Player Outlook
St. Brown has barely produced numbers through his four NFL seasons. That's very unlikely to change in his fifth since he's competing for playing time with the Bears this preseason. Fantasy managers shouldn't bother adding him to rosters.

  • Bears' Equanimeous St. Brown: Healthy scratch in Week 3

St. Brown (coach's decision) is inactive for Sunday's Week 3 matchup against the Chiefs. St. Brown will continue to await his season debut, as Sunday qualifies as his third healthy scratch in as many games to open the season. The speedster's next opportunity to see his first action of 2023 comes in a Week 4 home matchup against the Broncos next Sunday.

  • Bears' Equanimeous St. Brown: Sits again Sunday

St. Brown (coach's decision) was ruled inactive for Week 2's matchup against Tampa Bay. It's the second consecutive week St. Brown will be on the outside looking in, even though there had been some questions about fellow wideout Chase Claypool's status for the contest following a poor Week 1 showing. The fact the Bears kept six other receivers active for the Week 2 matchup shows St. Brown likely has a lot of work to do to move up the depth chart.

  • Bears' Equanimeous St. Brown: Won't suit up Sunday

St. Brown (coach's decision) was ruled inactive for Sunday's season opener versus Green Bay. St. Brown caught a career-high 21 passes (on 38 targets) for 323 yards across 16 games with Chicago last season. However, his role should be diminished in the team's now crowded wide receiver corps this season, as DJ Moore, Darnell Mooney and Chase Claypool are expected to round out the Bears' starting trio. With Velus Jones (coach's decision) also inactive, veteran Trent Taylor and rookie Tyler Scott will slot in as the Bears' reserve wideouts Week 1.

  • Bears' Equanimeous St. Brown: Expected to make roster

St. Brown is likely competing with rookie Tyler Scott for the Bears' No. 4 wide receiver role, Kevin Fishbain of The Athletic reports. St. Brown gives the Bears a strong blocking option from the wide receiver spot, which is something the team needs. However, with Chicago having invested a fourth-round pick on Scott, his speed may make him a rotational deep threat. With both expected to make the regular-season roster, they likely will have different roles based on situation.

  • Bears' Equanimeous St. Brown: Solid chance to make team

St. Brown is valuable to the Bears due to his blocking and knowledge of the system, and could slot in as the team's No. 4 or 5 receiver, Kevin Fishbain of The Athletic reports. St. Brown recorded 323 yards and a touchdown in his first year with the Bears. Even though he wasn't a big statistical contributor, he was often used to block in the run game, where he was very effective. His main competition for a roster spot in a wideout corps that also includes DJ Moore, Darnell Mooney and Chase Claypool is expected to come from Dante Pettis and Velus Jones. Although St. Brown seems to have the early edge, this battle could go down to the last days of the preseason.

  • Bears' Equanimeous St. Brown: Back from injury

St. Brown (knee) participated in Chicago's mandatory minicamp last week, Larry Mayer of the team's official site reports. St. Brown injured his knee during the team's season finale against the Vikings, but he appears to be healthy once again. The 26-year-old should have an ample opportunity to compete for playing time heading into the start of the season while both Darnell Mooney (ankle) and Chase Claypool (undisclosed) remain sidelined due to injuries.

  • Bears' Equanimeous St. Brown: Slow finish to year

St. Brown caught one pass for three yards in the Bears' 29-13 loss to the Vikings in Week 18, and ended the season with 21 receptions, 323 yards and a touchdown over 16 games played. After failing to reach 120 yards in either of his last two seasons in Green Bay, St. Brown posted similar numbers with the Bears this year than he had during his rookie season in 2018. Going into the fifth year of his career, he's likely ticketed to be a depth option next year and beyond.

  • Bears' Equanimeous St. Brown: Picks up knee injury

St. Brown sustained a knee injury during Sunday's contest against the Vikings. The Bears made the ruling on St. Brown late in the third quarter, deeming him questionable to return. If he's unable to do so, he'll emerge from Week 18 having caught his only target for three yards.

  • Bears' Equanimeous St. Brown: Signs one-year extension

St. Brown and the Bears agreed Wednesday on a one-year contract extension, Kevin Fishbain of The Athletic reports. Selected by Green Bay in the sixth round of the 2018 draft, St. Brown caught 21 passes for 328 yards as a rookie and now has a similar receiving line (20-320-1) four years later in his first season on the Bears. He had only 215 receiving yards total over the three years in between, but the Bears seem to have been pleased with his blocking in their run-heavy offense, as St. Brown has started each of the 15 games he's played while handling a 60 percent snap share. That said, he might just be a backup and special teams player next season if the Bears find a real receiving threat to pair with Darnell Mooney (ankle). St. Brown is expected to get his 16th start of the season this Sunday against the Vikings, catching passes from Nathan Peterman instead of Justin Fields (hip), who has been ruled out for the season finale.

