Penn State transfer list

The NCAA's sweeping sanctions leveled against Penn State have an immediate impact on the current roster ahead of fall camp as the association announced relaxed transfer policies for current Nittany Lions players. Although a mass exodus has not happened despite every person on the roster being allowed to leave without penalty, 10 players have taken advantage and transferred or left the team.

	Tim Buckley	Redshirt freshman safety	N.C. State
	A walk-on for the Nittany Lions, Buckley was the first player to transfer on July 30th. A native of Raleigh, he will have four years of eligibility.
	Silas Redd	Junior running back	USC
	The biggest name to transfer from Penn State in the wake of the NCAA sanctions, Redd ran for 1,241 yards last season and earned Second Team All-Big Ten honors. The junior will have two years of eligibility with the Trojans, the only school he reportedly considered, and gives the offense a second 1,000 yard rusher on the preseason No. 2 team full of firepower.
	Kevin Haplea	Junior tight end	Florida State
	Haplea took a visit to Tallahassee and it wasn't too long before he made things official and joined the Seminoles with two years of eligibility left. Mostly a blocker, the 6-foot-4, 248-pounder had three receptions for 21 yards and a touchdown last season. He will compete for playing time with Nick O’Leary and Dan Hicks at the position for Florida State.
	Khairi Fortt	Junior linebacker	California
	Following his teammate Redd to the Pac-12, Fortt transferred on August 1st after logging 33 tackles and one sack last season. The junior was expected to challenge for a starting spot at linebacker alongside several veterans at Penn State but will head to Berkeley instead and look to replace Pac-12 Defensive Player of the Year Mychal Kendricks. Fortt seriously considered the Bears out of high school and it appears that relationship played a factor in his decision.
	Rob Bolden	Junior quarterback	LSU
	Bolden played in 20 games for Penn State over two years but never took control of the starting job, falling to third on the depth chart released by Bill O'Brien. LSU junior Zach Mettenberger is slated to be the starter for the Tigers but Bolden gives the program a veteran backup with only two other quarterbacks on the roster, both of whom are redshirt freshmen who have yet to take a snap. Bolden was an Elite 11 signal-caller coming out of high school ranked as the No. 4 dual-threat quarterback in the country by Maxpreps.
	Jamil Pollard	Freshman defensive tackle	Rutgers
	Pollard's career in State College is over before it began after taking advantage of the transfer policy to play in his home state of New Jersey. A class of 2012 signee, the 6-foot-4, 280-pounder was ranked as the No. 14 defensive tackle in the class by Maxpreps. He reportedly did not consider any other schools.
	Anthony Fera	Senior kicker/punter	Texas
	Fera handled the place-kicking and punting duties for Penn State in 2011, and was semifinalist for both the Lou Groza and Ray Guy Awards. He converted on 14 of his 17 field goal attempts (82%) and his 41.95 yard punting average was second-best in the Big Ten. It is likely that Fera will be able to compete for playing time immediately during his single season with the Longhorns, a school closer to his family in the Houston area.
	Ryan Nowicki	Redshirt freshman offensive lineman	Illinois
	Nowicki has a chance to contribute at Illinois immediately after transferring as the Illini are looking to replace two starters along the offensive line. The 6-foot-5, 280-pound Nowicki was a two-time all-state selection in high school and also considered Arizona State, which was closer to his hometown of Glendale, Ariz.
	Justin Brown	Senior wide receiver	Oklahoma
	Slated to be the Nittany Lions' most experienced wideout this season, Brown led the team with 35 receptions, 517 yards and two touchdowns receiving last season. Also a dangerous punt return man, he ranked 36th in the country last year. He fills a big need at the position for the Sooners and gives them a bigger target on the outside and in the red zone.
	Dakota Royer	Redshirt sophomore tight end	TBA
	Originally brought into State College to play defense, Royer was moved to tight end by Bill O'Brien in the spring. He was listed as third on the depth chart at the position after not seeing any action the past two years. He remains at Penn State to finish his degree.
