Tarasov (knee) may not be ready for the start of the regular season, Aaron Portzline of The Athletic reports. The Blue Jackets were hoping Tarasov would be healthy enough to back up Elvis Merzlikins when games begin to count Oct. 12, but his uncertain status prompted the team to claim Spencer Martin off waivers from the Canucks. "We don't have a timeframe on Tarasov's injury right now; it's a work in progress," GM Jarmo Kekalainen said after making the claim. "We just wanted to make sure that we don't have to go into the season with not enough quality goaltenders who have experience and ability to play in the NHL." If Tarasov's absence does extend into the regular season, he could end up getting a rehab assignment at AHL Cleveland before rejoining the NHL roster.... See More ... See Less

Blue Jackets' Daniil Tarasov: Battling knee injury
Tarasov is dealing with a knee injury and is considered day-to-day, Aaron Portzline of The Athletic reports. Tarasov had a 4-11-1 record, 3.91 GAA and .892 save percentage in 17 contests with the Blue Jackets in 2022-23. Provided he's healthy, Tarasov will compete with Aaron Dell for Columbus' backup job.... See More ... See Less -
Blue Jackets' Daniil Tarasov: Returned to minors
Tarasov was reassigned to AHL Cleveland on Wednesday. Tarasov went 2-2-0 with a 6.09 GAA and .840 save percentage in four appearances during this recent NHL stint. The demotion of Tarasov likely indicates that Elvis Merzlikins (personal) will be rejoining the team ahead of Friday's matchup with the Islanders.... See More ... See Less -
Blue Jackets' Daniil Tarasov: Picks up OT win
Tarasov stopped 31 of 37 shots in Tuesday's 7-6 overtime win over the Capitals. Tarasov was shakey at times Tuesday, allowing six goals, including three in the first period. However, the Blue Jackets would rally to score three times in the third to tie the game before winning in overtime. The 23-year-old Tarasov improves to 4-11-1 with an .892 save percentage this season. He should continue to see the majority of starts in Columbus while Elvis Merzlikins (personal) remains unavailable.... See More ... See Less -
Blue Jackets' Daniil Tarasov: Guarding cage against Caps
Tarasov will be in goal versus Washington on the road Tuesday, Jeff Svoboda of the Blue Jackets' official site reports. Tarasov has played in three of the club's last four contests in which he posted a 1-2-0 record and 6.22 GAA. Despite giving up four or more goals in all three of his appearances, the Blue Jackets will continue to utilize the 23-year-old netminder ahead of Michael Hutchinson while Elvis Merzlikins (personal) is away from the team.... Blue Jackets' Daniil Tarasov: Gets hook in Sunday's loss
Tarasov stopped 24 of 29 shots before being replaced by Michael Hutchinson late in the second period of Sunday's 7-2 loss to the Golden Knights. The second frame was a disaster for Columbus, as Vegas scored four goals in just over six minutes to drive Tarasov from the crease, although the collapse was a total team effort. The Blue Jackets have the fewest points in the league and are angling to have the best odds of landing Connor Bedard in the 2023 NHL Draft. They haven't given Tarasov much help since his latest promotion -- the 23-year-old netminder is 1-3-0 in four appearances with a 4.94 GAA and .862 save percentage in that span.... See More ... Blue Jackets' Daniil Tarasov: Struggles in overtime win
Tarasov allowed five goals on 32 shots in Tuesday's 6-5 overtime win over the Sharks. Tarasov made his first NHL appearance since Jan. 17, and it wasn't a pretty one. The Sharks rallied from two goals down in the third period to force overtime, but Johnny Gaudreau capped off a five-point night in the extra session. Tarasov is up to 3-9-1 with a 3.40 GAA and a .903 save percentage through 14 NHL outings this season. Both he and Michael Hutchinson will likely get one of the next two games -- the Blue Jackets face the Kings on Thursday and the Ducks on Friday.... See More ... See Less -

Tarasov has a 2-9-1 record with a 3.28 GAA and a .908 save percentage in 13 appearances with the Blue Jackets this season. His last NHL start was a 26-save effort in a 2-1 loss to Nashville on Jan. 17. Tarasov was brought up from AHL Cleveland on Friday due to the absence of Elvis Merzlikins (personal). The Sharks sit 24th in the league this campaign with 2.87 goals per game.... See More ... See Less -
Blue Jackets' Daniil Tarasov: Up with Columbus
Tarasov was called up Friday by Columbus on an emergency basis. Tarasov has a 2-9-1 record, 3.28 GAA and .908 save percentage in 13 games with Columbus this season. He's also posted a 4.07 GAA and an .871 save percentage in nine AHL contests with Cleveland in 2022-23. Tarasov was summoned because Elvis Merzlikins (personal) has returned to Latvia to be with family. Michael Hutchinson and Tarasov are projected to share the goaltending duties while Merzlikins is gone.... See More ... See Less -
Blue Jackets' Daniil Tarasov: Assigned to AHL affiliate
Tarasov was reassigned to AHL Cleveland on Friday. Tarasov has missed 10 of the last 12 games due to an upper-body injury -- he'll head to the minors to serve as Cleveland's featured netminder rather than split time with Elvis Merzlikins and Joonas Korpisalo with the big club. Tarasov's gone 2-9-1 while posting a 3.28 GAA and a .908 save percentage through 13 top-level appearances this season.... See More ... See Less -

He will get the second half of the team's back-to-back after Elvis Merzlikins played in Monday's 3-1 loss to the Rangers.... See More ... See Less -
Blue Jackets' Daniil Tarasov: Removed from IR
Tarasov (upper body) was activated from injured reserve Saturday, Blue Jackets team reporter Jeff Svoboda reports. Tarasov has a 2-8-1 record with the Blue Jackets this season to go along with a 3.40 GAA and a .907 save percentage. He will back up Elvis Merzlikins on Saturday against Detroit because Joonas Korpisalo (personal) is unavailable.... See More ... See Less -
Blue Jackets' Daniil Tarasov: Added to injured reserve list
Tarasov (upper body) was placed on the injured reserve list by Columbus on Tuesday. Tarasov sustained the injury Dec. 30 while practicing, and his move to the injured reserve list can be retroactive to that date. What that means is Tarasov can be activated whenever he is healthy. For Tuesday's game against Tampa Bay though, Elvis Merzlikins is expected to start in net while Jet Greaves, who was called up from AHL Cleveland, will serve as the backup. Joonas Korpisalo is unavailable for personal reasons.... See More ... See Less -
Blue Jackets' Daniil Tarasov: Still out Thursday
Tarasov (upper body) remains unavailable for Thursday's game versus the Capitals, Brian Hedger of The Columbus Dispatch reports. Tarasov sustained an injury last Friday and is still not ready to suit up. The 23-year-old may still be a healthy scratch once he's healthy, or he could ultimately be reassigned to AHL Cleveland.... The 23-year-old will face the Blackhawks, who are the NHL's lowest scoring team, scoring only 70 goals in 31 contests.... See More ... See Less -
Blue Jackets' Daniil Tarasov: Downed by Flyers
Tarasov turned aside 34 of 38 shots in Tuesday's 5-3 loss to the Flyers. Philadelphia's final tally was scored into an empty net. Tarasov has started four straight games and lost all four, but the 23-year-old netminder's 3.07 GAA and .913 save percentage during that stretch suggest the Blue Jackets' poor defense is more to blame than he is. With Joonas Korpisalo (lower body) on IR and Elvis Merzlikins (illness) fighting the puck when he's been healthy, Tarasov has become the de facto No. 1 goalie for Columbus.... See More ... See Less
