  • Jets' Jeremy Ruckert: Spends most of rookie year on bench

Ruckert caught his only target for eight yards in Sunday's 11-6 loss to the Dolphins. Ruckert's impact as a rookie was limited primarily to special teams, as his lone catch came in the season finale. The 2022 third-round draft pick out of Ohio State played more than six offensive snaps only twice while being blocked by Tyler Conklin and C.J. Uzomah on the tight end depth chart. Ruckert flashed some intriguing skills in college, but he may need an injury or two in front of him to showcase those skills, as both Conklin and Uzomah are expected to remain with the Jets in 2023.

  • Jets' Jeremy Ruckert: One target in debut

Ruckert didn't catch his only target in Sunday's 31-30 win over the Browns. Ruckert made his NFL debut after sitting out the season opener, but the rookie third-round pick out of Ohio State wasn't heavily involved in the game plan. While Ruckert's a name to file away for the future, his short-term fantasy prospects are limited, even while C.J. Uzomah's recovering from a hamstring injury.

  • Jets' Jeremy Ruckert: Healthy scratch to start career

Ruckert (coach's decision) is inactive for Sunday's season opener against the Ravens, Billy Riccette of USA Today reports. Ruckert missed all of the Jets' OTAs and half of training camp due to a foot injury. While he's now healthy, the rookie third-round pick missed a substantial amount of practice time and will continue to be brought along slowly. New York made a splash in free agency this offseason by adding C.J. Uzomah and Tyler Conklin, so they'll be in no rush to thrust Ruckert into action if he isn't 100 percent comfortable with the playbook.

  • Jets' Jeremy Ruckert: Scores TD in NFL debut

Ruckert caught both of his targets for three yards and a touchdown in Friday's 24-21 preseason win over Philadelphia. A nice play design on fourth-and-goal from the 1-yard line allowed Ruckert to slip open underneath, and fourth-string quarterback Chris Streveler found the rookie tight end for a touchdown. Ruckert likely will be brought along slowly behind C.J. Uzomah and Tyler Conklin, but it's nice to see the third-round pick out of Ohio State healthy and contributing after he missed most of the offseason program due to a foot injury.

  • Jets' Jeremy Ruckert: Aiming to make up for lost time

Jets head coach Robert Saleh said Tuesday that Ruckert is playing catchup after missing all of New York's OTAs and half of training camp due to a foot injury, Ethan Sears of the New York Post reports. "He's swimming a little bit," Saleh said. "Obviously there's a lot of information coming in. He missed all of OTAs, half of training camp, and he's getting into the thick of it in the middle of it." The Jets have veterans C.J. Uzomah and Tyler Conklin at the top of the tight-end depth chart, so there's no need to rush the rookie third-round pick into the mix. However, Ruckert has immense upside and would give second-year quarterback Zach Wilson another legitimate receiving threat when he's finally up to speed with the playbook.

  • Jets' Jeremy Ruckert: Misses minicamp

Ruckert (foot) didn't participate in June minicamp, Connor Hughes of The Athletic reports. Neither did fellow tight end C.J. Uzomah, who reportedly was nursing a minor injury. Ruckert came to the Jets with a foot injury when they drafted him in the third round at the end of April, but he should have time to recover before training camp. Earning Year 1 snaps will be more of a challenge, as the Jets signed both Uzomah and Tyler Conklin earlier this offseason.

  • Jets' Jeremy Ruckert: Missing time with foot injury

Ruckert, who has been suffering from a foot injury, will be re-evaluated next week to determine the extent the rookie will be able to participate in the Jets' rookie OTAs, Ralph Vacchiano of SportsNet New York reports. The quote suggests the Jets are "hopeful" the 2022 third-round pick will be able to participate during any of the Jets' spring optional practices throughout the spring, including rookie OTAs. New York signed both C.J. Uzomah and Tyler Conklin this offseason to bolster a previously porous TE corps, so any missed time could put the Ohio State product even further behind in his quest for quality snaps during his rookie campaign.

  • Jets' Jeremy Ruckert: Latest addition in New York

The Jets selected Ruckert in the third round of the 2022 NFL Draft, 101st overall. New York picked up C.J. Uzomah in free agency, but Ruckert is a nice speculative add for the Jets. Ruckert was highly touted coming out of high school, but Ohio State's loaded receiving corps limited his opportunities to shine through the air, as he didn't have a 20-catch season until his senior year. He was unable to test at the combine due to a left foot injury, but Ruckert has a conventional tight-end frame at 6-foot-5 and 252 pounds. Ruckert may be blocked in terms of immediate playing time, but he could find a role in this offense by his second or third season.
