  • Blackhawks' Alex Vlasic: Signs six-year contract

Vlasic signed a six-year, $27.6 million contract extension Wednesday, Scott Powers of The Athletic reports. The 22-year-old blueliner managed two goals, 14 assists, 56 hits and 148 blocked shots in 76 appearances this season. He played against all the top lines, as he was part of the No. 1 pairing alongside Seth Jones. Expect 25-30 points from Vlasic next season, making him a fringe fantasy asset in deeper pools.

  • Blackhawks' Alex Vlasic: Helps out on power play

Vlasic notched a power-play assist, two shots on goal, four hits and two blocked shots in Tuesday's 5-2 win over the Coyotes. Vlasic had just one goal in all of February, but he's already picked up a pair of helpers over three games in March. The defenseman doesn't typically see much power-play time, but he was on the ice at the tail end of one and was able to help out on Jason Dickinson's second-period tally. Vlasic is at 13 points, 52 shots on net, 43 hits, 109 blocked shots and a minus-6 rating over 56 appearances in a top-four role this season.

  • Blackhawks' Alex Vlasic: Generates assist in return

Vlasic recorded an assist, two blocked shots and a plus-2 rating in Wednesday's 2-1 overtime win over the Jets. Vlasic missed four games with an upper-body injury before the holiday break. He logged 20:16 of ice time Wednesday, so he appears good to handle a top-four role at even strength going forward. The 22-year-old blueliner is up to seven points, 29 shots on net, 53 blocked shots and a plus-7 rating through 28 appearances this season. His limited offense likely keeps him on the waiver wire in most fantasy formats.

  • Blackhawks' Alex Vlasic: Unavailable against Blues

Vlasic (upper body) won't play Saturday against St. Louis, according to Ben Pope of the Chicago Sun-Times. Vlasic will miss his fourth straight contest. He has produced six points, 29 shots on goal, 51 blocked shots and 19 hits across 27 outings this season. When he is able to return, Isaak Phillips or Louis Crevier could be sent back to AHL Rockford.

  • Blackhawks' Alex Vlasic: Not ready to return

Vlasic (upper body) skated on his own, per Charlie Roumeliotis of NBC Sports Chicago, but isn't expected to play Tuesday versus Colorado. It's unclear at this time if Vlasic will be available to return before the Christmas break. Coach Luke Richardson said Tuesday that Vlasic is ahead of Seth Jones (shoulder), who will likely miss the next three contests, in his recovery. Vlasic has six points, 29 shots on goal, 51 blocked shots and 19 hits across 27 outings this season.

  • Blackhawks' Alex Vlasic: Game-time call Sunday

Vlasic (upper body) will be a game-time decision Sunday against the Canucks, Ben Pope of the Chicago Sun-Times. After missing practice Saturday, Vlasic's status for Sunday's matchup in Vancouver is now in question. With Seth Jones (upper body) already ruled out, the Blackhawks would need to recall an additional defender if Vlasic ultimately can't play.

  • Blackhawks' Alex Vlasic: Not practicing Saturday

Vlasic (upper body) didn't practice Saturday, per Scott Powers of The Athletic. Vlasic left Thursday's game against Seattle due to "precautionary reasons." Chicago will likely need to bring up an additional defenceman if the injury keeps Vlasic out Sunday against Vancouver. The 22-year-old blueliner has a goal and six points through 27 games this season.

  • Blackhawks' Alex Vlasic: Exits Friday's contest

Vlasic (undisclosed) will not return to Friday's game against Vegas. Vlasic took a big open-ice hit and immediately went back to the locker room. Prior to the injury, he tallied an assist on Connor Bedard's first-period goal. An update on Vlasic's status should be available before Monday's tilt in Arizona.

  • Blackhawks' Alex Vlasic: Secures roster spot

Vlasic earned a spot on Chicago's Opening Night roster. Vlasic spent most of last year with AHL Rockford, tallying two goals and 19 points in 56 games. He's scored three points over 21 career NHL appearances and dressed in just six games with Chicago last year. The 22-year-old blueliner should see top-four minutes to begin the 2023-24 season.

  • Blackhawks' Alex Vlasic: Garners assist Saturday

Vlasic logged an assist in Saturday's 7-3 loss to the Kraken. Vlasic set up Lukas Reichel's tally in the second period. Both players are expected to rejoin AHL Rockford soon for that team's playoff push. The assist was Vlasic's first point in six NHL games this season. He's added four shots on net, five hits, nine blocked shots and a minus-1 rating while playing in a fairly sheltered role. The 21-year-old should contend for a roster spot in training camp next fall.

  • Blackhawks' Alex Vlasic: Rises to top level

Vlasic was recalled by the Blackhawks on Tuesday. Although Vlasic's been promoted, at this point it isn't clear if he'll be in the lineup for Tuesday's game versus the Stars. The 21-year-old defender has yet to appear in an NHL contest this season, but he's picked up two goals and 17 points through 52 games with AHL Rockford.

  • Blackhawks' Alex Vlasic: Sent to minors

Chicago has sent Vlasic (undisclosed) to AHL Rockford, Charlie Roumeliotis of NBC Sports Chicago. Vlasic hasn't played yet this season due to the injury, but his reassignment is an indicator that he's healthy now. He'll get a chance to get back up to speed in the minors and gain some valuable experience. It wouldn't be surprising if Chicago calls him up at some point during the 2022-23 campaign.

  • Blackhawks' Alex Vlasic: Scores first career goal

Vlasic scored a goal in 14:04 of ice time in Wednesday's 4-3 win over the Coyotes. Vlasic's shot bounced off a defender's skate and past Karel Vejmelka to give him his first NHL goal. A second-round pick in 2019, the 6-foot-6 defenseman isn't likely to put up a lot of points at the NHL level anytime soon after posting just eight in 32 games with Boston University this season. The Blackhawks are hopeful that the Illinois native can become a valuable, defensive-minded blueliner.
