Kohlwey signed a minor-league contract with the Mets on Friday that includes an invitation to spring training. Kohlwey got a cup of coffee with the Padres in 2023, going 2-for-13 at the plate, but was non-tendered last month. He'll compete for a reserve outfielder job with the Mets but is likely to head to Triple-A Syracuse at the beginning of the season.... See More ... See Less

Taylor Kohlwey: Dropped by San Diego
Kohlwey became a free agent after being non-tendered by the Padres on Friday, Jeff Sanders of The San Diego Union-Tribune reports. The 29-year-old outfielder has appeared in only five career games at the MLB level, all with San Diego during the 2023 campaign. He'll likely have to settle for a minor-league contract on the open market this winter.... See More ... See Less -

Brett Sullivan was recalled from Triple-A in a corresponding move.... See More ... See Less -

Kohlwey has arrived in the majors for the first time at age 28 after posting an .814 OPS with nine homers and 10 steals in 78 games this season at the Triple-A level. He'll be a backup option at first base and both corner outfield spots.... See More ... See Less

There’s certain;y nothing convincing me right now. https://t.co/1L8MJTREGa

Michael Baron@michaelgbaron20H agoThis is the 5th time the #Mets have been shutout, the 11th time they’ve been held to one run or less(!!!). That’s 25 percent of their games - they’re 0-11 in all of those games.
