Pirates' Roddery Munoz: Claimed by Pittsburgh
The Pirates claimed Munoz off waivers from Washington on Friday, Andrew Golden of The Washington Post reports.
Munoz posted a 5.86 ERA and 1.65 WHIP across 66 innings in Triple-A last season. The 23-year-old righty has yet to appear in a major-league game, but a spot on Pittsburgh's 40-man roster will give Munoz the chance to earn a spot on the Opening Day roster -- likely as a multi-inning reliever.... Nationals' Roddery Munoz: Joins Washington
Washington claimed Munoz off waivers from Atlanta on Monday and optioned him to Triple-A Rochester.
Before designating Munoz for assignment last week, Atlanta appeared to have abandoned the idea of developing the right-hander as a starter, as he was deployed in relief in all but four of his 22 appearances with Triple-A Gwinnett, Double-A Mississippi and the rookie-level Florida Complex League this season while pitching to a 3.89 ERA, 1.42 WHIP and 40:27 K:BB across 39.1 innings. The 23-year-old boasts a mid-90s fastball and a plus slider, and that two-pitch mix could be enough for him to emerge as a useful relief prospect down the road. Though he'll stay at the Triple-A level with his new organization, Munoz should at least have an easier pathway to reaching the big leagues with Washington.... See More ... See Less
Braves' Roddery Munoz: Designated for assignment
Atlanta designated Munoz for assignment Thursday.
After putting up a 4.28 ERA and 1.55 WHIP through 27.1 frames to begin the season in Triple-A Gwinnett, Munoz will be cast off Atlanta's 40-man roster. The move makes room for Lucas Luetge, who was selected to Atlanta's active roster from Gwinnett on Thursday. It's possible Munoz is claimed by another team looking for bullpen help, but he now appears in line to finish 2023 in the minors.... See More ... See Less
Braves' Roddery Munoz: Sent back to Triple-A
Atlanta optioned Munoz to Triple-A Gwinnett on Thursday.
Munoz was only up in Atlanta's bullpen for a couple of days and did not make an appearance. The 23-year-old right-hander has posted a 4.94 ERA and 24:20 K:BB in 27.1 innings this season between the Double-A and Triple-A levels.... See More ... See Less
Braves' Roddery Munoz: Officially added to roster
Munoz was recalled from Triple-A Gwinnett on Tuesday.
Munoz has just a 4.63 ERA and 21:16 K:BB across 23.1 innings at Gwinnett this season, but he yielded only one run with a 14:7 K:BB over his last 11 frames. He'll be making his major-league debut when he gets into a game.... See More ... See Less
Braves' Roddery Munoz: Set to join big-league bullpen
Atlanta plans to promote Munoz from Triple-A Gwinnett on Tuesday, Hector Gomez of Z101Digital.com reports.
Munoz will be added to the 26-man active roster shortly before Tuesday's game against the Mets as a replacement for right-hander Michael Soroka, who was optioned to Gwinnett on Monday. With top pitching prospect AJ Smith-Shawver likely to move from the bullpen to take over Soroka's spot in the rotation, Munoz will fill the opening in Atlanta's relief corps. The 23-year-old right-hander will likely be limited to lower-leverage spots initially in his first taste of the big leagues after he compiled a 4.63 ERA, 1.60 WHIP and 21:16 K:BB across 23.1 innings at Gwinnett this season.... Braves' Roddery Munoz: Sent to Triple-A
Munoz was optioned to Triple-A Gwinnett by Atlanta on Friday.
Munoz has tossed two scoreless innings this spring, but he's in need of more seasoning. The 22-year-old collected a 4.66 ERA between High-A Rome and Double-A Mississippi last season.... See More ... See Less
