited with a rib injury during practice last week before being ruled out ahead of Sunday's loss to the Cowboys. The safety returned to practice in a limited fashion again Wednesday, but he now appears ready to suit up for Week 6 against the Panthers. Rapp recorded 16 tackles over the first four games of the season, and his availability this Sunday should be a big boost for the Rams' banged-up secondary.

  • Rams' Taylor Rapp: Logs three tackles

Rapp recorded three tackles (two solo) during Sunday's 31-27 win over Atlanta. Rapp may not have stuffed the stat sheet with his line on Sunday, but for the second straight week, he played significantly more defensive snaps than Jordan Fuller (50 to 36) and nearly the same amount as Nick Scott (53), showing how much the Rams trust the fourth-year safety. Despite the quiet first two weeks of the season for Rapp, the sheer volume of opportunities should yield dividends in the long term.

  • Rams' Taylor Rapp: Available for Super Bowl

Rapp (concussion) is active for Sunday's Super Bowl matchup with the Bengals, Jourdan Rodrigue of The Athletic reports. Rapp will be active for the first time since sustaining the concussion Week 18 against the 49ers. Eric Weddle has done a fantastic job filling in for him during the playoffs and is going to be the defensive play caller for the Rams on Sunday, so Rapp could garner a lesser role than he had during the regular season.

  • Rams' Taylor Rapp: Enters weekend as questionable

Rapp (concussion) is listed as questionable for Sunday's NFC Championship Game against the 49ers. Rapp has missed back-to-back games since sustaining a concussion Week 18 versus San Francisco, but he was able to get back on the practice field this week as a limited participant Wednesday through Friday. While his inability to log a full session at any point may mean he still has multiple phases to complete before gaining clearance from the protocol for head injuries, the final word will come from an independent neurologist. Rapp's status will be clarified, one way or another, approximately 90 minutes before Sunday's 6:30 p.m. ET kickoff.

  • Rams' Taylor Rapp: Still absent Thursday

Rapp (concussion) did not practice Thursday, Adam Caplan of SiriusXM NFL Radio reports. Rapp remained unavailable for Thursday's practice while still in concussion protocol. The safety's chances to play Sunday rely on his ability to clear the protocols. If he can't go, Terrell Burgess and Eric Weddle could once again split snaps in the Rams' secondary against the Buccaneers.

  • Rams' Taylor Rapp: Active for Week 17

Rapp (shoulder) is active for Sunday's contest against the Ravens, Jourdan Rodrigue of The Athletic reports. As expected, Rapp will be available after logging a full practice Friday. He's been a key part of the Rams' defense all season, logging 80 tackles and three interceptions across 15 games.

  • Rams' Taylor Rapp: Full-go at minicamp

Rapp (knee) was a full participant in June's mandatory minicamp, Stu Jackson of the Rams' official site reports. Rapp generated 100 tackles as a rookie in 2019, but he was demoted in Week 1 of the 2020 season after rookie sixth-round pick Jordan Fuller won the starting job out of training camp. Rapp eventually regained his starting job and finished with 44 tackles through nine games before a knee injury ended his season in Week 10. With John Johnson signing in Cleveland, Rapp is the favorite for the starting strong safety job in 2021.

  • Rams' Taylor Rapp: Destined for injured reserve

Coach Sean McVay said that Rapp (knee) has a Grade 2 ligament sprain and will go on IR, Jourdan Rodrigue of The Athletic reports. Rapp was forced to exit Sunday's win against the Seahawks, and it seems probable he will be on the shelf for at least a month. The Rams are hoping that the second-year safety can return to the field in short order, though Rodrigue reports his absence will likely extend four weeks or more. Four of Rapp's five starts on the season have come since Week 6, recording 44 tackles, one forced fumble and one interception during that span. In his absence, Jordan Fuller will be thrust into a prominent role at the strong safety position.

  • Rams' Taylor Rapp: MCL sprain likely

Rapp (knee) is believed to have suffered a sprained MCL in Sunday's win over Seattle, and he will get an MRI to confirm that diagnosis, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports. Recovery times for MCL sprains vary, but Rapp will likely be facing a multiweek absence if the MRI confirms the injury. The safety is a key cog on defense for Los Angles, as Rapp had played 100 percent of the team's defensive snaps in three consecutive games prior to Sunday's injury.

  • Rams' Taylor Rapp: Leads team in tackles

Rapp posted eight tackles (seven solo) in Sunday's 17-9 win over the Giants. Rapp played every defensive snap because Jordan Fuller (shoulder) remained out of the lineup, and he ended up leading the team in tackles for a second straight week. A knee injury has been deemed one of the major causes for Rapp's demotion to a reserve role in favor of Fuller, but perhaps the 2019 second-round pick's recent performance will allow him to retake the starting gig.

  • Rams' Taylor Rapp: Potential demotion

Rapp played behind rookie sixth-round pick Jordan Fuller against Dallas on Sunday, finishing with just three tackles to Fuller's team-leading eight. Jourdan Rodrigue of the Athletic reported that coach Sean McVay said Rapp, a presumed starter going into 2020, was not injured. McVay also said "Rapp continues to be a huge part of" the Rams defense, but it's hard to see how Rapp plays much if Fuller is logging starter-level snaps. Rapp posted 100 tackles on 834 snaps as a rookie second-round pick last year, so if he was demoted in favor of Fuller, then it's a rather shocking turn.

  • Rams' Taylor Rapp: Back at practice

Rapp (knee) returned to practice Tuesday, Lindsey Thiry of ESPN.com reports. Rapp missed roughly two weeks of practice while dealing with a knee issue, but his participation Tuesday is enough to dispel any worries about his Week 1 availability. The 22-year-old safety is locked in as a starter, and he should offer weekly IDP relevance.
