Anderson scored a goal in Thursday's 5-4 overtime loss to the Kings. Anderson snapped a seven-game point drought with his game-tying goal in the third period. The 25-year-old was just alright with 17 points, 57 shots on net, 48 hits and a plus-5 rating over 55 appearances with the Blackhawks this season. It was the best year of his career, but it's unlikely he would have seen that much playing time with many other teams. He'll be a restricted free agent this summer.... See More ... See Less

Blackhawks' Joey Anderson: Not close to returning
Anderson (shoulder) might not resume skating until after Chicago's five-game road trip concludes with a game against New Jersey on Jan. 5, Charlie Roumeliotis of NBC Sports Chicago reports Wednesday. Anderson isn't likely to return until Jan. 7 versus Calgary at the earliest, and it wouldn't be surprising if he's out for longer than that. The 25-year-old has five assists in 13 contests this season. Anderson's likely to serve as a bottom-six forward once he's available.... See More ... See Less -

Anderson was acquired by Chicago from Toronto on Tuesday, along with Pavel Gogolev, a 2025 first-round selection and a 2026 second-round pick, in a trade for Jake McCabe, Sam Lafferty and a pair of fifth-round picks. Per the NHL media site, Anderson has been added to the Hawks' NHL roster. Considering Anderson passed through waivers less than a week ago without being claimed, it's a little surprising to see him drawing interest as part of a trade. Over his five-year NHL career, the 24-year-old Minnesota native has logged just 72 games for the Devils and Leafs in which he tallied 16 points. While his AHL numbers have been impressive, keep in mind that the 24-year-old entered Friday's action averaging just 8:39 of ice time with the Maple Leafs this season and logged 8:15 on Friday, so Anderson's offensive contributions in the NHL are likely to be limited by his small role.... Anderson has appeared in just seven games for the Leafs this season in which he garnered one goal, four shots and 12 hits while averaging 9:11 of ice time.