  • Bears' Equanimeous St. Brown: Targeted three times

St. Brown caught two passes for 20 yards in the Bears' 41-10 loss to the Lions on Sunday. St. Brown has posted at least 20 yards in four of his last five games, but he's only surpassed 25 yards just once since Week 8, and his lack of volume will make him a low-upside fantasy option in Week 18 against the Vikings.

  • Bears' Equanimeous St. Brown: Cleared for Sunday

St. Brown (concussion) doesn't have an injury designation for Sunday's game in Detroit. St. Brown apparently has cleared concussion protocol after missing one game, while fellow Bears wide receivers Chase Claypool (knee) and Dante Pettis (ankle) are listed as questionable. None has been a reliable source or targets or production, but St. Brown at least figures to play a lot of snaps this weekend.

  • Bears' Equanimeous St. Brown: Progressing through concussion protocol

St. Brown (concussion) was limited at Thursday's practice. Making his first appearance on the practice field since suffering a concussion Week 15 against the Eagles, St. Brown still has multiple phases to complete before the Bears can clear him from the protocol for head injuries. As for the rest of Chicago's injured wide receivers, Chase Claypool (knee) returned Thursday with a cap on his reps, while Dante Pettis (ankle) didn't log any activity, leaving question marks in the position group ahead of Sunday's game at Detroit.

  • Bears' Equanimeous St. Brown: Won't play Saturday

St. Brown (concussion) has been ruled out for Saturday's game against the Bills. Meanwhile, Chase Claypool (knee) is listed as doubtful for the contest, which sets the stage for Byron Pringle and Dante Pettis to lead the Bears' Week 16 wideout corps, with Velus Jones and N'Keal Harry candidates to mix in. St. Brown will now look to gain clearance to play Jan. 1 against the Lions.

  • Bears' Equanimeous St. Brown: DNP on Wednesday

St. Brown (concussion) was a non-participant at Wednesday's practice. St. Brown suffered a concussion early during Sunday's loss to the Eagles. With the Bears preparing for a Week 16 matchup with the Bills on Saturday, St. Brown is running out of time to make his way through the NFL's five-step concussion protocol. Ultimately, Chicago could be without its top two wide receivers this weekend, as Chase Claypool (knee) also didn't practice Wednesday.

  • Bears' Equanimeous St. Brown: Misses practice Tuesday

St. Brown (concussion) was listed as a non-participant in Tuesday's practice. Unsurprisingly, St. Brown wasn't able to get on the field in the Bears' first Week 16 session after he was placed in the concussion protocol following his removal from the Bears' 25-20 loss to the Eagles this past Sunday. The receiver may have difficultly clearing the five-step protocol in advance of Saturday's matchup with the Bills.

  • Bears' Equanimeous St. Brown: Not returning Sunday

St. Brown (concussion) has been ruled out of Sunday's game versus the Eagles. St. Brown was spun to the turf at the end of a 20-yard reception early in the first quarter and remained there for a spell before going to the sideline tent and eventually the locker room. With St. Brown's Week 15 over and Chase Claypool (knee) and N'Keal Harry (coach's decision) inactive, the Bears will be down to Dante Pettis, Byron Pringle, Velus Jones and Nsimba Webster at wide receiver.

  • Bears' Equanimeous St. Brown: Having concussion check

St. Brown is under evaluation for a concussion during Sunday's game against the Eagles. At the end of a 20-yard catch early in the first quarter, St. Brown was slammed to the turf by a Philly defender and stayed down. After eventually making a brief visit to the sideline tent, he went to the locker room to determine if he indeed has a concussion. If St. Brown is diagnosed with one, he'll join Chase Claypool (knee) and N'Keal Harry (coach's decision) as unavailable, leaving Dante Pettis, Byron Pringle, Velus Jones and Nsimba Webster as the Bears' remaining wide receivers.

  • Bears' Equanimeous St. Brown: Makes long grab

St. Brown caught three of four targets for 85 yards in Sunday's 28-19 loss to the Packers. He also rushed once for a yard. St. Brown went for a 56-yard grab, marking the longest gain of his four-year career, which was spent with Green Bay prior to this season. That play helped St. Brown lead the Bears in receiving yards, but his output wasn't enough to beat his former team. With a season-best performance, though, the wideout at least heads into Chicago's bye week on a high note individually.

  • Bears' Equanimeous St. Brown: Hauls in both targets

St. Brown caught two passes for 24 yards in the Bears' 27-24 loss to the Falcons on Sunday. St. Brown has surpassed 25 yards on just two occasions this season, and he hasn't scored a touchdown since Week 1. Unless his role changes, he'll be a fantasy option with both a low floor and ceiling each week.

  • Bears' Equanimeous St. Brown: Blanked in defeat

St. Brown failed to catch either of his two targets in the Bears' 35-32 loss to the Dolphins on Sunday. St. Brown had been targeted 10 times over Chicago's previous two games, but with Chase Claypool having been added to the team, St. Brown played a minor role in the offense. Even before Claypool arrived, St. Brown had been held to fewer than 10 yards in three of his last five games. His uncertain role in the offense going forward will make him tough to count on when setting fantasy lineups.
