Player Outlook
Robinson was traded from the Rams to the Steelers in the offseason and it's very difficult to see how that is going to stop the steep downward curve of Robinson's production. Before the 2021 season, Robinson had never delivered less than 1.33 yards per route run. In 2021 with Chicago, that number fell to 1.14 before cratering to 0.93 last year. Robinson has missed 12 games over the past two seasons and has been one of the least efficient wide receivers in the NFL when he was active. We understand if you want to take one more chance on Robinson regaining form, but we wouldn't do it before Round 15 in any format.

  • Steelers' Allen Robinson: Little production on four catches

Robinson caught all four of his targets for 24 yards in Sunday's 23-18 win over the Raiders. Robinson doubled his production from a week ago, but it still resulted in an unsavory fantasy line. The 30-year-old has struggled to fit in with a developing Pittsburgh offense, even with Diontae Johnson (hamstring) getting hurt in Week 1. Since Johnson landed on IR, Robinson has seen roughly equal snap counts to second-year wideout Calvin Austin, but the latter has been more productive and scored a 72-yard touchdown in Sunday's win. Robinson should be considered a low-end fantasy play against Houston in Week 4.

  • Steelers' Allen Robinson: Quiet in elevated role

Robinson finished with two receptions (on three targets) for 12 yards in Monday's 26-22 win over the Browns. Robinson got the start alongside George Pickens (4-127-1) after Diontae Johnson (hamstring) was placed on IR this week. The veteran wideout wound up seeing his targets and production decrease compared to last week's five-catch, 64-yard performance as the No. 3 receiver. The Steelers' schedule softens up after facing two of the league's top pass defenses, so Robinson could experience more success against the Raiders on Sunday.

  • Steelers' Allen Robinson: Takes on key role with Johnson out

Robinson could play a larger role Monday against the Browns and for the next few games with Diontae Johnson (hamstring) expected to miss multiple weeks, Brooke Pryor of ESPN.com reports. Robinson led the Steelers with 64 receiving yards in his team debut against the 49ers last weekend, while Johnson hurt his hamstring in that same game. The Steelers don't have much established depth at receiver behind George Pickens and Robinson, who has three 1,000-yard seasons in his career but had just 749 yards over the previous two campaigns combined.

  • Steelers' Allen Robinson: Week 2 Waiver Priority List

The Steelers won't have Diontae Johnson (hamstring) for multiple weeks, according to ESPN, which means Robinson and Calvin Austin III are now being thrust into prominent roles for the Steelers. Robinson had five catches for 64 yards on eight targets against the 49ers in Week 1, and we'll see if he can turn back the clock now as a starter in Pittsburgh. I don't have much faith, but in deeper leagues you can add Robinson for 1 percent of your remaining FAB.

  • Steelers' Allen Robinson: Leads team in receiving yards

Robinson secured five of eight targets for 64 yards during the Steelers' 30-7 loss to San Francisco on Sunday. Robinson was held in check during the preseason, but he impressed during his regular-season debut with the Steelers. He racked up 53 receiving yards in the fourth quarter after Diontae Johnson (hamstring) was ruled out for the remainder of the game, so Robinson's role in Week 2 will likely depend on Johnson's availability. However, it was an encouraging start to the season for the 30-year-old following back-to-back disappointing campaigns with the Bears and Rams.

  • Steelers' Allen Robinson: Exclusively playing with starters

Robinson caught his lone target for a two-yard gain in Thursday's preseason game at Atlanta. Robinson exclusively worked with the first-team offense this preseason, accounting for three of 15 targets from QB Kenny Pickett and ultimately catching two for 12 yards. Pickett had more luck throwing to returning starters Diontae Johnson, George Pickens and Pat Freiermuth, which isn't exactly a surprise given the expectation of those three being the team's top pass catchers. Robinson will try to prove he has enough left in the tank to be a helpful complementary option, starting with a Week 1 home game against San Francisco.

  • Steelers' Allen Robinson: One catch against Buffalo

Robinson secured one of two targets for 10 yards during Saturday's 27-15 preseason win over the Bills. Robinson wasn't targeted during last weekend's preseason opener, but he saw more work Saturday despite playing just five snaps. He worked alongside the starters once again Saturday and seems like a solid option to serve as the team's starting slot receiver once the regular season gets underway.

