  • Panthers' Jonathan Mingo: Bumps down the depth chart

With the Panthers' selection of Xavier Legette with the No. 32 overall pick Thursday night, Mingo is pushed down the wide receiver depth chart, Joe Person of The Athletic reports. Carolina has made it a point to upgrade its wideout room this offseason, first trading for Diontae Johnson before then trading up into the final pick of the first round for Legette. Adding those two to veteran slot man Adam Thielen pushes both Mingo and Terrace Marshall down in the pecking order for targets. Mingo -- who is bouncing back from a late-season foot issue -- started 14 of 15 games he appeared in as a rookie, but he posted an uninspiring 43-418-0 receiving line on 85 targets. He was one of the least productive starting receivers in the league in 2023.

  • Panthers' Jonathan Mingo: Moves to IR, ending his season

The Panthers placed Mingo on injured reserve Tuesday due to a foot injury, Darin Gantt of the team's official site reports. Mingo sat out Week 4 with a concussion, but he otherwise played in each of the Panthers' other 15 games, compiling a 43-418-0 line on 85 targets. The rookie second-round pick wasn't able to develop a consistent rapport with 2023 first overall pick Bryce Young, and the duo will have to wait until the offseason program begins to continue developing their chemistry.

  • Panthers' Jonathan Mingo: No yards Sunday

Mingo caught two of three targets but totaled zero yards in Sunday's 26-0 loss to the Jaguars. Mingo has now gone for under 10 yards in consecutive games. That dry spell hurts his stock ahead of Sunday's season finale versus the Buccaneers, but the rookie did manage a career-best six catches for 69 yards against Tampa Bay earlier in the campaign.

  • Panthers' Jonathan Mingo: Just 22 yards on nine targets

Mingo caught two of nine targets for 22 yards in Sunday's 28-6 loss to the Saints. Mingo led the Panthers in targets but didn't do much with the volume, though much of the blame lies with quarterback Bryce Young's inaccuracy. Young's frequent misfires included a deep ball on which Mingo got behind the coverage for what should have been a long touchdown late in the first half. Mingo has at least six targets in each of the last five games, but the 2023 second-round draft pick is still searching for his first NFL touchdown heading into a Week 15 clash with the Falcons.

  • Panthers' Jonathan Mingo: Sleeper WRs

Mingo could be a sneaky No. 3 Fantasy receiver in deeper leagues for Week 14 against the Saints, who have struggled recently against opposing receivers. In their past five games, the Saints have allowed five receivers to score at least 12.9 PPR points. Adam Thielen, despite his recent struggles, is still the safer Panthers receiver to trust. But Mingo has picked up his play of late with at least six targets in four games in a row, including 10 targets in Week 13 at Tampa Bay when he finished with six catches for 69 yards. Bryce Young is developing a rapport with Mingo, and that could pay off in a big way to close the season.

  • Panthers' Jonathan Mingo: Week 14 Adds (WR Preview)

Mingo saw a season-high 10 targets in the Panthers first game since their coaching change. It was his fourth straight game with at least six targets and his second game in a row with double-digit PPR Fantasy points. He has top 24 upside in this role, but he'll have to get into the end zone to make that happen, which he hasn't done yet.

  • Panthers' Jonathan Mingo: Career-best performance Sunday

Mingo caught six of 10 targets for 69 yards in Sunday's 21-18 loss to the Buccaneers. The rookie wideout was the Panthers' leading receiver as he reached 60 yards for the third time in the last six games while setting new career highs in catches and targets. Mingo's been far from consistent -- in the other three games over that stretch, he managed just five catches for 31 yards total -- but it's encouraging that he saw significant volume in interim head coach Chris Tabor's first game in charge. Mingo's value appears to be on the upswing heading into a Week 14 clash with the Saints.

  • Panthers' Jonathan Mingo: Week 14 Early Waiver Targets (Add/Drop)

I've been pretty skeptical about Mingo since the Panthers took him in the second round – how many successful wide receivers never led their college team in receiving (especially when they mostly didn't play with other NFL-caliber players)? – but it's hard to ignore his usage in the first game after Frank Reich's firing. The Panthers made a point of getting Mingo involved early and often Sunday against the Buccaneers, and it resulted in him putting together the best game of his young career. The Panthers seem to de-emphasizing Adam Thielen, and with little to play for beyond the development of their young players, hopefully, they'll continue to prioritize Mingo, who has some upside down the stretch.

  • Panthers' Jonathan Mingo: Cleared for Sunday

Mingo (Achilles) doesn't have an injury designation for Sunday's game against the Buccaneers. Mingo was added to the injury report Thursday as a limited participant with what now appears to be a minor Achilles issue. He returned to full participation Friday and figures to occupy his usual role as a starting wide receiver, hoping to build on the modest success of his 4-60-0 receiving line from Week 12 amidst what's otherwise been an unproductive and inefficient rookie season.

  • Panthers' Jonathan Mingo: Paces Carolina's pass catchers

Mingo recorded four receptions on six targets for 60 yards in Sunday's 17-10 loss to the Titans. Mingo had one of his more productive games of the season, with the majority of his yardage coming on long receptions of 24 and 22 yards. That doubled his reception total of more than 20 yards this season, and it also was the second time in his last five contests that he's reached 60 yards. Mingo may find it difficult to produce consistently given the quarterback play in Carolina, but he seems to be taking positive steps in the second half of his rookie campaign.

