Bruins' Patrick Brown: Sent back to minors
Brown was sent to AHL Providence on Friday, Mark Divver of the New England Hockey Journal reports.
Brown was recalled by the Bruins on Wednesday, but he'll head back to the minors following a brief stint with the NHL club. However, the 32-year-old was one of several players sent down Friday in order to make them eligible for the AHL playoffs, so it's possible that Brown rejoins Boston soon. Brown has made three NHL appearances this season, recording seven hits, two PIM and two blocked shots while averaging 10:56 of ice time.

Bruins' Patrick Brown: Earns first point of campaign
Brown logged an assist, two shots on goal, three blocked shots and a plus-2 rating in Saturday's 4-0 win over the Lightning.
The helper was Brown's first point in four NHL appearances this season. He's added five shots on net, eight hits, five blocked shots and a plus-1 rating. The 32-year-old forward has been up and down between the NHL and AHL Providence a few times in the last week. He'll be eligible for Providence's AHL playoff roster after a paper demotion Friday, but Brown seems likely to get a look as the pending free agent auditions for an NHL spot for 2025-26 at the end of this season.

Brown has 16 goals and 44 points in 52 outings with AHL Providence in 2024-25. Although the 32-year-old is an offensive force in the minors, Brown shouldn't be expected to serve in more than a bottom-six capacity, if he plays for Boston at all. He has 10 goals and 25 points across 151 career regular-season appearances in the NHL.

Brown was a minus-1 in 12:42 of action Thursday in a 7-2 loss to Dallas. The 32-year-old had three goals and four assists in 12 appearances with Providence before his recall. The Bruins recalled Georgi Merkulov from the AHL in a corresponding move.

Brown was elevated from AHL Providence on Monday.
Brown's promotion comes as AHL Providence was eliminated from the Calder Cup playoffs Friday. As such, there is no guarantee the veteran center will get ice time even with the injury to Brad Marchand (upper body). Still, Brown does have 149 games of NHL experience under his belt, which should improve his chances of getting into the lineup if needed.
