  • Maple Leafs' Ilya Lyubushkin: Unavailable for Saturday

Lyubushkin (illness) will not be in the lineup against Edmonton on Saturday, David Alter of The Hockey News reports. Lyubushkin will be out of action for his third consecutive game due to his lingering illness. In seven games since joining the Leafs, the 29-year-old defenseman has managed just two assists, four shots and 28 hits. Given his limited offensive upside, most fantasy players won't be impacted by his continued absence.

  • Maple Leafs' Ilya Lyubushkin: Under the weather

Lyubushkin is dealing with an illness and is not expected to play against the Flyers on Tuesday, David Alter of The Hockey News reports. Lyubushkin still hasn't scored a goal this season, adding just six assists in 62 games for the Ducks and Maple Leafs. As such, few fantasy managers will likely be impacted by his potential absence, though he has racked up plenty of hits (140) and blocked shots (148) and could have value in formats that value defensive stats.

Lyubushkin (undisclosed) participated in Saturday's morning skate and is expected to be in the lineup versus Carolina, according to Mark Masters of TSN. • Maple Leafs' Ilya Lyubushkin: Questionable for Saturday

Lyubushkin (undisclosed) was not at practice Friday after getting banged up Thursday in Philadelphia, Mark Masters of TSN reports. Coach Sheldon Keefe said the Maple Leafs are hopeful Lyububshkin will be able to suit up Saturday against the Hurricanes, but the team will wait to see how he responds at morning skate. Lyubushkin has two assists in six games with Toronto this season and chipped in with four helpers in 55 games with the Ducks earlier in the campaign.

  • Maple Leafs' Ilya Lyubushkin: Grabs first point since trade

Lyubushkin assisted on the Maple Leafs' lone goal during Monday's 4-1 loss to the Bruins. It's Lyubushkin's first point since being traded back to Toronto from Anaheim. The assist gives him no goals and five assists through 57 games. Clearly, the Maple Leafs believe he can help them push for a deep playoff run. However, fantasy managers should proceed with caution.

  • Maple Leafs' Ilya Lyubushkin: Good to go

Lyubushkin (head) is expected to play Monday against Boston, Mark Masters of TSN reports. The 29-year-old Russian exited Saturday's win over the Rangers in the second period after absorbing a heavy hit from New York's Matt Rempe, but it appears Lyubushkin has already shaken off his issue. Lyubushkin, who's picked up four helpers and 116 blocks through 56 games between the Ducks and the Maple Leafs this season, is expected to skate alongside Morgan Rielly in the top four versus the Bruins.

Lyubushkin (head) exited Saturday's game versus the Rangers, Joshua Kloke of The Athletic reports. Lyubushkin took a heavy hit from Matt Rempe in the second period. This was his return to the Maple Leafs after being traded from the Ducks on Thursday. The Leafs are short on defensemen, so it's unclear what they'll do if Lyubushkin misses additional time.

  • Maple Leafs' Ilya Lyubushkin: Heading back to Toronto

Lyubushkin was traded from the Ducks to the Maple Leafs via the Hurricanes on Thursday, Elliotte Friedman of Sportsnet reports. The Hurricanes will retain salary in the deal and receive Toronto's 2024 sixth-round pick, while the Ducks will get Toronto's 2025 third-round pick in the three-team swap, per Pierre LeBrun of The Athletic. Unsigned winger Kirill Slepets' signing rights were also traded from the Hurricanes to the Maple Leafs, LeBrun reports. Lyubushkin had six points in 31 contests with the Maple Leafs in 2021-22 following a trade from the Coyotes, and he added 14 points over 68 outings with the Sabres last season. He's been less effective on offense in 2023-24, with four assists and 38 shots on net over 55 contests with Anaheim, though he's added a physical element in a bottom-four role with 112 hits, 138 blocked shots and 51 PIM.

