Benoit missed Thursday's practice due to back spasms. Benoit is regarded as day-to-day, so it's possible he'll resume practicing in the near future. He recorded three goals, 10 points, 60 PIM, 216 hits and 128 blocks in 78 outings with Anaheim in 2022-23. Benoit signed a one-year, $775,000 contract with the Maple Leafs over the summer.... Maple Leafs' Simon Benoit: Signs one-year deal
Benoit signed a one-year, $775,000 contract with Toronto on Monday. Benoit accounted for three goals, seven assists, 60 PIM, 128 blocked shots and 216 hits in 78 games with Anaheim last season. The 24-year-old will compete for a depth spot on Toronto's blue line during training camp.... See More ... See Less -
Simon Benoit: Doesn't receive qualifying offer
Benoit wasn't given a qualifying offer by the Ducks, which will result in him becoming an unrestricted free agent Saturday, CapFriendly reports. Benoit had three goals, 10 points, 60 PIM, 216 hits and 128 blocks in 78 outings in 2022-23. He completed a one-year, $750,000 contract and the Ducks would have had to make him a one-year, $787,500 qualifying offer in order to keep his exclusive negotiating rights.... See More ... See Less -
Ducks' Simon Benoit: Puts up assist
Benoit logged an assist in Wednesday's 3-1 loss to the Oilers. Benoit ended an eight-game point drought with the helper. The 24-year-old defenseman is up to 10 points, 78 shots on net, 207 hits, 124 blocked shots, 58 PIM and a minus-29 rating through 74 appearances. He should close out the year in a regular bottom-four role, adding a physical presence to the Ducks' lineup.... See More ... See Less -
Ducks' Simon Benoit: Supplies two assists Friday
Benoit had two assists in Anaheim's 7-4 victory over Columbus on Friday. This was Benoit's first multi-point game of the campaign, and he has three goals and nine points in 65 appearances overall. He's better known for his work without the puck, and he continued to show up in that regard Friday. Benoit remains Anaheim's 2022-23 leader in hits (182) and blocks (115) after recording three and two, respectively, against Columbus.... See More ... See Less -
Ducks' Simon Benoit: Ends drought with assist
Benoit recorded an assist, two hits, two blocked shots and a plus-3 rating in Friday's 3-1 win over the Flames. Benoit entered Friday on a 16-game point drought, posting a minus-8 rating with 35 hits and 30 blocked shots in that span. He was able to snap the drought with the secondary helper on Derek Grant's empty-net goal with two seconds left in the game. Benoit is hardly a big scoring threat with seven points through 62 contests. He's added 172 hits, 108 blocks, 67 shots on net, 54 PIM and a minus-21 rating, though the physicality likely won't outweigh the lack of offense in fantasy.... See More ... See Less -
Ducks' Simon Benoit: Stuck in scoring drought
Benoit has gone 14 games without a point. Benoit has a minus-9 rating, 31 hits, 26 blocked shots, 13 PIM and 11 shots on goal in that span. The 24-year-old defenseman picked up five of his six points this season in January, but that brief burst of offense has passed. He's added 166 hits, 102 blocked shots, 63 shots on net, 54 PIM and a minus-25 rating through 59 outings overall despite seeing regular time in a bottom-four role.... See More ... See Less -
Ducks' Simon Benoit: Collects helper in win
Benoit notched an assist, two hits and a plus-2 rating in Thursday's 5-3 win over the Avalanche. Benoit helped out on Adam Henrique's game-tying goal in the third period. It continues an improvement on offense from Benoit, who has earned five of his six points this season over the last 10 games. The physical defenseman has added 135 hits, 76 blocked shots, 52 shots on goal, 41 PIM and a minus-16 rating through 45 appearances.... See More ... See Less -
Ducks' Simon Benoit: Goals in consecutive contests
Benoit scored a goal on two shots and added three hits in Saturday's 6-3 loss to the Sabres. Benoit has scored in back-to-back games, and all three of his tallies on the season have come in the last six contests. The 24-year-old defenseman appears to be getting more comfortable on offense, though it's his physicality that has made him a near-constant presence in the Ducks' lineup. He's at five points, 49 shots on net, 127 hits, 74 blocked shots, 41 PIM and a minus-17 rating through 43 appearances.... See More ... See Less -
Ducks' Simon Benoit: Scores equalizer in comeback
Benoit scored a goal on three shots, added three hits and blocked two shots in Thursday's 5-3 win over the Blue Jackets. Both of Benoit's goals this season have come in the last five games. His tally Thursday was a big one, pulling the Ducks level after they gave up the first three goals of the game. The 24-year-old defenseman is up to four points, 47 shots on net, 124 hits, 73 blocked shots, 41 PIM and a minus-18 rating through 42 contests.... See More ... See Less -
Ducks' Simon Benoit: Slides helper to end slump
