  • Sabres' Owen Power: Slides helper

Power recorded an assist, three shots on goal, two hits and two blocked shots in Friday's 5-2 win over the Devils. Power snapped a three-game point drought by helping out on John-Jason Peterka's empty-net goal in the third period. The 21-year-old Power has otherwise had a solid March with nine points over 14 contests, accounting for nearly a third of his production all season. He's at 29 points, 96 shots on net, 103 blocked shots and a plus-3 rating through 68 outings overall.

  • Sabres' Owen Power: Plucks apple in loss

Power notched an assist and two PIM in Tuesday's 3-2 loss to the Canucks. Power has four points over his last four contests. The 21-year-old defenseman continues to find ways to chip in while serving in a top-four role. He's up to 28 points, 91 shots on net, 96 blocked shots and a plus-4 rating over 64 appearances. He likely doesn't have enough time to match last year's 35-point campaign, but a late surge on offense could change that.

  • Sabres' Owen Power: Scores in Monday's win

Power scored a goal on two shots, blocked five shots and went plus-2 in Monday's 6-2 win over the Kraken. A John-Jason Peterka shot pinged off the post after multiple deflections, and Power was there to pot the rebound midway through the second period. The 21-year-old Power has three goals and four assists over nine outings in March. The arrival of Bowen Byram via trade has cut into Power's playing time a bit, but the Sabres have found room for all three of their strong young defensemen. Power has six goals, 27 points, 90 shots on net, 95 blocked shots and a plus-3 rating over 63 contests this season.

  • Sabres' Owen Power: Two helpers against Isles

Power picked up two assists, one on the power play, in Thursday's 4-0 win over the Islanders. After a scoreless first period, the 21-year-old blueliner helped set up Victor Olofsson for the game's opening tally, which became the eventual game-winner. In 10 games since returning from a hand injury, Power has racked up three goals and eight points, with three of the assists coming on the man advantage, but it will likely be tough for him to maintain that pace given his spot on the second unit while Rasmus Dahlin and Bowen Byram handle first-unit duties.

  • Sabres' Owen Power: Big three-point effort

Power had a goal and two assists in a 7-2 win over Vegas on Saturday. Power has 23 points, including 19 assists, in 55 games this season. Five of those points have come in his last four games. Power has struggled to take the next step in his game, but we need to remember that this is just his second full season, and he's only 21. His best is yet to come.

  • Sabres' Owen Power: Not cleared for contact

Power (hand) is practicing Friday in a non-contact jersey, Lance Lysowski of The Buffalo News reports. Power has missed the last five games and will miss a sixth straight Friday in Columbus. Power has only two goals and 18 points in 51 games this season including just two assists on the power play despite averaging 1:40 of playing time with the man advantage.

  • Sabres' Owen Power: Surfaces on IR

Power (hand) was placed on injured reserve Monday, per the NHL media site. In a corresponding move, Kale Clague was summoned from AHL Rochester. Power is considered week-to-week after suffering a left hand injury during practice last Monday. He has accounted for two goals, 18 points, 73 shots on net and 74 blocked shots over 51 appearances this season.

  • Sabres' Owen Power: Deemed week-to-week

Power is considered week-to-week with a hand injury, Bill Hoppe of the Olean Times Herald reports. Given the length of Power's expected absence, it wouldn't be surprising to see him land on injured reserve in the coming days. The No. 1 overall pick from the 2021 Draft has been a bit disappointing from an offensive standpoint this season, picking up only two goals and 18 points through 51 games after tallying four goals and 35 points through 79 contests as a rookie in 2022-23, but he still has a bright future ahead of him. Henri Jokiharju will likely see an expanded role during Power's absence.

  • Sabres' Owen Power: Two helpers in OT win

Power picked up two assists while adding four shots on net, two blocked shots and a plus-2 rating in Saturday's 3-2 overtime win over the Blue Jackets. The 21-year-old blueliner produced his first multi-point performance in over a month. Power went most of December stuck in a slump, going 11 straight games without getting onto the scoresheet at all, but he's shaken it off with a goal and four points in the last four contests -- a stretch in which he's also contributed seven shots on net, seven blocked shots, four hits and a stellar plus-8 rating.

  • Sabres' Owen Power: Effective against Toronto

Power scored a goal to complement a plus-5 rating and three blocked shots in Thursday's 9-3 win over the Maple Leafs. The Sabres allowed nine goals with Power skating to a minus-4 rating in the team's previous game against the Blue Jackets on Tuesday, so this was a fine way for the young defenseman to balance out that poor outing. Power, who's in his second full NHL season, was stuck in an 11-game point drought before snapping out of it with his goal against the Leafs. He has two goals and 11 assists, including two on the power play, plus 54 blocked shots through 34 contests.

