  • Patriots' Josh Uche: Returning to New England

Uche has agreed to terms on a one-year deal with the Patriots, Mike Garafolo of NFL Network reports. Uche reportedly had bigger offers elsewhere, but he opted to return to Foxborough for less. The 2020 second-round pick has played four seasons with the Pats and was both a depth defender and special teams contributor last season. He currently projects to start opposite Matthew Judon (biceps) at outside linebacker in 2024.

  • Patriots' Josh Uche: Downgraded to out

The Patriots have downgraded Uche (foot) to out for Sunday's game against the Dolphins, Doug Kyed of the Boston Herald reports. Uche originally drew a questionable designation, but he is now going to miss his second straight game after injuring his foot in Week 6. As a result, Chris Board and Anfernee Jennings are candidates to again see increased workloads at linebacker.

  • Patriots' Josh Uche: Likely avoids serious injury

Uche's foot injury is not considered a long-term issue, Jeremy Fowler of ESPN.com reports. Uche left New England's Week 6 win over the Raiders with a foot issue, but it seems as if he's dodged what could have been a serious injury. The 25-year-old saw his snap share increase from 26 percent to 50 percent in the absence of Matthew Judon (biceps), and he's now second on the team in sacks with two on the season.

  • Patriots' Josh Uche: Stays hot, has career day

Uche recorded seven tackles (six solo), two sacks and one forced fumble during Thursday's 24-10 loss to the Bills. Uche easily put together his best outing of his young three-year NFL tenure, including a strip-sack just before halftime to keep New England within 10 points against their division rivals. The 24-year-old also logged a career-high seven stops, forced his first fumble as a professional, played a season-high 32 defensive snaps and added two more sacks to his resume. Uche now has seven sacks across the Patriots' last five games, and he'll look to continue wreaking havoc next Monday night in Arizona.

  • Patriots' Josh Uche: Back on injury report

Uche (hamstring) was listed as a limited participant on Monday's estimated injury report, Jim McBride of The Boston Globe reports. Uche continues to battle a lingering hamstring injury, but he's suited up for three consecutive contests following a two-game absence. However, after posting eight tackles and four sacks across his previous two appearances, the pass rusher didn't record any counting stats across 18 defensive snaps in Week 11. Uche will have two more opportunities to log a full practice before the team needs to make a decision on his availability for Thursday's matchup against the Vikings.

  • Patriots' Josh Uche: Ready to go Sunday

Uche (hamstring) is active Sunday against the Jets. Uche's hamstring has been a lingering issue for the third-year pro this season. However, he's feeling well enough to play Sunday, which is good news for the Patriots' linebacker corps.

  • Patriots' Josh Uche: Status up in the air

Uche (hamstring) is listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the Jets. Uche has been dealing with a lingering hamstring injury since Week 6, leaving him limited in each practice ahead of Sunday's tilt against the Jets. The third-year linebacker was still able to suit up after being listed as questionable for the Patriots' Week 9 win over the Colts, so there's a good chance that the same scenario could play out Week 11. If Uche is ultimately sidelined, New England could be left short-handed at outside linebacker against the Jets, as Anfernee Jennings (back) is also considered questionable to play.

  • Patriots' Josh Uche: Ready to go Sunday

Uche (hamstring) is active Sunday against the Colts. Uche will shed his injury designation on gameday for the second week in a row. The third-year pro's availability should be a boost to team's linebacker rotation against Indianapolis.

  • Patriots' Josh Uche: Questionable once again

Uche (hamstring) is questionable for Sunday's game against the Colts. Uche was also questionable ahead of last week's game against the Jets, but he was able to return from a two-game absence to log two tackles, including a sack, while playing 22 defensive snaps. He was limited during practice all week ahead of Sunday's matchup against Indianapolis, but it wouldn't be surprising to see him take the field again in Week 9.

Uche (illness) was placed on the reserve/COVID-19 list Tuesday, Mike Reiss of ESPN.com reports, as a result of testing positive for the virus, according to Adam Schefter of ESPN. Uche had just returned from IR due to an ankle injury, but he'll now potentially face missing more time in COVID protocols. If he is vaccinated, he can clear protocols by producing two negative tests more than 24 hours apart.

  • Patriots' Josh Uche: Lands on IR

Uche (foot) was placed on injured reserve Thursday, Mike Reiss of ESPN.com reports. After missing nearly the entire first half of the season because of foot and ankle injuries, Uche will make yet another trip to IR as New England closes out its first non-playoff season since 2008. The second-round rookie was not terribly effective over his nine appearances this season, generating one sack and just nine tackles on a workload of 19.8 defensive snaps per contest. Uche's seven QB hits show he has promise as a pass rusher, though he largely struggled to close on those opportunities in 2020.

  • Patriots' Josh Uche: Misses practice Wednesday

Uche (foot) didn't participate in Wednesday's practice, Phil Perry of NBC Sports Boston reports. Uche made his first start of the season in this past Monday's loss to the Bills, but he suffered a foot injury after playing just 31 snaps. The rookie second-rounder is in danger of missing the season finale after being absent from practice to start the week. It's an unfortunate incident, as Uche was expected to handle a major workload to close out the season so that the Patriots could better examine his abilities. Chase Winovich and John Simon should both see more playing time if Uche is sidelined for Sunday's game against the Jets.

The Patriots activated Uche (foot) from injured reserve Saturday, Aaron Wilson of the Houston Chronicle reports. The start of Uche's NFL career has been tumultuous, as he was a healthy scratch Week 1 and sat out the next five games with a foot injury. After practicing for two weeks, the second-round pick out of Michigan could make his NFL debut Sunday against the Bills. His role may only be on special teams to start off, though.

  • Patriots' Josh Uche: Out Week 2

Uche (ankle) will not play in Sunday's Week 2 matchup with the Seahawks. Uche was inactive due to a coach's decision in the Patriots' season-opening victory over the Dolphins. He was limited at practice due to an ankle issue this week, and it looks like the team will err on the side of caution and continue to take it slow with the 60th overall pick in the 2020 draft.
