The Commanders re-signed Gerry on Wednesday to a one-year contract, Ralph Vacchiano of Fox Sports reports. Gerry spent the majority of last season on Washington's practice squad and didn't record any statistics in four appearances with the club, with all of his snaps coming on special teams. While the 28-year-old linebacker isn't a lock to make the team coming out of the preseason, his experience on the third unit could be enough for him to secure a roster spot.... See More ... See Less

Commanders' Nathan Gerry: Will play Sunday
Gerry (illness) is active Sunday against the Cowboys. Gerry was able to log a limited practice Friday after being a DNP on Thursday. His ability to suit up Sunday will bolster the team's depth at linebacker against Dallas.... See More ... See Less -
Nathan Gerry: Joins Washington's practice squad
The Commanders signed Gerry (undisclosed) to the practice squad Thursday. Gerry was released from injured reserve with an injury settlement by the Commanders back in August, and he now rejoins the team as a member of the practice squad. The 27-year-old linebacker hasn't suited up for a regular-season game since 2020.... See More ... See Less -
Commanders' Nate Gerry: Lands with Washington
Gerry signed a contract with the Commanders on Sunday, Mike Kaye of The Newark Star-Ledger reports. Gerry hasn't played since 2020, after completing four seasons with the Eagles. He signed with the 49ers in March of 2021, but he was released a short time later in July. The 27-year-old will work to take advantage of this new opportunity to get himself back on a game-day roster.... See More ... See Less -
Nate Gerry: Released by 49ers
Gerry was released by the 49ers on Tuesday, Rueben Frank of NBCSports.com reports. Gerry did not last long in San Francisco, being released before even suiting up for a game. The 26-year-old linebacker will now look to sign on with a new team prior to the beginning of training camp later this month.... See More ... See Less -
Eagles' Nate Gerry: Finishes with 57 stops
Gerry (ankle) notched 57 tackles (32 solo) one sack and two defensed passes across seven games in 2020. Gerry failed to suit up for at least double-digit games for the first time in his career in 2020, but he nonetheless finished with his second-highest tackle total before injuring his ankle. The soon-to-be 26-year-old is scheduled to become a restricted free agent this offseason, so it remains to be seen whether he'll be back with Philadelphia.... See More ... See Less -
Eagles' Nate Gerry: Nursing ankle injury
Gerry was a non-participant at Wednesday's practice due to an ankle injury. The 25-year-old had eight tackles and his first sack of the season during Thursday's win over the Giants, but he apparently sustained the ankle injury during the contest. Gerry likely needs to practice in some capacity the next couple days to have a chance of suiting up Week 8.... See More ... See Less -
Eagles' Nate Gerry: Paces team in tackles
Gerry made nine tackles (seven solo) in Sunday's 30-28 loss to the Ravens. Gerry tied Alex Singleton for the team lead in tackles, as he's recorded at least seven stops in each of the first six games, totaling 49 so far. The Nebraska product plays nearly every snap on Philadelphia's defense, and with the tackle count staying high, Gerry should be confidently deployed in IDP settings moving forward.... See More ... Eagles' Nate Gerry: Activated from COVID-19 list
Gerry has been activated from the Eagles' reserve/COVID-19 list, Martin Frank of The Delaware News Journal reports. With Nigel Bradham now with the Saints, look for Gerry to handle the team's defensive play-calling duties. The 25-year-old recorded 78 tackles and 2.5 sacks in 16 games (including 12 starts) last season. With a full-time starting gig on tap in 2020, Gerry could see enough of an uptick in production to merit consideration in IDP formats.... See More ... See Less -
Eagles' Nate Gerry: Undergoes surgery
Gerry underwent core muscle surgery this week, John Clark of NBC Sports Philadelphia reports. The 24-year-old apparently sustained the injury during camp, but he opted to play through it since he had a chance to seize a significant defensive role in 2019. Gerry ended up finishing the season playing in all 16 games (12 starts) with 78 tackles (52 solo), 2.5 sacks, two interceptions and one touchdown.... See More ... See Less -
Eagles' Nate Gerry: Fills up box score in loss
Gerry recorded six tackles (one solo), half a sack, a pass breakup and a fumble recovery in Sunday's 17-9 loss to Seattle. Since securing a starting role in Week 6, Gerry has at least five tackles in every game. He's also picked up his 2.5 sacks on the year in his last four efforts. More big-play potential lies ahead for the 24-year-old in Week 13's matchup with the Dolphins.... See More ... See Less -
Eagles' Nate Gerry: Plays all defensive snaps Week 7
Gerry tallied 11 tackles (seven solo) in Sunday's 37-10 loss to the Cowboys. Mainly a special-teams contributor for the Eagles through the team's first five games, Gerry has stepped into an expanded role on defense the past two weeks following the release of Zach Brown and the injury to Nigel Bradham (ankle). Gerry started and played all 70 of the Eagles' defensive snaps, which helped him reach double digits in stops. If Bradham is back in Week 8 in Buffalo, one of Gerry, T.J. Edwards or Kamu Grugier-Hill would slide into a reserve role at linebacker.... See More ... See Less
