Benson Mayowa: Let go by Seattle
The Seahawks released Mayowa on Wednesday, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports.
Mayowa recorded six sacks during his first year with Seattle in 2020 and was re-signed on a two-year, $8.8 million deal a year ago. His production took a step back in his second season with Seattle, however, as he finished 2021 with 30 total tackles and one sack in 15 games. The 30-year-old has played with four different organizations over the past five years and is now in search of a new team once again.

Seahawks' Benson Mayowa: Inks two-year pact
Mayowa signed a two-year contract worth up to $8.8 million with the Seahawks on Tuesday, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
Mayowa finished third on the Seahawks with six sacks in 2021, so he'll return to the team for an encore. The 29-year-old's playing time tapered off a bit toward the end of the season, but he still started in nine of his 13 appearances. The Seahawks also signed Kerry Hyder to a three-year, $16.5 million contract Tuesday, so Mayowa will need to beat out L.J. Collier (ankle) and possibly Alton Robinson for a starting job in 2021.

Seahawks' Benson Mayowa: Rings up six sacks in 2020
Mayowa posted 24 tackles, six sacks, three pass breakups and two forced fumbles over 13 regular-season games in the 2020 season.
Mayowa was an immediate boost to the Seahawks' pass rush, as he finished third on the team with six sacks and led the team with 14 quarterback hits. Despite missing three games, Mayowa logged a career-high 571 snaps on defense. He'll turn 30 years old in training camp next season, and it remains to be seen if he'll be re-signed. The Seahawks could also lose Carlos Dunlap in free agency, so they may need to keep Mayowa around if they're not comfortable with Rasheem Green, L.J. Collier and Alton Robinson taking on larger roles.
