  • Islanders' Semyon Varlamov: Had knee procedure in December

Varlamov had a knee procedure in December and feels he will be ready for training camp in September, Arthur Staple of The Athletic reports Saturday.

Varlamov last played Nov. 29, finishing the season with a 3-4-3 record, a 2.89 GAA and an .889 save percentage across 10 regular-season games in 2024-25. He hopes to start skating in June as he is still rehabbing his knee. The 36-year-old still has two years remaining on his four-year, $11 million contract signed in July of 2023.

  • Islanders' Casey Cizikas: Nabs helper in loss

Cizikas logged an assist and two shots on goal in Thursday's 6-1 loss to the Blue Jackets.

Cizikas recorded five points over the final 12 games of the season to salvage some scoring late in the year. He finished with 17 points in 82 games, his lowest output in the last three seasons. He also had a minus-13 rating, 97 shots on net, 51 PIM, 202 hits and 66 blocked shots while playing in a bottom-six role. Cizikas is under contract for two more years, so expect more of the same from the defensive center in 2025-26.

  • Islanders' Hudson Fasching: Scores lone goal in loss

Fasching scored a goal on four shots in Thursday's 6-1 loss to the Blue Jackets.

Fasching had two goals over the last five games of the season. The 29-year-old winger generally struggled this year, posting just four points in 43 outings after earning 14 points in 45 games the year before. He's set to be an unrestricted free agent this summer, though he may have to settle for a two-way contract.

  • Islanders' Marcus Hogberg: Ends season with loss

Hogberg turned aside 20 shots in Thursday's 6-1 loss to the Blue Jackets.

The 30-year-old netminder kept Columbus off the board in the first period, but things fell apart for the Islanders over the final 40 minutes of their season. Hogberg had a rough conclusion to his campaign, coughing up six or more goals in three of his last four starts, and his last win came back on Jan. 18 -- he went 0-4-3 over his last nine outings with a 4.60 GAA and .833 save percentage. Ilya Sorokin and Semyon Varlamov (lower body) are both under contract for 2025-26, but even if the latter's health remains in question, the Isles may look for an upgrade on Hogberg this offseason as their No. 3 goalie.

  • Islanders' Alexander Romanov: Out Thursday

Romanov (illness) isn't expected to play in the Islanders' regular-season finale versus Columbus on Thursday, per Andrew Gross of Newsday.

Romanov is slated to end the campaign with four goals, 20 points, 100 shots, 147 hits and 165 blocks in 64 appearances. It's the third straight season in which he's recorded at least 20 points, though he is set to finish just below the 150-hit mark after reaching that milestone in each of his previous three campaigns.

  • Islanders' Ryan Pulock: Unavailable Thursday

Pulock (undisclosed) will miss Thursday's contest in Columbus, per Andrew Gross of Newsday.

Pulock ends the season with five goals, 18 assists, 100 hits and 155 blocked shots over 74 regular-season games. He'll presumably be back to full health by the start of training camp in September.

  • Islanders' Adam Pelech: Not playing Thursday

Pelech (undisclosed) will sit out Thursday's season finale in Columbus, Andrew Gross of Newsday reports.

Pelech was in the concussion protocol prior to Tuesday's tilt against Washington, and while he logged 18:06 of ice time, he could still be dealing with some effects. Pelech had 21 assists and 87 blocked shots over 60 games in 2024-25.

  • Islanders' Marcus Hogberg: Tending twine in Columbus

Hogberg will defend the road crease against Columbus on Thursday, Andrew Gross of Newsday reports.

Hogberg has seen sporadic playing time for most of the season, but he's failed to pick up a win over seven appearances since the 4 Nations Face-Off. During that time, he's gone 0-3-3 with a 4.82 GAA and .829 save percentage. He'll draw the start in Thursday's regular-season finale and will face a tough test, as the Blue Jackets are tied for eighth in the NHL with 3.22 goals per game this year. However, Columbus was eliminated from playoff contention Wednesday night, so it's possible the team rests a few players Thursday.

  • Islanders' Mike Reilly: Spending time in press box

Reilly was scratched for a 10th straight game in Tuesday's 3-1 loss to the Capitals.

