Andersen inked a two-year, $6.8 million pact with Carolina on Saturday, Pierre LeBrun of TSN reports. Andersen was reportedly set to land elsewhere but was able to finalize a deal to remain in Carolina. The club also re-signed Antti Raanta on Saturday, so fantasy players should expect the duo to split the workload heading into the 2023-24 campaign.... See More ... See Less

Hurricanes' Frederik Andersen: Can't prevent sweep
Andersen turned aside 20 of 24 shots in a 4-3 loss to Florida in Game 4 on Wednesday. Carolina lost Andersen's previous two starts despite him stopping 73 of 77 shots over that span. In contrast, the Hurricanes were able to provide him with decent offensive support Wednesday, but that didn't change the result. Andersen was beaten twice in the first period and surrendered a goal in each of the second and third frames. With Carolina eliminated from contention, the goaltender has finished the playoffs with a 5-3 record, 1.83 GAA and .927 save percentage in nine appearances.... See More ... See Less -
Hurricanes' Frederik Andersen: Looking to avoid elimination
Andersen will start on the road in Wednesday's Game 4 versus the Panthers, Tom Gulitti of NHL.com reports. Andersen has allowed just four goals on 77 shots in two appearances during the Eastern Conference Finals, but he's ended up with a loss in both of those games. He'll get the chance to help the Hurricanes avoid elimination Wednesday, as the Panthers are looking to sweep the series.... See More ... See Less -
Hurricanes' Frederik Andersen: Allows just one goal, but loses
Andersen stopped 16 of 17 shots in a 1-0 loss to Florida in Game 3 on Monday. The only goal Andersen allowed was scored during a Panthers power play. Between him and Antti Raanta, who started in Game 2 of the Eastern Conference Finals, Carolina's goaltenders have surrendered just six goals on 103 shots in this series, but the Hurricanes' forwards have gone cold. Carolina now finds itself down 3-0 with Game 4 set to be played Wednesday. It wouldn't be surprising if Andersen started in the must-win contest, especially because Hurricanes coach Rod Brind'Amour's probable motivation for using Raanta in Game 2 was to rest Andersen after Thursday's quadruple-overtime contest. Fatigue shouldn't be a concern after the relatively light workload during Monday's outing. Andersen has a strong track record too, going 5-2 with a 1.58 GAA and a .937 save percentage in eight playoff appearances this year.... See More ... See Less -
Hurricanes' Frederik Andersen: Tending twine Monday
Andersen will guard the road goal in Game 3 against Florida on Monday, Chip Alexander of The Raleigh News & Observer reports. Andersen stopped 57 shots in Thursday's 3-2 quadruple-overtime loss to the Panthers. He has a 5-1 record this postseason in seven starts, having surrendered just 13 goals on 204 shots. Florida has posted 3.21 goals per game during the 2023 playoffs.... See More ... See Less -
Hurricanes' Frederik Andersen: Falls short in 4OT game
Andersen stopped 57 of 60 shots in Thursday's 3-2 quadruple-overtime loss to the Panthers in Game 1. Andersen gave up a couple of goals to the Panthers' top line in the second period. He settled in for over 100 minutes of playing time before a late turnover in the fourth overtime led to Matthew Tkachuk's game-winning tally. This was the first time Andersen's been charged with a loss this postseason, and just the third time in seven outings he's given up multiple goals. Assuming he recovers well from the marathon game, he should be back in net for Game 2 on Saturday.... See More ... See Less -
Hurricanes' Frederik Andersen: Starting Game 1
Andersen will guard the home goal versus the Panthers in Game 1 of the Eastern Conference Finals on Thursday, Walt Ruff of the Hurricanes' official site reports. Andersen regained the starting job in the second round, posting a 2.01 GAA and a .918 save percentage in a 4-1 series win over the Devils. He'll now get a chance to take on the Panthers after facing them only once in the regular season, which came in the Hurricanes' last game of the campaign. He stopped 30 of 34 shots in that contest.... See More ... See Less -
Hurricanes' Frederik Andersen: Stops 27 in series-clincher
Andersen stopped 27 of 29 shots to grab a series-clinching 3-2 overtime win over the Devils on Thursday. Andersen has seen action in just six games this postseason, but managers have to like how he responded to the lowest point of the playoffs. He allowed four goals on 12 shots in Game 3. Yet he responded by stopping 21 of 22 in Game 4 and 27 of 29 in Game 5. It bodes well for his ability to be resilient as the 'Canes move on to the conference finals.... See More ... See Less -
Hurricanes' Frederik Andersen: Slated to face Devils
Andersen is set to start at home against New Jersey in Game 5 on Thursday, per Tom Gulitti of NHL.com. Antti Raanta (illness) is ready to return to the lineup, but he's slated to serve as the backup Thursday. That makes sense given that Andersen has been very effective in the second round, posting a 2.09 GAA and a .914 save percentage in four outings. The Devils have averaged 2.55 goals per game in the 2023 playoffs.... See More ... See Less -
Hurricanes' Frederik Andersen: Saves 21 shots in win
