Kim went 0-for-2 with two walks, two steals and two runs in Sunday's win over the Blue Jays. Kim drew walks in the sixth and ninth innings. He stole second and third in the ninth before ultimately coming in to score on a bases-loaded walk from Nate Pearson. Sunday ended a five-game hit streak for Kim, who is now hitting .226/347/.417 with three homers, 13 RBI, 14 runs, six steals and a 16:16 BB:K in 102 plate appearances.... See More ... See Less

Padres' Ha-Seong Kim: Another productive day
Kim went 1-for-4 with a three-run home run during Tuesday's 6-3 win over the Brewers. Kim swatted a three-run home run off Wade Miley in the first inning, plating Fernando Tatis and Jurickson Profar as part of Kim's second three-RBI game of the season. Over his last nine games, Kim is batting .258 with a pair of home runs, eight RBI and seven runs scored.... See More ... See Less -
Padres' Ha-Seong Kim: Swats second homer Friday
Kim went 1-for-5 with a solo home run against the Dodgers in Friday's 8-7 extra-innings victory. Kim hit one of four long balls for San Diego in the victory, taking Yoshinobu Yamamoto deep in the second inning. The long ball was his second of the campaign and sixth extra-base hit overall -- he also has two doubles and two triples. Kim has a modest .217/.284/.417 slash line through 67 plate appearances, but he has provided decent production with nine runs, eight RBI and four stolen bases.... See More ... See Less -
Padres' Ha-Seong Kim: Triple, stolen base in win
Kim went 2-for-4 with a triple, two runs scored and a stolen base in Wednesday's win over Chicago. Kim came around to score San Diego's second run of the game on a fielder's choice play after reaching on an infield single and later stealing third. The shortstop then added a triple in the fourth before coming around to score a second time as the Padres jumped back out to a two-run lead. Kim is still batting just .182 in April following the two-hit performance, though he's now hit safely in three of his last four contests. It also marked his second triple in his last three games.... Padres' Ha-Seong Kim: Nabs second steal
Kim went 1-for-3 with a walk, a run and a stolen base in Thursday's 6-4 win against the Giants. Kim has reached base four times -- three via walk -- through three games this season, and he's stolen a base on half of those occasions. He recorded a career-high 38 steals in 47 attempts last year and appears to have the green light to run frequently this season. Kim has yet to get his bat going with just one hit in 10 at-bats, but the thefts have helped highlight what he can provide for fantasy managers.... See More ... See Less -
Padres' Ha-Seong Kim: Back in action Friday
Kim (back) is starting at shortstop and batting fifth in Friday's Cactus League game against the Giants. Kim has been sidelined by back spasms the past few days but is ready to retake the field for Friday's contest. The 28-year-old is shifting to shortstop this season after winning a Gold Glove at second base for the Padres in 2023.... See More ... See Less -
Padres' Ha-Seong Kim: Out until Friday with back spasms
Kim will be held out of action until Friday after experiencing back spasms during drills Tuesday, Kevin Acee of the San Diego Union-Tribune reports. Acee says Kim was virtually pain-free by Tuesday evening, but he's being held out Wednesday as a precaution and the Padres are off Thursday. Xander Bogaerts slid over to his old position at shortstop to cover for Kim on Wednesday. Kim has had a nice start to Cactus League play, going 6-for-15 with a home run and two stolen bases.... Padres' Ha-Seong Kim: Shifting to shortstop full-time
Padres manager Mike Shildt said Friday that Kim will be the team's starting shortstop this season, Dennis Lin of The Athletic reports. Xander Bogaerts will shift to second base to form the Padres' new double-play combo. Bogaerts has never played second base before and his defensive metrics at shortstop recently have been solid. However, Kim is undoubtedly the superior defender at short and the Padres don't seem to have any concern about Bogaerts' ability to adapt to the keystone.... See More ... See Less -
Padres' Ha-Seong Kim: Held out again Wednesday
Kim (abdomen) remains out of the lineup for Wednesday's game versus the Rockies, Jeff Sanders of The San Diego Union-Tribune reports. Kim has been battling some abdominal soreness since the weekend and will miss a fourth straight start. The Padres will go with Matthew Batten again at second base Wednesday.... See More ... Padres' Ha-Seong Kim: Still feeling soreness
Kim "is still experiencing some abdominal discomfort," Annie Heilbrunn of the San Diego Union-Tribune reports. Kim was scratched from the lineup for Sunday's contest due to the soreness, and according to the report the team is still trying to identify what exactly is ailing him. One way or another, Kim will not start Monday for a second straight day.... See More ... See Less -
Padres' Ha-Seong Kim: Scratched Sunday
