Top Byron Pringle News

  • Commanders' Byron Pringle: Catches three passes

Pringle caught each of his three targets for 33 yards and lost a fumble in Sunday's 31-19 loss to the Giants.

The fumble came at the end of a long kick return, spoiling an otherwise solid day for Pringle, who was one of three Commanders WRs to finish in the range of 25-to-35-percent snap share with Curtis Samuel ejected for fighting. The rotation behind the top three suggests Pringle won't have much value even if Samuel, Terry McLaurin and/or Jahan Dotson misses time over the final month and a half of the season.

  • Commanders' Byron Pringle: Catches one pass

Pringle caught his lone target for 16 yards in Sunday's 14-7 loss to the Giants.

Pringle ran only three routes, fifth most among Washington's wide receivers. He could perhaps get a little more playing time in the future if the team grows frustrated with Jahan Dotson, but for now the Commanders seem more inclined to let their 2022 first-round pick work through his struggles. Pringle isn't likely to see more than a target or two Week 8 against Philadelphia.

  • Commanders' Byron Pringle: Hauls in a pass

Pringle caught one of two targets for 10 yards in a 40-20 loss to Chicago on Thursday night.

Pringle is Washington's No. 5 receiver and doesn't stand a great chance to move up the depth chart without an injury, considering the guy ahead of him who has struggled so far (Jahan Dotson) was a first-round pick last year and scored seven TDs as a rookie. Dotson should get the chance to continue working through his struggles, leaving Pringle and Dyami Brown in depth roles unless one of Washington's top three wideouts misses time with an injury. The Commanders travel to Atlanta in Week 6.

  • Commanders' Byron Pringle: Records short reception

Pringle played 13 snaps on offense in Sunday's 35-33 win over Denver, reeling in his lone target for a four-yard gain.

After being limited exclusively to a special-teams role in the Commanders' Week 1 win over the Cardinals, Pringle was able to carve out a small depth role at receiver. He still ranked well behind Terry McLaurin, Jahan Dotson, Curtis Samuel and Dyami Brown and is unlikely to carve out a meaningful passing-game role unless the Commanders lose multiple receivers to injury.

  • Commanders' Byron Pringle: Still on roster

Pringle has a spot on Washington's initial 53-man roster, JP Finlay of NBC Sports Washington reports.

The Commanders are carrying seven wide receivers, including undrafted rookie Mitchell Tinsley. That may not last, but it's not a total shock given that No. 1 receiver Terry McLaurin (toe) is uncertain for Week 1 against the Cardinals. Pringle likely would be only fourth or fifth on the depth chart even if McLaurin were to miss the game.