Andersen turned aside 21 of 22 shots in a 6-1 win over New Jersey in Game 4 on Tuesday. After allowing four goals on 12 shots before being pulled Sunday, this was an ideal bounce-back contest for Andersen. He was beaten by Jack Hughes early in the first period, but he was flawless after that. Andersen has a 4-0 record, 1.80 GAA and .930 save percentage in five playoff outings this year.... See More ... Hurricanes' Frederik Andersen: Looking to bounce back Tuesday
Andersen will guard the road goal in Tuesday's Game 4 versus the Devils, Mike Morreale of NHL.com reports. Andersen had won three straight games before he gave up four goals on 12 shots in an ugly Game 3 performance. The 33-year-old will look to bounce back Tuesday, especially with Antti Raanta (illness) still unavailable.... See More ... See Less -
Hurricanes' Frederik Andersen: Pulled in Game 3 loss
Andersen allowed four goals on 12 shots before being pulled from Sunday's 8-4 Game 3 loss to the Devils. Andersen allowed three goals in the first period and another early in the second before he was replaced by Pyotr Kochetkov 53 seconds into the middle frame. The 33-year-old Andersen had won his first three postseason starts before Sunday's letdown, allowing just three goals in that span. He was spared the loss after Carolina scored four goals between the second and third periods. Andersen is 3-0-0 with a .925 save percentage in four postseason starts.... See More ... See Less -
Hurricanes' Frederik Andersen: Starting in New Jersey
Andersen will guard the road goal in Game 3 against New Jersey on Sunday, Cory Lavalette of the North State Journal reports. Andersen is coming off a 28-save performance in Friday's 6-1 win over the Devils. He has gone 3-0 this postseason, having allowed just three goals on 81 shots. The Devils rank 15th in the playoffs this year with 28.1 shots per game.... See More ... See Less -
Hurricanes' Frederik Andersen: Stays dominant Friday
Andersen saved 28 of 29 shots in a 6-1 win over New Jersey in Game 2 on Friday. Andersen didn't allow a goal until early in the third period, and Carolina still had a commanding 4-1 lead after that marker. Since taking over the starting duties in Game 6 of Carolina's first-round series, Andersen has been dominant, posting a 3-0 record, 0.97 GAA and .963 save percentage. Although it hasn't been confirmed, it's fair to believe that he'll be in net Sunday.... See More ... See Less -
Hurricanes' Frederik Andersen: Set to face Devils
Andersen is expected to start at home against New Jersey in Game 2 on Friday. Andersen saved 17 of 18 shots in Carolina's 5-1 victory over the Devils in the series opener. That brought him up to 2-0 in the playoffs, during which he's allowed just two goals on 52 shots. New Jersey has averaged 2.25 goals per game in the postseason.... See More ... See Less -
Hurricanes' Frederik Andersen: Smooth sailing in Game 1
Andersen stopped 17 of 18 shots in Wednesday's 5-1 Game 1 win over the Devils. Andersen was spotted a 3-0 lead and the Hurricanes cruised to a Game 1 win in the second round while limiting the opportunities against their goalie. The Dane's likely to start Game 2 on Friday after allowing just one goal in each of his first two appearances this postseason.... See More ... See Less -
Hurricanes' Frederik Andersen: Tending twine for Game 1
Andersen will guard the home goal versus the Devils in Game 1 on Wednesday, Chip Alexander of The Raleigh News & Observer reports. Andersen got the nod in Game 6 versus the Islanders and allowed just one goal on 34 shots in a 2-1 overtime win to push the Hurricanes into the second round. It appears he may have won the starting job back from Antti Raanta, at least for now. Andersen didn't face the Devils during the regular season.... See More ... See Less -
Hurricanes' Frederik Andersen: Sharp in clinching win
Andersen made 33 saves in Friday's 2-1 overtime win over the Islanders in Game 6 of the Hurricanes' first-round series. Antti Raanta got the nod in the first five games of the series, but after Raanta posted a 2.98 GAA and .894 save percentage in his last four starts, Andersen saw his first action since April 13 and responded with a strong performance to send his team into the second round. Coach Rod Brind'Amour could now have a tough choice to make in net, but he'll have a few days to think about it as the Hurricanes await the winner of the Devils-Rangers series.... See More ... Hurricanes' Frederik Andersen: Expected to face Islanders
Andersen is expected to start on the road in Game 6 against the Islanders on Friday. Andersen is making his first start of the 2023 playoffs after Antti Raanta allowed 12 goals on 113 shots over the last four contests. Andersen had a 21-11-1 record, 2.48 GAA and .903 save percentage in 34 regular-season outings. The Islanders have averaged 2.80 goals per game in the first-round series.... See More ... See Less -
Hurricanes' Frederik Andersen: Expected back Tuesday
Andersen (undisclosed) is set to return to the lineup for Game 5 against the Islanders on Tuesday, Walt Ruff of the Hurricanes' official site reports. Andersen will likely be forced to accept a backup role behind Antti Raanta, who has helped give the Hurricanes a 3-1 series lead heading into Tuesday's matchup. At this point, it would likely take a stumble or two by Raanta to afford Andersen the opportunity to get into a playoff contest.... See More ... See Less
