    The Colts signed McGrone off the Patriots' practice squad Tuesday, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports. McGrone had been on New England's practice squad throughout the duration of the season without any game action to show for it, but he'll now have an opportunity to make his NFL debut playing for Indianapolis following Tuesday's transaction. With the Colts' upcoming contest landing on a Monday, the 236-pound linebacker will have an extra day to adapt to the new playbook and possibly receive limited rotational snaps.

  • Patriots' Cameron McGrone: Plays Friday

    McGrone (elbow) played in New England's preseason win over the Panthers on Friday. McGrone had been nursing the injury after the teams previous game, but he was able to suit up Friday. The 22-year-old recorded two tackles in the game, as he tries to work his way up the team's linebacker positional depth chart.

    Patriots inside linebackers coach Jerrod Mayo says McGrone is "healthy" and that "he looks good" during offseason minicamp, Evan Lazar of the CLNS Media Network reports. McGrone did not see the field in his rookie season with New England while dealing with a knee injury suffered during his college career. The 2021 fifth-round pick is entering his age-22 season and likely will compete with Mack Wilson, Raekwon McMillan, Harvey Langi and Jahlani Tavai for snaps at inside linebacker heading into the upcoming regular season.

McGrone is out for the season due to the knee injury he suffered while at Michigan during the 2020 season. Selected in the fifth round of the 2021 Draft, McGrone will return his focus to making an impact in 2022.

    McGrone (knee) was designated to return from the non-football injury list Tuesday, Jim McBride of The Boston Globe reports. McGrone was selected in the fifth-round of the 2021 Draft and had tore his ACL while at Michigan in November of 2020. At the time it was thought he might miss the entire 2021 campaign, so any return this season would be seen as significant progress. Although his designation to return does not guarantee he plays this season, it has opened a 21-day window for him to practice with the team and try to get activated.