  • Steelers' Allen Robinson: Not targeted in preseason opener

Robinson wasn't targeted during Friday's 27-17 preseason win over the Buccaneers. Robinson worked with the starters during Friday's matchup but wasn't targeted during his first game action with his new club. However, all three of Pittsburgh's top receivers played under 10 snaps, so there weren't many targets to go around early in the game. Robinson has been working from the slot during training camp, and it wouldn't be surprising to see him operate with the starting offense early in the regular season.

  • Steelers' Allen Robinson: Taking reps from slot

Robinson (foot) worked from the slot with the starting offense on the first day of training camp, Brian Batko of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports. Robinson has moved past last year's season-ending foot injury and is expected to have a role with the starting offense, though perhaps only as the third receiver behind Diontae Johnson and George Pickens. The soon-to-be 30-year-old has plenty of experience playing both outside and from the slot, so the Steelers can also put him on the perimeter at times while using Johnson and/or a TE from the slot. As much as a rebound to mainstream fantasy relevance is unlikely at this point, it wouldn't be shocking if Robinson proves to be a real-life upgrade on the players Pittsburgh rotated through the No. 3 WR role last year.

  • Steelers' Allen Robinson: Participating in team drills

Robinson (foot) has been participating in 11-on-11 drills over the past week, Chris Adamski of the TribLIVE reports. Robinson was limited to start OTAs while rehabbing from surgery to repair a broken foot, but he continues to make progress and remains on track to be 100 percent by training camp. Adamski notes that Robinson has been working primarily out of the slot with the first-team offense, as Diontae Johnson and George Pickens operate on the outside.

  • Steelers' Allen Robinson: Limited at OTAs

Robinson (foot) has been limited at OTAs this week, Chris Adamski of TribLIVE.com reports. Robinson is still working his way back from surgery to repair a broken foot and expects to be 100 percent for the start of training camp later this summer. He's been participating in on-field work this week, but the veteran wideout is taking things slow. Notably, Robinson has been working as the slot receiver with the first-team offense. Diontae Johnson and George Pickens have remained on the outside.

  • Steelers' Allen Robinson: Contract reworked

As part of the deal slated to send him to the Steelers, Robinson's contract has been re-worked, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports. Per the report, this coming season the Rams are in line to pay the wideout $10 million, while the Steelers will give him a $3.8 million signing bonus and base salary of $1.2 million. Then in 2024, Robinson is on track to earn a $10 million base salary, down from $15 million. The deal makes his cap hit more palatable for Pittsburgh and is also an indication of his underwhelming production across the last two seasons. Robinson will be in search of a rebound campaign in 2023, but he'll have to compete directly with Diontae Johnson and George Pickens for targets.

  • Steelers' Allen Robinson: Passes physical to complete trade

Robinson (foot) passed his physical with the Steelers on Wednesday, making his acquisition from the Rams official, Dianna Russini of ESPN reports. Per Brooke Pryor of ESPN.com, the Steelers are sending a seventh-round draft pick (No. 234 overall) to the Rams in exchange for Robinson and a seventh-round choice (No. 251 overall). Under the terms of the deal, Los Angeles is slated to pay $10.25 million of Robinson's $15.25 million guaranteed salary for the coming season, while Pittsburgh will pay the remaining $5 million. In his new locale, Robinson will provide depth, versatility and experience to a wideout corps that features Diontae Johnson and George Pickens. On the heels of logging 33 catches for 339 yards and three touchdowns over 10 games during his lone season with the Rams, Robinson has some bounce-back potential in 2023 if he can prove that he's fully past the stress fracture in his foot that landed him on injured reserve last November.

