  • Buccaneers' SirVocea Dennis: Hopeful for Week 1

    Head coach Todd Bowles noted Sunday that he is "hopeful" that Dennis (undisclosed) will be available for the Bucs' season opener against the Vikings on Sept. 10, Rick Stroud of the Tampa Bay Times reports. Dennis missed all practices last week after sitting out of the Bucs' 13-6 win over the Jets on Aug. 19. Once healthy, Dennis should play a key rotational role at linebacker alongside Devin White, Lavonte David and Shaquil Barrett.

    The Buccaneers selected Dennis in the fifth round of the 2023 NFL Draft, 153rd overall. Dennis had a productive career at Pitt, piling up 36 tackles for loss and 15 sacks in his final three seasons. Even with that work on the defensive side of the ball, he also played a regular role on special teams. Dennis will likely start his NFL career in the latter role, though his playmaking ability could ultimately land him a more consistent job at inside linebacker.
