Commanders' Nathan Gerry: Re-signed by Washington
The Commanders re-signed Gerry on Wednesday to a one-year contract, Ralph Vacchiano of Fox Sports reports.
Gerry spent the majority of last season on Washington's practice squad and didn't record any statistics in four appearances with the club, with all of his snaps coming on special teams. While the 28-year-old linebacker isn't a lock to make the team coming out of the preseason, his experience on the third unit could be enough for him to secure a roster spot.

Gerry was expected to miss all of the 2022 season after landing on Washington's IR for an unknown reason Tuesday. The 27-year-old, who has not played since the 2020 campaign (57 tackles, two passes defended), will now be free to sign elsewhere once he gets healthy again.

Consider this signing a move to solidify the 49ers' depth as Gerry isn't expected to be a critical factor in the team's linebacker rotation. Despite playing in just seven games, Gerry nearly set a career high in tackles with 57 in 2020, but he was often picked on by opposing passing attacks.