Kim was scratched from Sunday's lineup against the Athletics for unspecified reasons. Kim was penciled in to start at second base and bat leadoff Sunday, per usual, but the Padres released an updated lineup that excludes him. Assuming the 27-year-old is dealing with an injury, the team should provide more information in the near future. Matthew Batten will shift to the keystone while Eguy Rosario starts at third base. Jurickson Profar is now batting atop the order.... See More ... See Less -
Padres' Ha-Seong Kim: Swift on basepaths Friday
Kim went 0-for-5 with a walk and a stolen base in Friday's 8-3 win against Oakland. Kim wasn't able to record a hit in the contest, but he still tied together something for his fantasy managers to smile about with a sixth-inning steal. The theft was his 36th of the season, tied for seventh-most in the majors. Kim has been tailor-made for the Padres' leadoff spot with an 85th percentile walk rate (11.9 percent) and 80th percentile sprint speed, and he's added some pop with 17 homers along with 58 RBI, 80 runs and a .266/.356/.408 slash line over 578 plate appearances. Kim did turn his ankle on his stolen base Friday but stayed in the game and is expected to play Saturday, per the Associated Press.... See More ... See Less -
Padres' Ha-Seong Kim: Day off Tuesday
Kim isn't in the Padres' lineup Tuesday against the Dodgers. Kim will get a rare day off Tuesday after slashing just .195/.267/.195 across 46 plate appearances since Sept. 1. Matthew Batten will start at second base Tuesday while Eguy Rosario gets the nod at third and bats ninth.... See More ... See Less -
Padres' Ha-Seong Kim: Registers 35th steal
Kim went 1-for-4 with one RBI, one stolen base and one run scored in Monday's 11-8 win over the Dodgers. Kim's hitting has dropped off a bit in September -- he's gone 8-for-41 (.195) this month, but he's still managed to pick up six steals in his last 10 games. The infielder is up to 35 steals this season, good for eighth in the majors. He's also slashing .270/.361/.416 with 17 home runs, 58 RBI, 80 runs scored and 20 doubles over 140 games.... See More ... Padres' Ha-Seong Kim: Runs wild Friday
Kim went 2-for-4 with a walk, two RBI, three stolen bases and two runs scored in Friday's 11-2 win over the Astros. Kim did his part to get on base, and he also showed no hesitation on the basepaths Friday. The infielder has stolen multiple bases in five games this year, including a pair of three-steal efforts. For the year, he's 34-for-42 on pilfers while slashing a reliable .273/.364/.422 with 17 home runs, 57 RBI and 79 runs scored over 137 contests. He continues to hit well from the top of the Padres' order.... See More ... See Less -
Padres' Ha-Seong Kim: Collects two thefts Sunday
Kim went 1-for-3 with a walk and two stolen bases Sunday in a 4-0 victory over the Giants. Kim singled to lead off the bottom of the first inning and quickly stole second base before being wiped out at third on a fielder's choice. He added a walk and another theft in the fourth frame. Kim is up to 31 steals on the season, eighth-most in the majors. He's added 17 homers, 52 RBI, 77 runs and a .275/.365/.429 slash line in what has been a breakout campaign.... See More ... See Less -
Padres' Ha-Seong Kim: Racks up three steals Wednesday
Kim went 1-for-3 with a walk, three stolen bases and a run scored in Wednesday's 6-1 loss to the Mariners. Kim extended his hitting streak to 15 games. He's gone 22-for-53 (.415) with nine steals in that span. The surge at the plate has lifted the infielder's slash line to .288/.384/.451 with 27 steals, 15 home runs, 41 RBI and 63 runs scored through 433 plate appearances this season.... See More ... Padres' Ha-Seong Kim: Records two steals in loss
Kim went 2-for-4 with a walk and two stolen bases in Friday's 10-5 loss to the Dodgers. Kim has shown no hesitation with six stolen bases during his 10-game hitting streak, a span in which he's batting .471 (16-for-34). The infielder's impressive stretch has him up to 24 thefts this season, and he's maintained a .287/.382/.458 slash line with 15 home runs, 41 RBI and 60 runs scored over 105 contests. With both willingness and ample opportunity to run, Kim has emerged as a strong leadoff hitter for the Padres in his third major-league campaign.... See More ... See Less -
Padres' Ha-Seong Kim: Leading off Monday
Kim (shoulder) is leading off and serving as the designated hitter Monday in Colorado. He exited Sunday's game with a jammed right shoulder but won't miss any further time with the issue, although he'll be spared from his defensive duties Monday. Kim is slashing .341/.451/.553 with five home runs, eight steals and more walks (15) than strikeouts (14) in 85 at-bats this month.... See More ... See Less -
Padres' Ha-Seong Kim: Considered day-to-day
Kim is considered day-to-day with a jammed right shoulder, Kevin Acee of The San Diego Union-Tribune reports. Kim was removed from Sunday's game against the Rangers after hurting his shoulder while sliding into home. While he's considered day-to-day, manager Bob Melvin said that it's unlikely Kim plays Monday against Colorado.... See More ... See Less
