According to multiple reports on Twitter, Notre Dame lost cornerback Lo Wood for the season after he suffered an Achilles injury on Monday.

Brian Kelly confirmed that Wood had ruptured his Achilles on Tuesday.

Losing Wood for the season is a pretty big blow to the Notre Dame defense.

The Irish have only one returning starter from the 2011 secondary on the team this season. Wood, along with fellow junior Bennett Jackson, were both expected to replace corners Robert Blanton and Gary Gray.

Losing Wood leaves Notre Dame with very little experience at the corner position. Without Wood it seems as though Notre Dame would have to rely on Jalen Brown, KeiVarae Russell or Josh Atkinson to start at corner.

It's also possible the Irish could move safety Jamoris Slaughter -- the lone returning starter -- to corner to replace Wood.