Reilly had two assists over six contests after he returned from a long-term absence due to a heart condition. He didn't stick on the third pairing, and it's unclear if he'll play in the regular-season finale versus the Blue Jackets on Thursday. If not, Reilly will conclude the season with two helpers, 28 shots on net, 13 blocked shots and a minus-1 rating over 17 appearances. He's set to be an unrestricted free agent this summer.

  • Islanders' Scott Perunovich: Gets rare appearance Tuesday

Perunovich played in Tuesday's 3-1 loss to the Capitals.

Perunovich drew in for Alexander Romanov (illness) in the penultimate game of the season. The 26-year-old Perunovich had been scratched for the previous 23 contests. He's a pending restricted free agent heading into the summer, and it's unclear if the Islanders are interested in keeping him around. He's produced nine points, 18 shots on net, 33 blocked shots and a minus-2 rating over 33 appearances between the Islanders and the Blues, but Perunovich's skill set was a bit redundant on a team that also rostered Tony DeAngelo and Adam Boqvist in the second half of the campaign.

  • Islanders' Jean-Gabriel Pageau: Credited with goal

Pageau scored a goal in Tuesday's 3-1 loss to the Capitals.

Pageau got the Islanders on the board at 11:36 of the third period, though the goal was only credited to him after a Capitals player put it in their net. The 32-year-old Pageau has two goals and three assists over his last six contests to close out the season on a positive note. He's up to 14 goals and 42 points over 78 appearances, putting him one point shy of his career high from 2015-16. The center has added 119 shots on net, 140 hits, 57 blocked shots and a plus-6 rating in 2024-25.

  • Islanders' Ilya Sorokin: Good effort not enough

Sorokin stopped 33 of 35 shots in Tuesday's 3-1 loss to the Capitals. The third goal was an empty-netter.

Sorokin played well, but a pair of Dylan Strome goals over the first two periods accounted for the difference. Strome also scored an empty-netter. Sorokin lost for the first time in four outings and is now 30-24-6 with a 2.71 GAA and a .907 save percentage over 61 outings. It's not quite the level of play he had in his first three NHL seasons, but this season has been better than last year for Sorokin. The Islanders have not yet named their starter for Thursday's season finale versus the Blue Jackets.

  • Islanders' Alexander Romanov: Dealing with illness

Romanov (illness) won't play against Washington on Tuesday, according to Andrew Gross of Newsday.

Romanov will miss at least one game but could return for Thursday's regular-season finale versus Columbus. He has registered four goals, 20 points, 100 shots on net, 165 blocked shots and 147 hits through 64 appearances this season. Scott Perunovich will replace Romanov in Tuesday's lineup.

  • Islanders' Adam Pelech: Good to go Tuesday

Pelech cleared concussion protocol and will be available versus Washington on Tuesday, Stefen Rosner of NHL.com reports.

Pelech will avoid missing any games after being forced to exit Sunday's clash with the Devils after just 9:06 of ice time. The 30-year-old defenseman is not exactly known for his offensive upside, as evidenced by the fact that he has yet to find the back of the net in 59 games this season. Pelech has rushed out 21 helpers, however, getting him back over the 20-point threshold for the third time in the last four years.

  • Islanders' Tristan Lennox: Back up with NHL team

Lennox is practicing with the Islanders ahead of Tuesday's clash with Washington, Stefen Rosner of NHL.com reports.

Lennox is likely just here to get some NHL-level experience, as Ilya Sorokin is expected to get the starting nod at home versus Washington on Tuesday. It's possible that Lennox starts against Columbus on the road Thursday -- though that game is more likely to go to Sorokin or Marcus Hogberg.

  • Islanders' Ilya Sorokin: Leaves ice first

Sorokin was the first goalie to exit the ice Tuesday, Stefen Rosner of NHL.com reports, indicating he'll be in goal at home against the Caps.

Sorokin is coming off a 25-save shutout victory over the Devils on Sunday, his fourth shutout of the year. If the 29-year-old backstop can secure a victory versus Washington, he will match his career high of 31 wins from back in 2022-23 and could set a new personal best if he also gets the nod against the Jackets on the road Thursday.