  • Steelers' Allen Robinson: Flipped to Steelers in pick swap

The Steelers have agreed to acquire Robinson (foot) and the No. 251 overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft from the Rams in exchange for the No. 234 overall pick in this year's NFL Draft, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports. Robinson is on his way to Pittsburgh on Tuesday afternoon and will take his physical Wednesday. In order to facilitate the deal, the Rams are paying $10.25 million of the wide receiver's 2023 salary, while the Steelers cover the remaining $5 million. With Pittsburgh, Robinson figures to be kicking inside to the slot while Diontae Johnson and George Pickens remain on the outside. Robinson had a miserable 2022 with the Rams, showing little chemistry with Matthew Stafford after Stafford sat out much of the offseason program resting his elbow. Robinson turns 30 in August and shouldn't be counted on to return meaningful fantasy numbers in Pittsburgh, as Kenny Pickett doesn't figure to be any kind of upgrade at quarterback, but there's no direction to go but up following a 2022 that ended prematurely with a broken foot in Week 11. Robinson should be recovered in time for a normal training camp.

  • Rams' Allen Robinson: Could be traded to Steelers

The Steelers are bringing Robinson (foot) in for a physical and if no red flags are discovered with his health, the wideout is expected to head to Pittsburgh in a trade, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports. Robinson, who recorded a 33-339-3 stat line on 52 targets in 10 games last season with the Rams in 2022, is bouncing back from a foot injury, but if he's past the issue, the 29-year-old would be a nice addition to a Pittsburgh wide receiver corps that is currently headed by Diontae Johnson and George Pickens.

  • Rams' Allen Robinson: Allowed to seek trade

The Rams have given Robinson (foot) permission Monday to seek a trade, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports. Los Angeles is even reportedly willing to take on a portion of the 29-year-old wideout's $15.25 million guaranteed salary to help get a trade done, per Pelissero. Robinson, who missed the last seven games of the 2022 season due to a foot injury, logged just a 33-339-3 receiving line on 52 targets across 10 games in his debut season with the Rams, after having put up 38-410-1 in 12 contests with the Bears back in 2021. Robinson's chances of a career revival at this point may depend on finding a quality landing spot for a fresh start.

  • Rams' Allen Robinson: Needs season-ending surgery on foot

Coach Sean McVay said after Sunday's loss to the Chiefs that Robinson has a foot injury that will require season-ending surgery, Jourdan Rodrigue of The Athletic reports. Robinson missed the 26-10 loss to the Chiefs with what was deemed an ankle injury, but it appears the injury is actually to his foot. The injury-riddled Rams have fallen out of the playoff hunt at 3-8, so they have no reason to rush Robinson's recovery. He finishes his first season in Los Angeles with 33 catches for 339 yards and three touchdowns on 52 targets.

  • Rams' Allen Robinson: Takes seat Sunday

Robinson (ankle) is listed as inactive Sunday in Kansas City, Sarah Barshop of ESPN.com reports. After just one game serving as the Rams' No. 1 wide receiver with Cooper Kupp sidelined due to a high-ankle sprain, Robinson will sit out himself with an ankle issue that limited him during Week 12 prep. With quarterback Matthew Stafford (concussion protocol/neck) out indefinitely, coach Sean McVay is going with Bryce Perkins under center instead of John Wolford (neck), who is active in case of emergency. Perkins thus will have Van Jefferson, Tyler Higbee (knee) and Ben Skowronek, among others, as his top available pass catchers. Robinson's next chance to play is Sunday, Dec. 4 against the Seahawks.

  • Rams' Allen Robinson: Unlikely to play Sunday

Robinson (ankle), who is listed as questionable for Sunday's game versus the Chiefs, isn't expected to be active, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports. Even though he's nominally the Rams' No. 1 receiver following Cooper Kupp's (ankle) placement on injured reserve after Week 10, Robinson's fantasy outlook for Week 12 was already looking bleak with Bryce Perkins expected to make his first NFL start in place of injured signal-caller Matthew Stafford (neck/concussion protocol). With the ankle issue having limited his participation in practice all week, Robinson now looks on track to join Kupp and Stafford on the sideline Sunday, though an official word on the wideout's status won't come until the Rams release their inactive list 90 minutes before the 4:25 p.m. kickoff. Assuming Robinson is out, Van Jefferson and Ben Skowronek will lead the wide receiver corps, with Brandon Powell, Tutu Atwell, Lance McCutcheon and Jacob Harris also seeing more opportunities as depth options.
