Gerald Hodges: Still eager to play
Hodges relayed Monday that he's still looking to play in the NFL in 2020, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
Hodges announced his retirement from the NFL last April, only to do an about-face about a month later. Though he was said to be drawing significant interest around the league last summer after deciding he wanted to keep playing, Hodges ultimately remained unsigned, sitting out the entire 2019 season as a result. That apparently hasn't deterred the 29-year-old linebacker from trying to continue his playing career, though finding work may be even tougher to come by now that he's nearly a year and a half removed from being on an NFL roster.

Gerald Hodges: Will play again
Hodges, who announced his retirement in April, has decided to play again, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
Hodges announced over a month ago that his seventh NFL season was his last, but time away from the game has apparently caused the linebacker to have a change of heart. With Hodges reportedly already drawing interest from teams, he shouldn't be a free agent for too much longer.

Gerald Hodges: Officially retires
Hodges officially returned from the NFL on Saturday via his personal Twitter account.
Hodges played seven years on four different teams during his time in the NFL. He spent three seasons with the Vikings, two with the 49ers, and one each with the Saints and Cardinals. All-in-all he recorded 282 (210 solo) tackles, 3.5 sacks, three interceptions, one forced fumble and one touchdown.

Cardinals' Gerald Hodges: Posts 13 tackles in win
Hodges recorded 13 tackles (12 solo) during Sunday's 20-17 win over the Packers.
Hodges has now led the Cardinals in tackles in two straight games, and played a key role in holding the Packers to only 17 points Week 13. The veteran linebacker will draw another start against the Lions on Sunday, and work to record another strong outing.

Cardinals' Gerald Hodges: Leads team in tackles
Hodges recorded 10 tackles (seven solo) during Sunday's 45-10 loss to the Chargers.
Hodges logged his highest single-game tackle total of the season Week 12. The veteran linebacker entered the starting lineup during the second quarter of Sunday's loss after Josh Bynes suffered a thumb injury, and he made the most of his snaps. With Bynes having been placed on injured reserve, Hodges could see a starting workload for the rest of the 2018 season.

Cardinals' Gerald Hodges: Inks deal with Arizona
Hodges signed with the Cardinals on Sunday, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
Hodges signing comes shortly after Arizona linebacker Jeremy Cash (knee) was ruled out for the season, so Hodges will add some quality depth to the position. Hodges appeared in 11 games with the Saints last season in a reserve role before being let go by the team in February.

Hodges appeared in 11 games for the Saints as a reserve last season, but he only managed to record three total tackles, which made for the least productive season of his NFL career. With New Orleans looking to claim offensive tackle John Theus off waivers, it was forced to waive Hodges to open up a roster spot.

Saints' Gerald Hodges: Set to join New Orleans
The Saints will sign Hodges to a contract later Wednesday, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
The addition of Hodges will help shore up the Saints' depth at outside linebacker after Alex Anzalone (shoulder) was placed on injured reserve following the team's last game Oct. 1 against the Dolphins. It's unclear if Hodges, who logged 83 tackles, three sacks and two interceptions in 15 games with the 49ers in 2016, will carve out a meaningful role right away for New Orleans, keeping him off the IDP radar for now.

Hodges' contract was terminated Sunday, Chris Brown of the Bills' official site reports.
The Bills made some unexpected cuts Sunday, as Hodges, receiver Philly Brown and running back Jonathan Williams were all let go. It was thought Hodges would make a nice backup to middle linebacker Preston Brown -- especially after the team traded Reggie Ragland -- but the Bills made three new signings Sunday and were forced to make some tough decisions elsewhere.

Bills' Gerald Hodges: Roster spot nearly secure
Hodges, who's having a strong camp after signing with the Bills in May, has been lining up consistently with the second team at both the middle and outside spots, Chris Brown of BuffaloBills.com reports.
Hodges put up 83 tackles last season for a bad San Francisco defense, and while he doesn't have a starting spot at the present time, current starter Ramon Humber doesn't have much starting experience, so there's an angle for Hodges to continue working his way up. At the very least, he's in line to see the field on more than special teams come Week 1.

Hodges was signed to a one-year contract by the Bills on Thursday, ESPN's Adam Schefter reports.
Hodges, an athletic former fourth-rounder, will compete for a spot at outside linebacker in Buffalo after racking up 133 tackles, two interceptions and a forced fumble in 25 games with the 49ers throughout the past two seasons.
