Watkins (biceps) will require surgery to address an injury sustained Week 2 and could miss significant time, Jeremy Fowler of ESPN.com reports. Watkins seems a likely candidate to land on IR, where he could be sidelined more than the requisite minimum of four games. In two appearances for the Chiefs this season, he's racked up seven total tackles, one sack and one pass defensed.... See More ... See Less

Cowboys' Carlos Watkins: Sustains calf injury
Watkins has been ruled out for the remainder of Sunday's divisional-round game against the 49ers due to a calf injury, Michael Gehlken of The Dallas Morning News reports. Watkins went down in the first half of Sunday's matchup due to his calf injury, and he'll be unavailable to close out the game. Prior to his departure, he recorded a solo tackle. It's unclear whether the 2017 fourth-rounder would be available for next Sunday's NFC Championship Game against the Eagles if Dallas advances.... See More ... See Less -
Carlos Watkins: Dropped at deadline day
Watkins was released by the Cowboys on Tuesday, Rob Phillips of the team's official site reports. Watkins was let go as part of the team's final roster trimming Tuesday. The 28-year-old defensive tackle re-signed with Dallas in March after recording 32 tackles, one sack and one interception over 15 games (14 starts) in 2022. Watkins, who primarily played in a reserve role (42 games, 18 starts) over the first four years of his career with Houston, will now look to land a contract elsewhere heading into the regular season.... Cowboys' Carlos Watkins: Returns from COVID list
Watkins (undisclosed) was activated from the reserve/COVID-19 list Thursday, Michael Gehlken of The Dallas Morning News reports. Watkins landed on the COVID list Aug. 21 prior to the third preseason contest, and he'll rejoin the active roster after clearing the health and safety protocols. The 27-year-old signed with the Cowboys in the spring after recording 27 tackles and two sacks in 16 games (11 starts) for the Texans last year.... See More ... See Less -
Texans' Carlos Watkins: Records first sack
Watkins had two tackles and one sack in Sunday's 28-21 loss to the Steelers. Watkins is part of a rotation at defensive end along with Charles Omenihu and P.J. Hall. Both Watkins and Omenihu recorded sacks Sunday. Watkins, a four-year veteran out of Clemson, had a season-high 34 snaps against Pittsburgh.... See More ... See Less -
Texans' Carlos Watkins: Out for Week 14
Watkins (hamstring) is officially inactive for Sunday's matchup with the Broncos. Watkins turned in limited practice availability all week, and the issue will force him to miss a second straight game. In his stead, look for Charles Omenihu and Joel Heath to see an uptick in depth defensive line snaps for the contest.... See More ... See Less -
Texans' Carlos Watkins: Out for Week 13
Watkins (hamstring) is out for Sunday night's game against the Patriots, Sarah Barshop of ESPN.com reports. Watkins was unable to practice at all during the week. Charles Omenihu is in line for extra playing time with Angelo Blackson (shoulder) also banged up.... See More ... See Less -
Texans' Carlos Watkins: Condition improving
Watkins (hamstring) said his injury is not as bad as first feared, Aaron Wilson of the Houston Chronicle reports. Watkins was removed from last Thursday's win over the Colts. "I'm doing good," Watkins said. "It was definitely a lot worse during the game. I just freaked myself out a little more than what it actually was. Hopefully, I'll be out there [Sunday against New England]." Watkins, who helps fill in for the injured J.J. Watt (pectoral), has 13 tackles and one sack in seven games played.... See More ... Texans' Carlos Watkins: Helps fill in for Watt
Watkins had two tackles, a sack and a quarterback hit in Sunday's 26-3 win over Jacksonville. Watkins has been a depth piece on the defensive line since joining the Texans in 2017, but his role will grow with with J.J. Watt (pectoral) on the shelf for the rest of the season. The 25-year-old will be part of a crew that tries to replace Watt's production.... See More ... See Less -
Texans' Carlos Watkins: Has opportunity with Wilfork retirement
Watkins could be part of the rotation at nose tackle, where snaps will be available following the expected retirement of Vince Wilfork, John McClain of the Houston Chronicle reports. Watkins, selected in the fourth round (142nd overall) of the 2017 NFL Draft, played both nose tackle and defensive tackle at Clemson, where his quickness produced eye-popping sack totals from the interior defensive line. With the Texans, he'll be deployed as a run-stopper, meaning he'll need to add strength over the course of the summer.... See More ... See Less
