Canadiens' Logan Mailloux: Reassigned to minors
Mailloux was demoted to AHL Laval on Wednesday.
Mailloux has been solidly productive to open the season for the Habs, registering three points, seven shots and seven blocks in five contests, so it's somewhat surprising to see the youngster heading back down. However, both Kaiden Guhle (upper body) and Justin Barron (upper body) are traveling with the team ahead of Thursday's tilt versus Washington, indicating one or both could be ready to return. For his part, if Mailloux continues to produce offensively in the minors, he could force Montreal to add him back to the NHL roster.

Canadiens' Logan Mailloux: Logs assist in loss
Mailloux had an assist, two shots, two blocks, three hits and four PIM in Tuesday's 8-2 loss to Seattle.
Mailloux's shot was saved by Joey Daccord, but Cole Caufield was there to bang in the rebound to make it a 4-1 game late in the first period. The assist gave Mailloux points in two straight, but the rookie was also on the ice for three of Seattle's even-strength tallies and has a minus-4 rating through five games played.

Mailloux logged an assist in Sunday's 4-3 win over the Flyers.
Mailloux again saw low ice time, skating for just 13:31 of Sunday's win despite being listed on the top pairing. The 21-year-old has two points through four appearances, but he also has a minus-2 rating, two PIM, three hits, five blocked shots and five shots on net. With Kaiden Guhle (upper body) landing on injured reserve Sunday, Mailloux may have a bit more time to make an impression, but it's likely he'll head back to AHL Laval at some point.

Canadiens' Logan Mailloux: Reduced TOI in win
Mailloux blocked two shots over a season-low 11:27 of ice time in Saturday's 5-2 win over the Blues.
Mailloux opened the game partnered with No. 1 defenseman Mike Matheson but was on the ice for just 13 total shifts and saw his TOI reduced by eight minutes compared to his previous outing, a 7-2 loss to the Rangers on Tuesday. The young blueliner's ice time took a hit in the second period after he failed to cover St. Louis' Jake Neighbours, who tied the game at 2-2. This comes after a rough night against New York on Tuesday, when he finished with a minus-3 that included letting up on a puck that he perceived was icing but turned into a Rangers goal. Montreal is dealing with a pair of injuries on the blue line, so Mailloux is being given the opportunity to learn from his mistakes, but that should only last until either Justin Barron (upper body) or Kaiden Guhle (upper body) are ready to play.

Canadiens' Logan Mailloux: Scores first NHL goal
Mailloux scored a goal on his lone shot attempt in Saturday's 4-3 shootout loss to the Islanders. He also recorded one blocked shot, two hits and two PIM.
Mailloux filled the high slot and beat Semyon Varlamov off the post to the far side for his first NHL goal. The defenseman was called up from AHL Laval and replaced Kaiden Guhle (upper body). Mailloux lined up with fellow rookie Lane Hutson on the second pair and was given 18 shifts and 19:03 of ice time. He's made two appearances at the NHL level, including a game at the end of last season, and has points in each.

Canadiens' Logan Mailloux: Recalled Friday
Mailloux was recalled from AHL Laval on Friday.
The defenseman has been an offensive force in the AHL this season, scoring twice and adding a pair of assists in only two appearances. Mailloux was recalled as the Canadiens may need a rearguard with Mike Matheson leaving Thursday's game versus Los Angeles with an upper-body injury. Should Mailloux enter the lineup, he should see power-play time on the second unit.

Canadiens' Logan Mailloux: Sent back to minors
Mailloux was returned to AHL Laval on Wednesday.
Mailloux made his NHL debut against the Red Wings on Tuesday, recording one assist, two shots and one hit while logging 21:14 of ice time. With the Habs out of the playoffs, Mailloux will get at least two more games in the minors considering the Rocket have an outside chance of making the Calder Cup playoffs. Looking ahead to next season, Mailloux should be in contention for a spot on the Canadiens' Opening Night roster coming out of training camp.

Mailloux was promoted from AHL Laval on Monday.
Mailloux was selected 31st overall in the 2021 NHL Entry Draft. He's tallied 14 goals and 47 points in 70 AHL contests this season. The 21-year-old will likely make his NHL debut in Tuesday's season finale against Detroit.
