Manager David Bell indicated this weekend that McLain, who underwent shoulder surgery in late March, should be ready to start swinging a bat soon, Charlie Goldsmith of The Cincinnati Enquirer reports. "He's pretty close," Bell said. When he starts swinging, there will be a step-by-step progression from dry swinging to tee work to soft toss, etc. "It's a very well-thought out progression that he'll have to take his time with."

Bell alluded to McLain being ready for action at some point in August but also noted it's a long process between now and then. The 2021 first-rounder hit 16 home runs with an .864 OPS in his rookie season last year over 403 plate appearances, so his return could potentially give the Reds, a team that ranks just 21st in OPS, some extra pop down the stretch.

Anderson isn't in the Marlins' lineup for Sunday's game versus Seattle.

After going 0-for-3 on Saturday to end his brief five-game hitting streak, Anderson will get a breather during Sunday's series finale. Vidal Brujan will fill the opening at shortstop and bat eighth.

The Reds recalled Soto from Triple-A Louisville on Sunday.

Soto has remained at Louisville since he was claimed off waivers from Baltimore in April, slashing .299/.393/.372 with 19 RBI across 191 plate appearances. He doesn't have a clear path to playing time in Cincinnati's infield, so he'll likely occupy the bench as a depth piece. Austin Wynns was designated for assignment in order to clear a spot on the active roster.

Kim went 1-for-3 with a solo home run and an additional run in Saturday's 6-4 victory against Milwaukee.

Kim hit a fourth-inning solo shot that gave San Diego a 4-0 lead. The shortstop also singled in the contest, giving him his first multi-hit performance in over two weeks. Kim is slashing .231/.338/.462 with three homers, 12 RBI, nine runs, two stolen bases and an 11:8 BB:K through 20 games in June.

Abrams went 3-for-5 with a double, a homer, two RBI and two runs scored in Saturday's loss to the Rockies.

Abrams doubled in his second at-bat before coming around to score Washington's first run of the contest on a Lane Thomas single. The shortstop would then add a leadoff homer in the fifth to cut Colorado's lead down to one run, giving him 12 long balls on the season. Abrams has now logged multiple hits in three consecutive games and is batting .361 in June with three homers, 13 RBI and 12 runs scored. He's also struck out just twice over his last eight games while drawing four walks.

Cruz went 1-for-3 with a walk, a solo home run and a second run scored in Saturday's 4-3 win over the Rays.

He destroyed the first pitch he saw from Zach Eflin in the first inning, sending the 78.2 mph curveball out of the stadium to right field and straight into the Allegheny River. Per Adam Berry and Justice delos Santos of MLB.com, it's just the sixth time since PNC Park opened that a ball has been hit into the river on the fly. Despite his prodigious physical tools, Cruz is still having trouble producing consistently for the Pirates, but he has stepped things up this month. Through 16 games in June, the 25-year-old is slashing .250/.283/.464 with three homers, one steal, 11 runs and 11 RBI.

De La Cruz went 3-for-5 with a solo home run in a loss to the Red Sox on Saturday.

De La Cruz gave Cincinnati a 3-0 lead with his third-inning solo shot, but that turned out to be the final run the Reds scored in the game. The star shortstop came into the contest 0-for-10 with five strikeouts over his previous three contests, so the three-hit effort was a nice way to get back on track. De La Cruz now has 13 long balls on the campaign, and he's added 32 RBI, 48 runs, a league-leading 37 steals and a .240/.338/.444 slash line.

Winn went 3-for-5 with a double, one RBI and two runs scored in Saturday's 9-4 win over the Giants.

Winn is batting .286 (22-for-77) over 19 contests in June, and he's notched four extra-base hits over his last nine games. The shortstop has taken over the leadoff spot on a nearly full-time basis, and it's because he's been one of the Cardinals' most consistent hitters this season. The 22-year-old is slashing .300/.344/.435 with four home runs, 27 RBI, 30 runs scored, eight stolen bases, 14 doubles and three triples over 68 games.

Sosa was diagnosed with a left elbow contusion after being hit by a pitch in the fifth inning of Saturday's 12-1 win over the Diamondbacks, Brooke Destra of NBC Sports Philadelphia reports.

Though X-rays have cleared Sosa of a serious injury, he should be considered day-to-day heading into Sunday's series finale. He went 0-for-1 with a run scored prior to exiting.

Lindor went 3-for-5 with two doubles and two runs scored in Friday's win over the Cubs.

The veteran shortstop led off the first and fourth innings with doubles as the Mets' offense erupted once again in an 11-1 rout. It's Lindor's sixth multi-hit performance in June, and on the month he's slashing .294/.364/.529 with seven doubles, three homers, four steals, eight RBI and 15 runs in 17 contests.