  • Panthers' Jonathan Mingo: Helps fill in for Chark in loss

Mingo brought in three of seven targets for 20 yards in the Panthers' 16-13 loss to the Bears on Thursday night. With DJ Chark (elbow) sidelined, Mingo saw his highest target count since Week 5 but was unable to do much with the opportunity. Bryce Young's struggles under center are helping cap the upside of all Panthers pass catchers, and Mingo could be back to a reserve role in a difficult Week 11 home matchup against the Cowboys since Chark will have some extra time to recover before that contest.

  • Panthers' Jonathan Mingo: Two catches in Week 6 loss

Mingo caught two of three targets for 21 yards in Sunday's 42-21 loss to the Dolphins. Mingo's production was similar to DJ Chark's three catches for 26 yards, while No. 1 wideout Adam Thielen comfortably led the Panthers with 11 grabs for 115 yards and a touchdown. Carolina has a Week 7 bye, but Mingo is unlikely to come out the other side with a larger role in the team's lackluster passing attack.

  • Panthers' Jonathan Mingo: Makes five grabs

Mingo caught five of seven targets for 48 yards in Sunday's 42-24 loss to the Lions. Mingo trailed only top wideout Adam Thielen in receptions, targets and yards through the air. Although Thielen and No. 2 receiver DJ Chark both scored touchdowns Sunday, it was still Mingo's most productive performance as a pro. With a Week 6 matchup that could very well see the Panthers fall behind the Dolphins, Mingo may be in store for more passing situations next weekend.

  • Panthers' Jonathan Mingo: Avoids injury report

Mingo (concussion) wasn't listed on the Panthers' first Week 5 injury report Wednesday. Mingo sustained a concussion during a Week 3 loss at Seattle and proceeded to be listed as a limited participant on all three practice reports last week. Darin Gantt of the Panthers' official site relayed Sunday that Mingo officially cleared the concussion protocol, but the rookie wide receiver was inactive against the Vikings because he didn't log a full session prior to the contest. Now that he's able to take part in all on-field work to begin Week 5 prep, Mingo will return as a regular contributor to Carolina's offense for this Sunday's game in Detroit.

  • Panthers' Jonathan Mingo: Not cleared to play Week 4

Mingo (concussion) is inactive for Sunday's game against the Vikings, Darin Gantt of the Panthers' official site reports. According to Gantt, Mingo has cleared the NFL's five-step concussion protocol, but because he was only a limited participant in practice this week, the Panthers won't have him suit up Sunday. The rookie wideout should be back in action for the Panthers' Week 5 matchup at Detroit, but his absence Sunday should open up the No. 3 receiver spot for Terrace Marshall.

  • Panthers' Jonathan Mingo: Limited in practice again

Mingo (concussion) was a limited participant in Thursday's practice. Mingo's limited participation represents no change from Wednesday, suggesting he hasn't taken a tangible step forward in the past 24 hours as he navigates the NFL's five-step concussion protocol. If the wideout practices fully Friday and is able to gain clearance from an independent neurologist, he should exit the protocol and have a good shot at playing Sunday versus the Vikings.

  • Panthers' Jonathan Mingo: Not practicing Wednesday

Mingo (concussion) won't practice Wednesday, Steve Reed of the Associated Press reports. Mingo left Sunday's loss in Seattle with a concussion, and the rookie wide receiver will need to pass the NFL's five-step concussion protocol to have a chance to suit up against the Vikings in Week 4. Veterans Adam Thielen and DJ Chark already occupy the top two spots on Carolina's wide receiver depth chart, but more opportunities could be available for Terrace Marshall and Laviska Shenault against the Vikings if Mingo ends up being inactive for the contest.

  • Panthers' Jonathan Mingo: High target count

Mingo caught three of eight targets for 26 yards in Monday night's 20-17 loss to the Saints. Mingo had a catch of 22 yards, marking Carolina's longest passing play of the game. Although he hardly gained any yardage on his other two grabs, Mingo's eight targets trailed only Adam Thielen among Panthers pass-catchers. That share of looks came despite No. 2 wideout DJ Chark making his season debut, which should boost optimism over Mingo's usage as his rookie campaign progresses.

  • Panthers' Jonathan Mingo: Week 1 Waiver Priority List

Adam Thielen will likely be the No. 1 receiver for the Panthers this season, but Mingo is definitely worth targeting with a late-round pick in all leagues. And he's someone to add with 1 percent of your remaining FAB. D.J. Chark (hamstring) is already hurt, and Mingo will hopefully develop a quick rapport with fellow rookie Bryce Young. You'll have to be patient with Mingo early in the season, but he could become a quality playmaker as the year goes on.

  • Panthers' Jonathan Mingo: Catches one pass

Mingo caught one of two targets for 14 yards in Friday's preseason game against Detroit. Adam Thielen went for 4-48-1 on five targets, with Mingo being the only other player to see more than one look from QB Bryce Young on the first-team offense's two drives. The rookie wideout appeared to play nearly all the snaps with the starters, which perhaps isn't surprising given the absences of DJ Chark (hamstring), Terrace Marshall (back) and Laviska Shenault (concussion). The previous preseason usage suggests Mingo would have a top-three role even with everyone healthy, though perhaps as the No. 3 behind Thielen and Chark. Expect Mingo to get plenty of playing time Week 1 at Atlanta, even if Chark is back in the lineup.