  • Sabres' Owen Power: Collects two assists in win

Power recorded two assists in a 5-1 win over the Rangers on Monday. Power had a quiet stretch offensively from Nov. 3-Nov. 24 in which he registered three assists over 10 outings, but he seems to be heating back up with three helpers over his last two games. The 21-year-old defenseman is a key part of the Sabres' defense, entering Monday's action averaging 22:47 of ice time per game, but he's not as much of an offensive threat from the blue line as teammate Rasmus Dahlin. Power will still chip in on a semi-regular basis, though. He has a goal and 12 points through 22 outings this year, and that's a scoring pace he should be able to maintain.

  • Sabres' Owen Power: Draws helper in loss

Power posted an assist, three shots on goal, two hits and two PIM in Friday's 5-4 loss to the Devils. Power has logged a helper in two straight games, and he's up to four assists through eight contests overall. The defenseman helped out on John-Jason Peterka's tally in the first period. Power also has 13 shots on net, 10 blocked shots, two PIM and a plus-4 rating this season, and he's playing in a top-four role.

  • Sabres' Owen Power: Signs seven-year deal

Power signed a seven-year, $58.45 million contract with the Sabres on Wednesday. Just two days after locking in Rasmus Dahlin with an eight-year extension, the Sabres also got a deal done with Power, solidifying the team's defense corps for the remainder of the decade. Power was solid as a rookie last season, posting four goals, 31 assists, 130 shots on goal and 86 blocked shots in 79 contests. The 20-year-old defenseman should be able to grow into the deal, which begins in 2024-25.

  • Sabres' Owen Power: Two helpers in win

Power logged two assists in Monday's 4-3 win over the Maple Leafs. Power set up Jack Quinn's goal in the second period before setting up Alex Tuch's tally in the third. It's Power's first multi-point game since Dec. 29. The rookie blueliner has had a solid year overall with four goals, 22 assists and a plus-11 rating through 63 games.

  • Sabres' Owen Power: Finds twine in win

Power scored a goal on three shots in Saturday's 4-2 win over the Sharks. Power gave the Sabres a 2-1 lead at 6:26 of the second period. The defenseman has scored all four of his goals this season in his last nine games, but he hasn't recorded an assist in that span. He's up to 20 points, 84 shots on net, 60 blocked shots and a plus-13 rating through 51 outings overall.

  • Sabres' Owen Power: Nets goal vs. Blues

Power provided a goal in Buffalo's 5-3 win against the Blues on Tuesday. Power found the back of the net at 9:07 of the first period to push the Sabres' lead to 3-0. It was his second goal and 18th point in 44 contests in 2022-23. Power has recorded a point in each of his last three games.

  • Sabres' Owen Power: Great timing for first goal

Power scored a goal on three shots in Monday's 3-2 overtime win over the Stars. Power's first goal of the season came 56 seconds into overtime, securing the win for the Sabres in a tight game. He'd scored twice in eight contests in a late-season audition following his collegiate campaign last year, but he's yet to show consistent finishing even for a blueliner. The 20-year-old has 17 points, a plus-10 rating, 71 shots on net, 55 blocked shots and 18 PIM through 43 outings.

  • Sabres' Owen Power: Dishes out two helpers in return

Power was credited with a pair of assists during a 6-3 victory over the visiting Red Wings on Thursday. Power, who was sidelined the previous three games with a lower-body injury, made an immediate impact Thursday, earning helpers on Casey Mittelstadt's two markers. The 20-year-old blueliner joined Kale Clague on the second pairing and logged 21:08 of ice time, including 3:29 with the man advantage. Power contributed two shots, two PIM and a plus-2 rating in the win.

  • Sabres' Owen Power: Returning Thursday

Power (lower body) will be in the lineup against the Red Wings on Thursday. Power is back on the ice after missing the previous three games due to his lower-body problem. The blueliner is currently stuck in a seven-game pointless streak during which he has registered 13 shots, 10 PIM and nine blocks. In addition to his even-strength role, Power should get a look with the No. 2 power-play unit, which could help him break through offensively.

  • Sabres' Owen Power: No timeline for return

Power (lower body) is "making good progress," but there's no timeline for his return to the lineup, Bill Hoppe of the Olean Times Herald reports. At this point it's probably safe to assume Power will be held out through the NHL's holiday break at a minimum. Kale Clague will likely continue to see top-four usage until Power, who's collected 10 helpers through 29 games this season, is ready to return.
