Tayler Hawkins: Needs season-ending wrist surgery
The 49ers placed Hawks on the practice-squad injured list Wednesday due to a wrist injury that will require season-ending surgery, David Lombardi of The Athletic reports.
The San Diego State product also began the campaign on injured reserve due to a fractured hand, though the 49ers eventually brought him back after the sides reached an injury settlement. Hawkins got into his first NFL game Week 18 against the Rams, logging four tackles (three solo) along with an interception in that contest.

Tayler Hawkins: Headed to Bay Area
The 49ers signed Hawkins (hand) to their practice squad Tuesday.
The 25-year-old was waived with an injury settlement after he broke his hand during San Francisco's preseason finale, but it now seems as if he's had enough time to move past the issue. Hawkins spent all of 2022 on the 49ers' practice squad, and he's agreed to return now that he's healthy once again. In a corresponding move, San Francisco cut safety Tre Norwood from its practice squad.

The 49ers waived Hawkins (hand) from IR with an injury settlement Wednesday, Matt Maiocco of NBC Sports Bay Area reports.
Hawkins will now be free to search for an opportunity elsewhere in the league when healthy. He suffered a hand fracture during San Francisco's preseason finale.

49ers' Tayler Hawkins: Headed to IR
The 49ers placed Hawkins (hand) on injured reserve Tuesday, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
Hawkins fractured his hand in Friday's preseason game against the Chargers and Jennifer Lee Chan of NBC Sports Bay Area said Saturday that he will need surgery. Hawkins is now slated to miss the 2023 season unless he reaches an injury settlement with the team.

The 25-year-old will be forced to miss time after finding out the severity of his hand injury. Hawkins spent last year on the 49ers' practice squad and after this surgery, he could very well end up there again ahead of the coming season.

Hawkins will not return to Friday's preseason game after suffering a hand injury.
The San Diego State product went undrafted in 2021 before getting picked up by the 49ers and making their practice squad in 2022. Now, Hawkins is fighting for a chance to make the team's active roster ahead of the coming season, but this hand issue most likely hurts his chances. The extent of the young safety's injury is unknown at the moment.