Lyubushkin hasn't produced much for Anaheim this year, recording only four assists in 46 games. The 29-year-old will look to help the struggling Ducks with his defensive play where he's logged 72 hits and 119 blocked shots on the season. He will line up on the third defensive pairing with Urho Vaakanainen against the Sharks.

  • Ducks' Ilya Lyubushkin: Out Thursday

Lyubushkin (upper body) is day-to-day and won't play Thursday against Dallas. Lyubushkin missed Sunday's 5-2 loss to the Rangers but was able to return for Tuesday's 4-2 victory over Buffalo. It's not clear if he's dealing with the same upper-body injury that cost him Saturday's game or if this is a new issue. Lyubushkin has four assists, 51 PIM, 72 hits and 119 blocks in 46 outings this season. Robert Hagg will draw back into the lineup due to Lyubushkin's absence.

  • Ducks' Ilya Lyubushkin: Back in action

Lyubushkin (upper body) will play in Tuesday's game versus the Sabres. Lyubushkin's status amounted to a game-time decision, but he'll suit up on the third pairing after a one-game absence. He'll be paired with Olen Zellweger, who is making his NHL debut Tuesday. Lyubushkin hasn't recorded a point in his last 11 contests.

Lyubushkin notched an assist, two blocked shots and a plus-3 rating in Wednesday's 5-2 win over the Golden Knights. Lyubushkin helped out on Frank Vatrano's first-period marker, which stood as the game-winner. The 29-year-old Lyubushkin has earned two of his four assists this season over the last six games. The blueliner plays mostly a defensive role in the Ducks' bottom four. He's added 24 shots on net, 24 PIM, 58 hits, 84 blocked shots and a minus-3 rating through 34 appearances, but his offense is too limited to help most fantasy managers.

  • Ducks' Ilya Lyubushkin: Slated to play Thursday

Lyubushkin (upper body) is set to play Thursday against Washington. Lyubushkin couldn't complete Tuesday's 3-1 loss to Vancouver due to the injury, but he won't end up missing a full game. He has two assists, 42 hits and 56 blocks in 22 contests this campaign. Lyubushkin's projected to play on the third pairing alongside Pavel Mintyukov.

  • Ducks' Ilya Lyubushkin: Questionable to finish game

Lyubushkin sustained an upper-body injury and is questionable to return to Tuesday's game versus the Canucks. Lyubushkin logged 6:48 of ice time in the first period but was unavailable to begin the second. With Radko Gudas (lower body) dealing with a short-term issue, it's possible the Ducks may need to call up a defenseman from AHL San Diego prior to Thursday's contest versus the Capitals.

  • Ducks' Ilya Lyubushkin: Gets on scoresheet Sunday

Lyubushkin notched an assist, two PIM and a plus-2 rating in Sunday's 4-2 win over the Golden Knights. Lyubushkin helped out on a Mason McTavish tally in the third period, which stood as the game-winning goal. The 29-year-old Lyubushkin had gone without a point in his first 10 games with the Ducks after an offseason trade from Buffalo. He's been as physical as ever with 20 hits, 31 blocked shots and eight PIM through 11 outings while filling a bottom-four role. Don't expect much offense from Lyubushkin, as his career high in points is 15 in the 2021-22 campaign he split between Arizona and Toronto.

  • Ducks' Ilya Lyubushkin: Dealt to Ducks

Buffalo traded Lyubushkin to Anaheim in exchange for a fourth-round draft pick Friday. Lyubushkin scored two goals and 14 points in 68 games with the Sabres last season. The 29-year-old likely would've been an extra blueliner for Buffalo this year but he should see bottom-four minutes with the Ducks.

  • Sabres' Ilya Lyubushkin: Collects three helpers Saturday

Lyubushkin recorded three assists in Saturday's 6-3 win over the Ducks. It was a career-best effort for the 28-year-old blueliner, who had never produced more than two points in an NHL game before Saturday. Lyubushkin isn't likely to repeat the performance any time soon, however -- he came into the game with only five points, all helpers, through 30 games, and he hasn't seen a second of power-play time since early November.