Benoit produced an assist and doled out five hits in Friday's 5-4 overtime win over the Sharks. Benoit ended a 24-game point drought dating back to Nov. 15. He helped out on a Mason McTavish tally in the second period Friday. Regular offense isn't a part of Benoit's playing style -- the 24-year-old is a physical presence in a bottom-four role for the Ducks. He has a pair of helpers, 103 hits, 61 blocked shots, 41 PIM, 35 shots on net and a minus-15 rating through 36 contests.... See More ... See Less -
Ducks' Simon Benoit: Lacking offense in regular role
Benoit has no points and a minus-10 rating in his last 16 games. Benoit has been a regular presence in the Ducks' lineup, but he's produced virtually no offense. For the season, the 24-year-old blueliner has one assist in 27 contests. He's added 75 hits, 45 blocked shots, 37 PIM, 22 shots on net and a minus-11 rating as a physical and defensive presence on a struggling team.... See More ... See Less -
Ducks' Simon Benoit: Picks up first assist
Benoit notched an assist in Saturday's 3-2 loss to the Blackhawks. Benoit has found some steady playing time since Jamie Drysdale (shoulder) went on injured reserve, appearing in nine straight games. The helper was Benoit's first point of the campaign, as he's still been limited to bottom-four minutes. The 24-year-old blueliner has added 32 hits, 11 blocked shots, 18 PIM and 10 shots on net with a minus-1 rating through 11 contests. It's unlikely he'll do enough on offense to get much interest in fantasy.... See More ... See Less -
Ducks' Simon Benoit: Lands one-year extension
Benoit signed a one-year, two-way contract extension with the Ducks on Friday. Benoit drew into 53 games with Anaheim last year, picking up five points and a minus-5 rating while averaging just 14:05 of ice time per contest. The 23-year-old defender may have a slightly bigger role with the Ducks in 2022-23, but he almost certainly won't produce enough offense to be a useful fantasy option.... See More ... See Less -
Ducks' Simon Benoit: Heading to AHL San Diego
Benoit was reassigned to AHL San Diego on Saturday. Benoit spent most of the NHL season with the Ducks, logging five points, 168 hits and 45 shots on net in 53 contests. He'll now head to San Diego to bolster the Gulls' roster for the AHL playoffs.... See More ... See Less -
Ducks' Simon Benoit: Takes assist in win
Benoit provided an assist, three shots on goal and four hits in Tuesday's 5-2 win over the Sharks. The assist was Benoit's first point in 20 games, a dry spell stretching back to Feb. 19. The defenseman has been mostly a physical presence with almost no scoring upside this season. He has five points, 167 hits, 39 blocked shots and a minus-5 rating through 52 appearances.... See More ... See Less -
Ducks' Simon Benoit: Losing playing time
Benoit has appeared in 15 of the Ducks' 23 games since the start of March. Benoit doesn't have a point in that span, amassing 46 hits, 19 shots on net, seven PIM and a minus-1 rating. The 23-year-old's playing time has dipped further in April, as he's appeared in just four of nine April contests. He'll likely be the one to sit once Urho Vaakanainen (illness) is ready to return. Benoit has only four points with 159hits, 38 blocked shots, 39 shots on net and a minus-5 rating in 50 contests this season.... See More ... See Less -
Ducks' Simon Benoit: Drops gloves Wednesday
Benoit posted five hits and a fighting major in Wednesday's 4-2 loss to the Blackhawks. Benoit showed off his physicality throughout the game, and he also fought Blackhawks forward Reese Johnson in the third period. In 11 games since he last got on the scoresheet, Benoit has 31 hits, 11 PIM, 11 shots on net and a minus-9 rating. The 23-year-old defenseman figures to play regularly after Hampus Lindholm was dealt to the Bruins prior to Monday's trade deadline, but Benoit's physicality and limited offense won't help most fantasy managers. He has four points and 137 hits through 43 outings.... See More ... See Less -
Ducks' Simon Benoit: Produces assist Saturday
Benoit logged an assist and four hits in Saturday's 7-4 win over the Canucks. Benoit was credited with the secondary helper on an Adam Henrique tally late in the second period. This was Benoit's second assist in his last six games, though he's hardly a regular contributor on offense. The 23-year-old blueliner has four points, 17 shots on net, 106 hits, 25 blocked shots and a plus-2 rating in 32 contests. Benoit, Greg Pateryn and Josh Mahura figure to continue rotating in and out of the lineup going forward.... See More ... See Less -
Ducks' Simon Benoit: Takes helper in win
Benoit logged an assist and three hits in Thursday's 5-4 win over the Canadiens. Benoit has drawn into two games since clearing the COVID-19 protocols. His assist on a Trevor Zegras goal in the second period was Benoit's first point since Dec. 15. The 23-year-old defenseman has three points, 89 hits, 17 blocked shots and 13 shots on net through 27 contests. He's unlikely to be much of a factor on offense, and he'll have to compete with Josh Mahura for playing time going forward.... See More ... See Less
